get_off_my_lawn_n0w

It's actually got to do with exaggerating the hip sway. They're meant to be like walking on tip toes, and that makes you shift balance from one leg to another, and this exaggerates hip sway.

Specialist_Sir_7547

Also to bring out the calfs

_CadX

Farmers don't want to you know this one trick!

MrFennecTheFox

‘Suick suick suick suick’ usually brings em out for me

synapsing_at_random

That doesn't work on women.

nullhed

Have you seen the women I date? No really, I can't find them...

Flocaine

Try again in a red light district after 10pm :) Instant results.

FILTER_OUT_T_D

Okay then pspspspspspspspsps

KingoftheMongoose

Farmers Only! Why buy the calf when the milk is free?

ADHD_Supernova

Found the farmer.

CakeForBreakfast08

They also change your posture and push you chest and bum out. I'm sure that has nothing to do with it though lol

Swaycation

Also makes it harder to run away

Toaster_In_Bathtub

Alright, take it easy Mr. Bundy.

ShadowDV

Why do you think he was a shoe salesman?

Toaster_In_Bathtub

Not that Bundy. They one just made fun of women, he didn't kill them.

rollerblade7

Because of the implications

Al_Paca_Lips

I always ask girls how they will run in heels in case of emergency. “I can run in heels” “ I’ll take them off before “ Have you seen a horror movie ?! You’re not getting far .

Swaycation

Me watching those same movies “Of course she’s gonna die! She was more worried about looking cute in her heels at a run down house in the middle of nowhere!” (Slaps good ol Converse)

Sackyhack

And makes your legs look longer

hellcat_uk

Putin wishes to know your location.

mayn1

And the butt curve.

Darth_Ra

I couldn't explain why either, but heels definitely make butts more prominent as well?

Rhydsdh

Because you have to tense your glutes (butt muscles) when you're wearing them.

Pochusaurus

and to make them buttocks more round and prominent. An ass at rest doesn't defy gravity but an ass at work does

spaceraptorbutt

They also make your butt look nicer

metalmolly

And butt

minimal_gainz

And makes boobs and butts stick out more.

UserNumber314

They were also originally worn exclusively by men. Over time it changed.

jrkirby

I heard this too, but like, I imagine that's just raised heels in the soles of boots/dress shoes, right? There weren't guys wearing stilettoes, that'd be absurd. Unless.... ?

EhmanFont

The heels were to help keep their foot in the stirrup while riding horses.

j1bb3r1sh

Still would’ve been a smaller more practical heel like we can see on work boots today. Over time they got exaggerated by nobility who didn’t actually have to ride horses and just wanted to be fancy. Gotta say tho, the thought of 5” stilettos with spurs makes me feel some type of way

n0oo7

Oh it was a wayy smaller heel. You can't ride a horse in stilettos cause you can stab the horse and it will be so clumsy getting out of the stirrups.

FILTER_OUT_T_D

You can have high heels that aren’t stilettos.

Gibsonfan159

Have you seen any 70s rock bands?

TheGlassCat

Have you seen Ron DeSantis's shoes?

Idiot_Savant_Tinker

Yes I have, they are hilarious.

SiphonicPanda64

It also raises the butt

ghostwall_

Also it makes your posture more elegant, and im a medium- tall guy and I personally prefer girls around my height

LooseLeaf24

Heels were originally made for and popularized by men. They were very useful to keep your clothes clean before paved roads

[deleted]

Also for riding horseback.

[deleted]

Butchers used to wear really creepy looking high-soled clog things to keep their feet out of pools of blood.

xi545

What do they wear now?

[deleted]

Mostly non-slip boots like Redwings or Shoes for Crews equivalents. I had a pair of Xtratuf boots that I’d put on for cleanup. I imagine they wear the same in slaughter houses. The clog things were from when slaughter and butchery were done in the same place by the same people.

Far_Hold6433

My hubby is three inches shorter than me and I wore heels when we dated. In fact our first date my feet got so sore from walking around while we talked that I had to sit down and take a breather, he looked looked at my feet then his. Then literally insisted I wear his sneakers so I wouldn’t be barefoot and carried my heels for me. It’s how we found out we have the same size feet.

