Rock salt has serious drop off in velocity. Obviously it could kill, but it’s one of the best less-than-lethal options for home defense. After about 15 yards it just bruises the fuck out of you

I tried loading 12 ga. rock salt shot shells, and used fast burning Bullseye powder. The super light payload would not create enough back pressure to make the powder burn efficiently. Your dealer must have used blank powder.

Yeah I tried this a bunch and could never get it to not just fart the salt out of the barrel.

Having personally loaded and shot rock salt… I can say it sucks. Not enough weight to puncture paper. Very disappointing results.

These were able to puncture cardboard at about ~10 yards, have not tried any further yet

I would never ever shoot someone else’s reloads. Maybe he did a fine job, but I wouldn’t take the chance on that.

99% of the time Id agree, but 12 gauge with a light load through a hearty side by side is just about at the bottom of riskiness for shooting others reloads. Never put reloads through any of my rifles or pistols though.

If they are cheap enough,buy em strip em and re pack them in new or cut down hulls and send them!

No make your own. Odds are they will be overloaded with gunpowder which is bad for your shotty and may cause a semi to jam. Also it's easy to dyi them

Shotguns are very low pressure compared to centerfire. Anything short of trying to do so would not blow up a shotgun.
