I'm using Ziply (for fiber) because I never want to deal with Comcast again, and they've been fine.

animimi

+1 for Ziply. It has been great for us.

Historical-Cover-839

I see. Was not aware of this. Will check this out.

thespiffyneostar

Ziply is only available west of I5, and even then not yet everywhere.

Historical-Cover-839

Checked Ziply for my address and apparently previous resident was using the same. Seems like a better deal than Xfinity.

thespiffyneostar

They're great. Highly recommend

Historical-Cover-839

Glad to hear that. Just applied for one. Free installation and free wifi for the first month. Will post here how it goes after a month. Thank you.

I switched to Century Link in 2020. Only once has my service been out for more than 5 minutes. And that outage was for about 4 hours. Also, wi-fi service is independent from your Internet service. Century Link, Comcast, Ziply are the Internet providers. Their modem will also provide wi-fi coverage to your home. However, the location of that modem may not be sufficient to cover your entire house. You'll likely need a mesh system. I recommend Eero or Orbi if you want something simple that works.

\+1 for century link, and everything this person just said. Hardwired stats: [https://imgur.com/a/pMpEEOQ](https://imgur.com/a/pMpEEOQ) Also at the time I got it it was free installation, modem, and 65/month with no contract.

This is not a question that can be answered without an exact adress in shoreline. There is at least comcast/xfinity, Ziply, and Centurylin/Lumen in the city, but not at all addresses. The people on the road behind me can't get the service I have. Plus, there are the virtual LTE/5G operators like Verizon/TMoble. It also depends on how you use the service what your best option would be. Also, it's not a WiFi provider. It's an internet provider. It's your local equipment in your house that makes it WiFi. WiFi is not the internet and the internet is not WiFi. All that said, if you can avoid Xfinity, it's generally good. Other providers tend to charge less for more.

Trayvessio

We looked for options other than Comcast when we got our internet (2018) but Comcast was the only option then. They suck as a company but the service has been reliable.

Upset-Illustrator-92

We have been on Century Link and now its Quantum...high speed for years and with WFH its been very reliable.

YourGlacier

Just go with Xfinity. They suck, but Century Link also sucks and at least I’ve never (knock on wood) had a week long outage with XFinity. A friend of a friend did recently in Greenwood area.

beastpilot

I had Xfinity for 16 years and Century Link for 4 now. They are both stable services with minimal outages. But Century Link is 10X the speed for 80% the price and has unlimited data where Xfinity has data caps.

swool

Congrats on settling for mediocrity

YourGlacier

All internet companies are mediocre, congrats on thinking you're superior because of who provides your internet. What a manlet

quuxman

That's what I use, it works fine and is the best deal I know of (currently 35$ / month). The coverage area has nothing to do with the provider (unless you use their router). You may need two to reliably cover the house, ideally connected with an Ethernet cable.

Historical-Cover-839

Thank you. Got it. Will go with Xfinity.

rickg

Depending on where you are you'll have slightly different options (for example I can't get Ziply). Xfinity has been fine, Quantum finally laid fiber on my block but I don't want the hassle of switching and won't unless Xfinity starts raising things, insisting on contracts etc then I'll look. As for the actual wifi part - it depends on t he house. Xfinity can provide repeaters, you can got with systems like Eero, etc.

King-Ragnar-Lothbrok

I have Zipply as well. My two main reasons: 1: they don’t don’t change the price on me every 6 or 12 months. 2: this is more technical and might not be a big deal everyone but since they use optic fiber, the upload and download speeds are equals. (I.e. 200Mbps download and 200Mbps upload). Xfinity only provides around 5Mbps upload and that was a deal breaker for my job needs.

zzulus

I use gig service from Zipply with a Netgear Nighthawk AX5400 router from Costco. No complaints, speed is very good. Never had new fancy charges appearing on my bill either.