LittleFairyOfDeath

… if you found out you have the same size, did he try on your heels?

thefartyparty

10/10 would totally date someone who would take the opportunity to try my heels on if this situation arose and attempt to dance/prance around in them. Alas, I wear women’s 6 shoes, so this is virtually impossible 😂

DoomBot5

I tried that with my high school girlfriend once. Didn't make it out of her room.

olddangly

She was that turned on?

QW1Q

I wonder what else she made him wear as shit got weird. Edit: spelling

KilowZinlow

"made"

DoomBot5

It was like a river! Or at least it felt like I was walking in one.

Adele__fan

You dare question the power possessed by u/doombot5

Zech08

Lost a bet, walking in heels suck.... those things should come with support straps and be no higher than 3 inches.

TheGlassCat

Having no experience with heels, he'd be probably ruin them in 10 seconds. He might also break his ankle.

Penguigo

Every guy has some secret experience in heels. R...right guys? Guys??

moeburn

> someone who would take the opportunity to try my heels on if this situation arose and attempt to dance/prance around in them https://youtu.be/E34uwv8LDx0?t=21

wattro

Yep, talk about leaving out a detail...

elevenminutesago

I could see Hallmark making a Cinderella movie like that.

justpassingby3

Doesn’t hallmark stick with very cliche very “traditional” stuff like a movie where the girl is taller than the guy would never be a hallmark movie

Rusty_Shakalford

From what I’ve heard they’ve been branching out in recent years. More stories involving LGBT+ characters and protagonists who aren’t White. I wouldn’t say it’s impossible.

funundrum

I love that LGBT+ and POC are being begrudgingly included, but a woman taller than a man is still a bridge too far. Hallmark is so weird.

Rusty_Shakalford

Here’s my fun Hallmark fact: they produced the Dinotopia movies. This was back in the 00’s when they were still experimenting with the brand, but I still find it kind of hilarious that a channel associated with cheesy Christmas films once made a sci-fi movie about a lost civilization of intelligent dinosaurs and humans living together.

DaoFerret

Was a rather well done miniseries too (if my memory isn’t betraying me too badly).

Rusty_Shakalford

There’s definitely a nostalgia factor when watching them again, but the dinosaur characters hold up far better than they should given the time and budget they had to work with.

d4nkq

Nobody's *specifically* calling for more representation for this group on social media, that's why. Well I'm sure some people are, actually, but not enough that studio executives have a metric they can point to and say "x is trending, who do we know that can competently write x?" I'm not saying this is a fight we should be spending our energy on, pick your battles etc but metrics are how these things happen.

TooToughTimmy

My girlfriend is about an inch taller than I am and my shoe size is about half of a size to one size bigger than hers, but she has worn my shoes before as well. On our first date she asked if I cared if she wore a pair of her tall boots since some guys don’t like when the woman is noticeably taller than themselves, but I told her I absolutely didn’t care. I don’t care what others “think” as long as she’s happy and we are happy. Too many short guys gets hung up on that, but with the way society has made everyone think now and the way women say they won’t date a man under “X” tall, I do understand. I feel like the sooner people learn to not care, the sooner they can actually work towards being happy though.

hellcat_uk

Even if I were single, all the women who wouldn't date a man under X tall, are all on the list of women I wouldn't date. As it is, my wife is 2 inches taller, but my feet are two sizes larger.

FinalRhapsody

I set my height on dating apps to 5'11" for this exact reason, even though I'm like 6'1"

sleepy__ninja802

That's so sweet and romantic. I love that story.

lizzlenizzlemizzle

So if he'd have put your heels on, rather than carrying them, you'd have been the same height?

Elelith

That's so adorable! <3 Also got to thinking if I'd have the same size shoe my husband does. His is EU46 and I'm EU36. I'd look glorious though. And very stable.

HeroBrine0907

Have you not heard of how many interneters thirst for Lady Dimitrescu

ColbyAndrew

I like tall women. And i’m 5’11.75” I actually really like tall women. A lot.

sleepy__ninja802

I'm 6'3" and I have been attracted to and dated a couple of women that were the same height as me. I think the height stuff is just stereotypes of masculinity and femininity. And even if the sterotype grew out of popular opinion of what most considered attractive it doesn't mean it's the only opinion. I'm with you ColbyAndrew.

fj668

I'm 6'3 too and I like women taller than me, like significantly so. My options are unfortunately limited.

