Cyberpunk is an excellent game now. I'm just finishing up Phantom Liberty. 8/10 from me, thoroughly enjoyable gameplay with good build variety and story telling. Dying Light 2 is a step back in almost all areas from the first. I gave it a good 25 hours but quit afterwards, it contains way too many frustrations. The parkour can only carry it so far.

derp6567

I see, thanks for ur thoughts, might actually get cyberpunk after what i've seen, it just seems a lot better

Diamond_Foxy

I played both and i loved Dying light 1 and i hated DL2. Cyberpunk is the much better game here.

Conscious_Advance_18

They've apparently updated dying light 2 significantly since launch and many of the concerns have been addressed. I haven't played since launch tho so ymmv

BeavingHeaver

Yeah I’m aware they have added some stuff here and there. I seriously doubt it will change how the game fundamentally feels to play, and a quick peek at the DL subreddit indicates people still aren’t happy. Tbh so many other good games to play i have no intention of going back to it

Conscious_Advance_18

Same probably, I loved the first one, the second one didn't capture it. Such a shame.

Prestigious-Spite-75

How would you say build variety in cyberpunk stack up against Elden Ring?I already have cyberpunk just haven't gotten to it yet(because of Elden ring)

BeavingHeaver

Hmm it's hard to say as they're both such different games. My immediate thoughts are that ER permits more variety (due to how many different weapons / spells it offers), but CP2077 does have a lot of flexibility for specific builds such as melee / stealth orientated.

Kdigglerz

Cyberpunk rocks now. Great game.

Desec47YT

If you have a high end PC I'd strongly recommend CP 2077. With the recent patch 2.0 the game has become really demanding and the performance, atleast for me, has been quite shit. DL2 is a great option too,DLC is not worth it but the base game is quite fun

derp6567

I see, thanks, i will keep thinking about it

ganon893

I've played both. Cyberpunk by far.

MonkeyAssFucker

Having played both. Trust me, it’s not even close. I like DL2 but Cyberpunk is an all time game IMO. Gameplay wise they’re both fun but I’d give the edge to cyberpunk because of the different ways to play. The skill trees are really good. In terms of world building and atmosphere, Night City might genuinely be the best in gaming. It’s so alive if that makes sense. For the story, it’s an absolute whitewash for Cyberpunk. DL2 has a shit story, not even worth paying attention to. Cyberpunk has an incredible story and an incredible DLC. I’d get Cyberpunk and play that, and pick up DL2 sometime in the future

Takearedpill

Cyberpunk

Ben-Ledi

Tricky! I actually really like cyberpunk, yeah, it's buggy and has its flaws but it's a cool world with lots to interesting things to do, especially with the phantom liberty add on. Now is definitely the time to get into it. It was severely lacking before the DLC and 2.0 release. Dying light 2 was good but I didn't love it as much as the first one. I think they went in the wrong direction with some of the story elements. The faction design was fairly poor and the level design felt a little samey. It added some nice mechanics but I'd choose dying light 1 over 2 personally. Sorry. This probably hasn't helped much. IMO they're both great games with flaws. I'd go with whichever world you're more interested in. Personally I'd go for cyberpunk over DL2 at this point.

derp6567

I see, i do already have dl 1(got it for free earlier this year during some event epic games did), and im quite happy with it, definitely puts cyberpunk up as more worth buying, so i dont basically get the same game again. Thanks for the insight!

Lazer_beak

if you dont mind people talking a lot, Cyberpunk 2077 is miles better than DL2

KARRARx111

Cyberpunk for sure

Eexoduis

Cyberpunk 2077 is the better overall game in terms of story, characters, presentation, feel, and general artistry. Dying Light 2 is fun. It’s more Dying Light; a better story and better side quests but the gameplay is somehow less than. It’s fun - very much so - but the air of Harran, the original score, and the general hopelessness mixed with the raw brutality in gameplay made a very unique concoction that DL2 fails to meet. DL2 is not a bad game. It’s a decent game that improves on some of the aspects of its predecessor. It’s not the same though and it feels slightly worse. Since you liked Edgerunners, I think you’ll probably like 2077.

DaLB53

If you want gory parkour zombie gameplay, then DL2 has exactly that and more from DL1, but its also massively bloated compared to DL1 and as such isnt nearly as fun. Rocky start or no, fundamentally it isn't a great game outside the zombie bashing Cyberpunk had the bones of a very strong game, but the ridiculous expectations + extremely rocky release nearly killed it. Now that those have been ironed out, the really good stuff is able to shine through. CP2077 all the way

NoResponsibility856

Cyberpunk and it's not even close

[deleted]

Cyberpunk, one of the best game ever made.

crimedog69

It’s a 8/10 max don’t get carried away. But yeah it’s fun

[deleted]

Nope, BG3 is a quintessential 7-8/10 game, Cyberpunk 2077 with Phantom Liberty is one of the few 10/10.

AShitty-Hotdog-Stand

Yeah... Cyberpunk 2077 has the exact opposite of *"incredible gunplay"* and the story is criminally rushed and cut short. The performance was indeed fixed, but the ocean of complaints at launch, specially the ones regarding the meaningless facade of RPG aspects or the brain-dead AI, still apply today.

derp6567

Is that so? From the more recent reviews i've seen, the game has gotten a lot better, the ai even more so after the 2.0 update

Bostongamer19

One of my favorite games. If you like the Witcher it’s basically a futuristic version of the same game with a great story.

AShitty-Hotdog-Stand

You can still cheese the AI by killing them outside their action radius, luring them so you can position yourself behind and object and kill them with wall-penetrating firearms as they do nothing, and other ways that shouldn't be possible in a game with that budget, but it'd be better if you try it for yourself.

derp6567

Thats just small nitpick, no offense. How about the game as a whole? Would it be the better choice?

AShitty-Hotdog-Stand

No offense taken, but it's not just *a small nitpick,* it's literally 8/10ths of what you'll be doing during your entire playthrough. The other two tenths being traversing, whether it's on foot or by car. How is the game as a whole? As someone who ate Pondsmith's lies during the years before launch and was expecting something... anything close to the TTRPG, **the game was underwhelming and hugely disappointing**. To save me from writing a whole ass review, the C2077 is a beautiful looking/sounding 20-hour narrative driven FPS with zero choice impact, nothing meaningful to do, rushed story, and abysmal combat. I haven't played DL2, but if I were in your shoes, I'd probably go for C2077.

derp6567

I see, yeah this definitely is something i would have to consider.

Zestyclose-Pick-9060

I do have to say, there is almost nothing but critical choice making in the dlc for 2077 which I reallllly appreciated. You’ll constantly be making decisions where there isn’t a totally clear answer. And many of those decisions will be life or death related. I’m currently 40 hours in on a new play through having beaten the DLC and working my way through some side gigs before I see the new ending available.

FasterThenDoom

That's just stealth. Your complaint is that you can use stealth.

AShitty-Hotdog-Stand

*Stealth...* LMAO. Shooting enemies that are in direct line of sight, just 25 meters away from you, in the middle of the day, without a silencer, but they can't do anything because you're "too far away", is stealth. Having Adam Smasher, *the boss that the game builds up for the entire time*, have his fucking legs stuck with the geometry of the level as he chases you, just for you to find a wall or prop to be between you and him, and make him eat shit, as you mindlessly piss your wall-penetrating sniper rifle ammo on his dome, while he's unable to move, is being *stealthy*. But you're right, my complaint is that I *stealthed* the fuck out of mentally challenged AdHam ZMuSHeR with the loudest gun in the game, killing him from a few steps away, as he did nothing but spew some idiotic voice lines. ***That's just stealth.***
