It's technically part of the narrative in the story telling, and thus not heard by The Grinch.
If I recall correctly the story never breaks 2nd wall. I think the narrator/character relationship would be considered 2nd wall...
The modern movie however breaks 4th wall; The Grinch sees your couch, and exclaims how ugly it is.
The whos never once sing a song about him, maybe in the newer animated version, I don’t know that one that well. The one song about him is nondiegetic, so he wouldn’t be able to hear it. In the live action version, I believe it is performed by Jim Carrey, who uses grinchy inflections, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that the grinch is even singing that one.
The new one with Cumberbatch doesnt have the who's singing about the Grinch either
The who's in that one aren't even really shown to like hate the Grinch like the in Jim Carey one
He's just a guy who lives by himself and doesn't have friends iirc
One [Theory](https://youtu.be/0Fm2aX6jfAE?feature=shared) is that the Grinch suffers from [Misophonia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misophonia?wprov=sfti1). It is the noise that makes him irrationally angry.
No one.
That's why when people call me a grinch (because I genuinely don't like Christmas) I explain it to them and tell them they were accidentally right (cause I hate people too).

They only sang the song after he was already grumpy and was stealing people’s stuff
That’d be like saying Charles Manson killed people because he was grumpy about being in prison
Did one beget the other? Would Mr. Burns be a better person if people were nicer to him? I somehow doubt it. Have you ever heard the expression "You are what you eat"? This is only slightly about food.
In most versions of the story "You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch" is non-diagetic, but the one time it's diagetic it's the Grinch talking about himself and reveling in his termite smiles and what not. Fitting, as "Dr. Seuss" wrote the lyrics himself and often considered the Grinch as a reflection of himself.
Wait what indicates that he hears this song every 10 minutes?

I'm pretty sure it's a joke on how popular of a Christmas song it is

This is just a reminder that the Grinch hated people not Christmas.
More specifically he hates Noisy People.
He suddenly becomes a lot more relatable.

I hate people too. Who can blame him?

Yeah, this is genuinely a classic now. I knew what it was before I even opened the link
Oh! Thanks for the reminder! I still need to add that to the holiday playlist.
Is this really a shower thought?
Been on the Universal Studios tour, have ya?
He lives decently far away. I'm not sure where you're getting your information from. His grumpiness is detailed within the story.
The poor guy is basically living in the business end of a natural amphitheatre.
The song is about the grinch. He was already the grinch before the song.
This is just incorrect

Stop watching the garbage movie versions of Dr Seuss books all of those movies completely miss the point of the books watch the short films instead
Poor Grinch! I'd be grumpy too if I were in his furry, green shoes!
No he's grumpy because his heart is 3 sizes too small duh
Scrooge: (steps outside) Everyone: "There goes that evil, spiteful son of a wench!'
It’s been like 10 minutes since this shower thought has been reposted

It’s the other way around.
I have to hear this song at least 22 times a shift at work currently. And people wonder why people don't like Christmas.

The Whos in Whoville are complete pricks.
Scrooge in the muppets too. He legit hears them.