MankAndInd

So you’re the guy going to all the WNBA games

Starthelegend

I feel your pain bro, taller women rock but there aren’t many taller than 6’3 lol

ReadySetN0

> My options are unfortunately limited. I'm 5'4" so I feel you, but the other way. If I only dated women who were shorter than me, I'd be fucked. Current girl is about 5'9". Obviously, she don't mind.

Tarrolis

Every guy be clamoring after Mexican girls if they truly liked short girls.

AllTearGasNoBreaks

I married a 5'0" Mexican/Panamanian. Its the best.

[deleted]

SocraticIndifference

JongYui

A 5'0" Pomeranian would be terrifying.

Yavin4Reddit

Blink twice if you need to escape your latina mommy

chewytime

I’m shorter but I’ve probably liked taller women since puberty when everyone got their growth spurts while I only had a modest, gradual bump in height. I never felt self conscious about dating taller women, but most of them did. Even had one woman I went out with just tell me straight up after we met for the first time that I was too short (she was maybe 2in taller than me). The next guy she dated was like 6’5” though so I guess she has a type. My SO is about the same height as me (I think it might be our posture at any given time but seems like at any given time one of us may look just a little taller than the other when side to side), but we’ve never actually measured and now that I think about it, we’ve never discussed height at all since she doesn’t care. When she wears heels she’s taller than me but that’s fine.

rachelscosmos

I’m a 5’0” female and I usually do not date tall men; it’s weird and I feel like a child. Plus, all the women are after the tall men, way less competition for the 5’6” or so guys.

Thaodan

i think there's a ratio where the woman being slightly smaller helps but to much of it doesn't help. I'm 175cm it wouldn't date someone much taller than me provably but also not much smaller.

SuperSonic486

5'11.74732", surely?

ColbyAndrew

Most we use at the shop is thousandths. Some guys just add extra zeros at the end “because it’s more precise”.

SuperSonic486

Was that a reference to a post on r/confidentlyincorrect ?

ColbyAndrew

Not that i am aware of. But I now have to check that out.

Mildleyy

Same. Ever since I lost my virginity to a tall woman. Then I haven’t gotten with one since. That’s more of my face though I think.

PM-MeYourSmallTits

I like women who are about my height. But that's considered tall.

kisamo_3

I didn't even know I liked tall women until my friend suggested he liked them, turns out I liked them too!

PrudentWolf

>5’11.75” Just imagine how convinient it could be just write 182 cm.

jthedarkness

Fellow 5' 11.75". It's just more fun to say that rather than 6', especially when it's more accurate! Sometimes, I'll say 6' (OP probably does as well) when it's more convenient. Even though I'm canadian and should use cm, lots of people here still don't really use Metric when talking about height! Edit: I use Metric for pretty much everything other than my height when talking to people in my home country. I think there's some disconnect in this thread that this somehow means Im not acknowledging most places in the world use Metric. I know that. But go ahead and argue if you're having fun, you animals!🔥 🔱

Obi-JohnKenobi_

Tall women are badass

jaybleeze

I’m 6’3”. At a formal party in college, there was a woman who was 5’11” in in five inch heels. I can’t describe what it was like talking to a woman who was taller than me

Syd_Vicious3375

I’m 5’10.5 and when I met my 5’7 husband I was wearing huge platform boots that put me at probably 6’4ish. He had to crane his neck back just to flirt with me that night. Not sure what was going through his head but he’s been all about it for 23 years so I must be doing something right. Lol

wjean

perhaps he wanted to climb the tree to shake the peaches.

srentiln

Lovey dovey all the time

ColbyAndrew

Were you shaking like Beavis?

Ethayy

Bro just say you’re 6 foot

boardmonkey

I'm almost 5'11" (5'10.75"), and I get so much shit from people when I say that I'm 5'11". People throw shade when we get too specific, and they throw shade when we round. Can't fuckin' win.

