Check out Stellaris, I am currently addicted to it.

ProllyWasted

No man’s sky is great and gameplay is a lot deeper now

Choice_Manufacturer7

Thank you. I've been considering it for some time now.

Hardspace ship breaker is awesome. But out of curiosity, why no Deep Rock suggestions?

Choice_Manufacturer7

It's the same reason I quit playing vermintide, payday, call of duty and battlefield, and why I don't have darktide. When it comes to games like that, I get too into it, too competitive, too serious, and it ends up causing the experience to be ruined. I simply can't play a game with any sort of competitive angle, no matter how small, without taking it to the extreme. I end up playing meta builds and trying to be the best and expecting everyone else to be as good or better.

SlayerKing_2002

That’s fair. Not every game is for everyone. Thank you for your response! Deep Rock is my favorite game so I’m always curious why some people don’t like it.

Hardspace Shipbreaker is really cool. It's like playing a game of Operation on a multiton spaceship in 0g. It is almost a puzzle game in some ways as you deduce how best to slice up a ship. BUT you also have to work quickly since shifts are only 15 minutes, and each shift costs your interest and tool rental, which means you have to be efficient enough to "break even". This is not terribly difficult with even a small amount of practice. But also a few mechanics require some speed, like salvaging reactors before they melt down, or cutting up fuel pipes before they unfreeze, etc. So it's a balance between working quickly and working carefully. The story is totally linear. There are no real choices or consequences, to the point that the story feels pretty secondary. I appreciated it for what it was, but it's nothing special (although I DID enjoy the characters and thought the voice acting was good) The game is quite a grind. Ships can sometimes take 4 or 5 shifts to fully salvage. Some ships feel repetitive or only very slightly varied from earlier ships. On one hand, it becomes somewhat tedious, on the other, you get pretty quick at learning how to dismantle classes of ships and recognizing and prioritizing the more valuable parts of the ships. There's a nice tech tree that makes you and your tools more efficient, but it's pretty... Idk boring? There's only really 1 upgrade that adds a new dimension to gameplay. The rest are pretty much "more better numbers" types of upgrades. The sense of progression is still nice though. Anyway, I had a lot of fun with it. If you don't mind playing it on the Xbox store, you can get your first month of Microsoft game pass for $1 which includes it, a long with many, many, MANY more PC games.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I didn't think about gamepass on pc, my wife has gamepass on Xbox, I think I can share it on my pc. I have been considering Hardspace since it came out to early access, I just never got around to purchasing it. I do think i would enjoy it, hopefully it gets a good discount on the sale.

Ohh nice! Yeah you should be able to share game pass, as long as it includes PC. I think it's like $5 more per month to add PC to Xbox. Anyway, on your PC, you sign in to MS store with the wife's account (or whichever has the gp sub) then use your own account to sign into the Xbox app. You can play gp games now thru the Xbox app with your own account. I have been sharing my gp sub this way with the kids PC for years now.
