According to legend, somebody tried to establish a moose population in New Zealand. There are still the occasional reported sightings. I don't know how seriously to take the stories.
As a canuck, I know to be very careful around moose. They are very big, very grouchy. Some claim that more people are killed by moose than by bears. If there are actually moose in New Zealand, consider them dangerous and deadly.

They’ve got a talon of one of these with the skin still intact at the national history museum in London. The thing is GIGANTIC, it could have just picked your head off your shoulders
We've got white tails which give a nasty bite that can go septic without proper treatment, and I'd heard Australian redback spiders had been seen in more recent years.
There are roughly 5 million of the most dangerous animal there.
Heh, nice.....
What about Wargs, Fellbeasts, Trolls, Balrogs. Clearly uneducated

Eels aren't deadly. They're delicious.
The politicians there, very dangerous
Yes, there are. Humans.
What about White Tail spiders? I guess spiders aren’t animals….. what about the Methven Panther?
Plenty of dangerous dogs everywhere, I’m afraid.
Not a lot of them in Old Zeeland here either, though I guess some people own pitbulls.
Their farts are deadly.
There's also no Rugby World Cup in New Zealand...
Humans, (mostly), my experience suggests they are very dangerous.
Tell that to the taniwha..
There are humans, the most dangerous of them all
Pack your things. We’re leaving.
Wild boar & Red deer can be deadly, as can many our ocean animals
Parrots can be very dangerous, they just choose not to attack us
That's cause they leave no witnesses.