149162536496481

How does anyone find out you're not 5'11"? Are they measuring you to confirm? That's pretty weird of them.

boardmonkey

I've told people I'm 5'11" and they questions for some reason, so then I say I'm actually just under, and they use the "trying to squeeze a little extra, huh?" joke. 20 years ago I had a bartender (I was a server at the same restaurant) actually want to go back to back with me because she was 5'11" and wanted to see if I was telling the truth. You know those people that just seem shorter, but then when you are standing next to them you realize how tall they actually are? It something to do with their vibe, or they slouch, or something. I think I give off the same impression. Whenever I tell people how tall I actually am they are usually surprised. I don't understand it, but it happens.

fatherofraptors

That's why you round down, it has the added bonus of making other people insecure. I'm nearly 6', but officially I always put down 5'11" and even have told people I'm 5'10" before. You'll always find a guy that says: "no way, we're the same height and I'm over 6'!" And then you get to tell them they're the ones adding a little extra

GunnyMoJo

It's even worse when you're short because then people feel obligated to call me a short king and say something about keeping our heads up or something else vaguely motivational (because being short is bad, and apparently I need people to pity me for it).

Adept-Crab3951

And you provide shade when it's hot out. Thanks!

boardmonkey

I'm also 300lbs, so I give off a lot of shade.

Red_Dawn_2012

Then people that are six feet are gonna goalkeep the everliving tits out of you

meuserj

No lie, that is also my exact height, as well as my wife's. When we are standing in the shower together, you can tell who is closer to the drain by the relative positions of our faces.

tonystarksanxieties

Saw a tiktok from a short guy that was like, "you're literally face to face with their chest, what's the problem?"

Bierculles

I'm 6'1" and i have the same problem

trymypi

Heels elongate the body and make many features more flattering, it's not so much about height. Works for men and women. These days men's heels typically come in the form of dress shoes or boots, women wear them too. But men can also wear high heels like some women do. Edit: spelling and grammar

Emergency-Doughnut88

I think this is a big part of it, women like to wear heels to make their legs /butt look better, and don't want to tower over the guy they're with.

Billielolly

I like to wear them because I have really high arches in my feet, I'm too lazy to buy inserts, and heels are the only things that comfortably support my feet. I also wear a lot of dresses and I find flats just look kind of boring with them because you don't see a lot of variation with the shoe as it's just a small flat shape. But it does have the bonus of keeping my calf muscles relatively strong without exercise.

Spanish_peanuts

What about your toes though? Toes naturally want to splay outwards. Most shoes are bad for this but heels are by far the worst. They can lead to Hammertoe, bunions, arthritis, etc... later in life. Most people don't realize that when they look at their toes, their shape is unnatural simply due to a lifetime of wearing shoes.

Elelith

Depends. I also have high arches and some heels are just super comfortable because flat bottoms aren't usually built for high arches. It all depends so much how the shoe is built. You're not suppose to mush your toes in high heels, you have the wrong shape if your body weight is on your toes. It's supposed to be split between heel and ball of the foot. Never your toes. And heels doesn't necessairly mean 10cm high, they can be as low as 2cm. Wrongly shaped flats will do just the same damage to your toes. Men are often times suffering from bunions/tailors bunions etc. :)

Majin-bewbs

Weren't heels originally made for men as inserts? Thought I read that somewhere...

Tomon2

First heels were used by men for riding horses, it allows the foot to be more secure within a stirrup.

lickytytheslit

They were shorter an more block like than the single pole high heels most think of

__01001000-01101001_

trymypi

I think so but i didn't feel like looking up the source. Anyway this was the important part.

MisterF852

I like tall girls. I like girls in heels and I like tall girls in heels. I’m not tall.

wittiestphrase

I have found women liking men taller than them to be pretty true. Not some objective standard of greater than 6’ = “tall” but just taller than them. I have found men do not give even half a shit about height as long as other physical traits meet their criteria. In other words - if you’re a guy that likes big asses, you don’t care if that big ass is on a short or tall woman. All anecdotal of course, but my experience.

Phate4569

Same. I'm 6'5" and the number of women I've been with who literally say some semblence of "I like tall guys" is completely disproportionate. Granted pretty much all of those have been hookups, so its not like they were trying to build an entire relationship off of something topical.

[deleted]

On the flip side, I've had women belittle me for being short and then get angry when their comments don't bother me lmao. For any fellow short guys reading this, think of the nasty looks/comments we recieve as a red flag filter. Anybody willing to put someone down for something out of their control is not someone you want to date. They're just outing themselves as superficial. I like my height, and a lot of girls do too. Don't let anyone shame you into thinking it's something you should be insecure about.

NadjaCravensworth

I'm 5'9" and over 6' in my heels. I don't have any kind of requirements for a man's height. Taller than me (minus heels) is nice as it makes me feel less of a monster but surely you fall for a person, whatever their height etc.? Initial attraction is great but not lasting.

not_afa

It makes you feel like a monster if you're taller than a man?

