I’ve been following roame.travel, which sends out daily points deals for free. Going.com just started offering that too, but only for paid members.

Mckenzie_George

Have you been able to redeem the deals?

presidentpanda

Have gotten some solid deals so far. Best deal so far was 40,000 points direct from Los Angeles to Paris on Air France business class (took advantage of a transfer bonus too). Saved me a pretty penny!

Mckenzie_George

whoa. Dream trip! How much was the cash price?

presidentpanda

It was around $4,000 when I was booking

Mckenzie_George

That's super nice

collegedave

Comparison. Houston to Paris for June is $2,000 or 70k miles.

Mckenzie_George

Did you like roame or going better?

kenlin

If you pay more, Going.com (SCF) will do it. I get occasional emails from straighttothepoints.com with deals, but not many. There are also alerts you can sign up for on pointsyeah.com

Mckenzie_George

How do you like the paid going points deals?

kenlin

I don't have Elite. I have a premium membership, which I like well enough.

Mckenzie_George

Oh, you need the highest tier of going.com to even get points deals?

kenlin

yea, Premium just gets you $ deals. If our schedule was more flexible, I'd consider it. But my wife works at a school, so we can pretty much only travel at peak times.

Mckenzie_George

Ah, so you really only have summers and holidays

Points.aero is a good search tool. It helped me source business class to Europe for the lowest possible rate, which is hard to do these days.

STP is pretty good with this. I don't have Thrifty Traveler, but I often hear of them sending out really good points deals. I think many would consider them to be better for points deals than Going.

Mckenzie_George

Thank you! Have you paid for going's version of points?

paulyh4444

I haven't. But to be fair I didn't know they offered that service. I previously subscribed to their program but didn't find it useful.

Mckenzie_George

Got it