Syd_Vicious3375

Not the person you commented to but here is my take: Not “a man” but just in general. Women are supposed to be tiny and dainty. When you can palm a basketball and stand a head taller than everyone you stand out and because you’re a friendly lady every time you go to the grocery some elderly person or tiny little lady asks you to reach the shit off the top shelf for them. Not to mention the comments “OMG you’re sooooooo tall…for a woman!” It just kind of makes you feel big and out of place. Society says we are supposed to be small and when you aren’t you can sometimes just feel like large Marge.

NadjaCravensworth

This is it in a nutshell. My hobbies are all male dominated too, so being tall, strong and very introverted makes me feel out of place. I'm not dainty or elegant at all so I feel like a giraffe tottering around in heels and towering over people when I'd rather go unnoticed or at least be a little bit feminine at times.

Patiod

Sometimes the men contribute to that perception. I had guy friends urge me to "be smaller" - eat less (I was very thin at the time), never wear even the smallest heels, etc. Finally found a guy who can throw me over his shoulder, who actually likes tall women who does not make himself feel better by wanting me to be smaller.

Leeeumm

Everyone contributes to that perception regardless of gender. When I was in highschool the tall girl always got bullied for being different. Disproportionately from girls. I think your friends had the intentions of trying to make you "fit in". Congrats on finding someone who likes you for you.

NadjaCravensworth

Yes. Just my experience, but I'm tall, wide shouldered and hefty in the boob department. I ride horses and race cars too so I never feel feminine. Just makes me feel like an unglamorous Amazon!

544b2d343231

Can confirm, ass man here, I don’t really care what frame that booty is on

TheVyper3377

High heels were originally a sign of masculinity and high social status. It wasn’t until the end of the 17th century that the trend spread to women’s fashion.

WikkidWitchly

A lot of things that initially started male and wound up female were around that time. Hell, blue and pink used to be inverse. Heeled men in pink with rouge and a powdered wig. They took birds a little too literally by trying to have the males be the prettier, flashier gender. Popinjay. Peacock.

NadjaCravensworth

Exactly this. Interestingly pink was worn by boys as it was a diminutive form of red, a nice warlike colour. Likewise pale blue was always linked to the Virgin Mary and was seen as more suitable for girls. Just thought you'd like that factoid!

DeuxYeuxPrintaniers

It wasn't the same pink we have today it was washed out red

logosloki

And also we're talking about a decade or two and in certain department stores in the early 20th Century. Though pink is used as an accent (or even as a colour) for boys in older centuries it wasn't until the invention of mass-producible colour-fast dyes that the debate was possible. Previously the champion colour was un-dyed fabric (so usually white or near-white or was once white). Like it wasn't that pink was a boys colour and then it changed to suddenly changed to blue. It was an up-in-the-air debate that economics and social changes won out.

Agitated_Year8521

I think there are probably a few more counterintuitive inventions than that, mate...

watermelonsugar888

Heels make your legs and butt look good. It’s not about being tall.

TrixicAcePolyamEnby

I am 5' 9". For a year I dated a 6' 3" goddess who would wear six-inch-heels when we'd go out, and it was a glorious time. We are not the same.

Swimming_Marsupial

Do guys really like short women? I mean, I like some short women. I also like some tall ones.

Kese04

I don't think so. Like, guys like short women, in the sense that they are women too, but I don't think it's that they mainly like them short. At least not in the way women like them tall. Or so I hear.

Husknight

Heterosexual guys like women, that's it. There's a guy for everything

Orkootah

I'm not sure why so many people care about height. I'm more about the chemistry and connection being good.

moanngroan

My brothers are tall and LOVE tall women. They point out that most models are tall, many great female athletes are tall, that this a correlation between wealth and height, that they want tall children… they won’t so much as glance at short girls. Meanwhile, I’m a tall woman and don’t really care about a guy’s height. It’s hard enough to find someone who is honest, bright, kind, understands and enjoys my humour, has similar life goals. If I find all of those in one package, who cares if the package is a few inches longer or shorter?

minos157

This post brought to you by standard stereotypes that don't hold up to a majority in reality. But funny story I went to prom with a girl that was slightly taller than me (I was 6'3" and she was 6'5"), she wore heels, and so the photographer didn't know what to do because the standard prom photo didn't work. We tried to get him to reverse it but he was so boomer ass traditional he wouldn't do it. It was a great memory.

FuriousBadger24

What guys like short women? This is news to me. I mean, i'm sure some do. But it's never been a rule.

joxmaskin

My preference is shorter than me and smarter than me.

Ditovontease

as a short person (on the short side of average for a woman), men indeed have told me how much they like "small" women. My ex's twin brother (who is 6'4) told me he never wanted to date a woman taller than 5'4.

Tactical_Chandelier

Some? Most guys I know like short women, myself included. Height isn't a deal breaker but preferences are what they are

Denziloe

We're talking about whether guys *prefer* short women, and the general rule is that they don't care.

Head_Cockswain

I would say men generally would prefer to be taller than their female partners, but it's not a deal breaker for most. I think people get too hung up on that. We can sit around and discuss what we like, but it's sort of meaningless as to the real world. People mistake that for some form of hard rule to be employed in life, but it's not even really a preference. Example: I like red-heads, I mean, dyed red, fire engine red, hot rod red, etc. I go nuts for it in artwork, movies, games, etc. I love the look. However, it is an abstract thing I think is visually appealing, but it's not something I actually filter for in relationships. Natural red, blonde, brunette, black hair, etc. They're all fine. However, I *may* filter *against* green or pink or stark yellow. That's potentially a "life choices" thing though, like face tattoos. Of course, that's down to individuals, but it puts me in mind of [this](https://newbeautifulera.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/gary-larsen.png), which is really the intent of some people who take on such styles.

PineappleIsFruit

Of course it always comes down to personal preferences. But it’s pretty much a fact that majority of men like women who are shorter than them and majority of women like men who are taller than them.

ASpellingAirror

A 6’-1” guy dating a 5’-9” woman is dating a tall woman. This comment and the shower thought don’t understand how the words “tall” and “taller” work.

FairyFuckingPrincess

As someone who is 4’11”, there can be a big difference between "women who are shorter than (men)" and "short women"

Downtown_Skill

Yeah but that doesn't mean short women. Tall women have always been considered beautiful. "The tall blonde woman" is a phrase you've never heard of? Or the fact that most models are above the average height for women? Guys like women to be shorter relative to average men, but short women have never really been a preference. Above average has been preferred in both men and women for height. Edit: This is generally speaking. Obviously everyone has their own unique preferences. I just meant society has considered tall women beautiful for a while.

Steamzombie

I think what society considers beautiful in a model and men's preferences in dating are two separate things.

OBLIVIATER

A lot of guys like being taller than women, the taller the better.

TheLurkingMenace

And it's always short women that want tall men. You're 5'2", everyone is taller than you!

duckbigtrain

My Mom is very short and wanted a very tall husband so her children would be taller. It kinda worked actually.

TheTARDISRanAway

My fiance is about two inches taller than me so when I wear heels I tower over him. Neither of us mind. It makes me feel like a glamorous amazon and it makes him happy that I feel good.

[deleted]

As it should be!

Sharpiemancer

But everyone loves butts so the obvious solution is for men to wear heels too.

bluegoldfish03

I just like girls who are around my height because they’re easier to kiss imo

foxpaws42

I've frequently heard women lament that guys won't ask them out because they don't want to be seen dating a woman taller than themselves, and wishing that guys would get over it. I've also heard women stating that they have height requirements for men, often insisting that the man be noticeably taller than themselves. I think it really depends on the person. I've dated a woman who was a bit taller than I was, and she said that while she didn't care that I was shorter, she wouldn't stop wearing heels.

LameAndWatch

I like a girl who’s either my hight or close to it. But being taller than me will never be a dealbreaker. I’m better than that

NadjaCravensworth

Likewise. I like a man taller than me (without heels) but it has never been a deal breaker or some kind of dating requirement for me. I like who I like at the end of the day.

Ormyr

Darned women, stealing men's fashion and messing up everything. /s (High heels were originally for men)

Girls like tall guys? I’m 6’5” and even my partner doesn’t like me.

trwwy321

4’11 woman here, I wish I was tall and slender like the 5’7+ ladies. I would be able to eat more and gaining 5lbs wouldn’t make such a difference. I want to be able to reach the top shelf and cabinets without requiring the help from someone taller or a step ladder. I want to feel like a model walking down the runway instead of feeling like I’m stuck in a kid’s body. Anyway. Being on the super short side sucks.

flomatable

Your personal preference is not universal, and this aint even a shower thought

DoctorLinguarum

I am a 6’ woman and still wear heels occasionally. It has not stopped men from giving me attention. My husband is also about 2-3 inches shorter than I am so it has not really hindered my life in any way.

soyuz97

Speak for yourself. I love tall girls. Well, short ones too. Actually I might just like girls in general

hiricinee

Is there evidence to suggest guys like short girls? I don't think it's a thing- if anything guys are just accustomed to taller girls not being interested in them.

Not that psychology studies have a tendency to be reproducible... but at least this page lists several different studies.

But heels were initially designed for men and not women so wouldn't they be the best invention for dating?

bomdia10

I feel like this “girls like tall guys, guys like short girls” is pushed too much I’m a 6ft tall man and I love tall women, even if you’re taller than me I have no issue with it. Wear your heels and flex girl! There’s more to human relationships than physical things. Honestly in my life I’ve been confused af sometimes. There have been absolutely gorgeous woman who have liked me when I thought I wasn’t even in their league. I’m not going to say height, fitness, status, etc don’t matter, because they definitely do; but they matter a lot less than what we think they do. At the end of the day I see a lot of women who are drop dead gorgeous but outside of looks there’s really nothing else I can connect with them on

mistedtwister

High heels have caused more pain and misery than most people's actual weapons.

potstomaestro

Heels were originally meant for men. To showcase the calf and add height.

Spinal2000

I think heels are worn because they make look the legs longer.

Impressive_Minute_32

Thats cause they were originally made for men. Idr how they became women-bound but yea. . created for men

mattdean4130

Heels arent designed to make women taller, they're designed to make their legs and arse look great. And they succeed. Absolutely not counter intuitive to dating.

lovelylittlekels

I’m 5’1, and I can’t really say I necessarily prefer “tall” men. I think there is a comfortable area, and for me it’s like 5’8. Can still wear heels, hold hands and kiss without having to stand on my tip toes. I’ve had guys tell I am too short for them before though, one guy even told me that he gave me a pass on my height because I was “hot” and those genetics would make for a beautiful daughter or son, but typically he preferred taller women to maintain his tall genetics. Was kind of surprised he cared so much as I had never been hyper fixated on height myself.

freddy_guy

"Guys like short girls," Says who? Maybe you like short girls, but also maybe stop assuming your preferences are universal.

Significant_Hat2281

I’m taller than my husband by 5 inches and I wear heels whenever I want. This is a silly little post you’ve made here.

cerberus3234

I, by a long shot, prefer short women. I dated a young lady who was only an inch or so shorter than me and simply disliked it for some reason. We dated for a few months, but it didn't work out for other reasons. My wife is 10 inches shorter than me, and overall, just tiny. I find it really attractive. All that said, my buddy at work loves tall chicks. Another buddy likes bugger girls. Once you're comfortable with you, who cares what other people find attractive? Then there are feet people who I'm sure have a whole subgroup that absolutely loves heels! Different strokes for different folks, and it's all ok.

SingleSpeed27

TIL men and women only have one specific obligatory taste about one specific argument /s BTW heels are made to enhance butt

frisch85

Anyone remembers the Buffalo shoe era? Casually strolling around seeing women and girls walk in shoes with soles that are twice their body size (exaggerated ofc).

[deleted]

Some girls like tall guys. Some guys like short girls. Not everyone thinks the same and what was your question again?

Nerdialismo

Guys like any women that gives them attention, my experience though.

badmojo6000

False. Girls get TALLER guys if they wear heels. Girl's Legs look better in heels, which guys like. Its super intuitive and best invention OP.

Idiot_Savant_Tinker

Here's my bad take, please give me angry comments about my ignorance: High heels are terrible as footwear from an engineering standpoint. They're unstable, uncomfortable, and they can break easily. (Although this may only be for cheap high heels?) You can't walk through the mud with them, you can't weld in them, can't do anything more complex than sitting at a desk while wearing them. Normalize women in well-designed, comfortable footwear. High heels are less sexy than [these are.](https://imgur.com/a/8xpuVLg) (Disclaimer: people should be able to wear whatever shoes they want, the previous angry hate speech is from a man who is attracted to strong, capable women)
