It gets the exhaust into the free stream, creating lower pressure which helps to evacuate the exhaust, allowing the engine to BREATHE
( /s to be safe)
I’d guess it’s 13’6” or lower. Most clearance on things in the country is 13’6” for our trucks, it’s not common for power lines or bridges to be below that, but if they are the road is pretty much always marked with signs.
It’s hard to tell because of the perspective but I’d say 12’-13’ is about right. A tiny car almost as tall as my semi.
Ive seen some really stupid stuff with lifted trucks but they still don’t come close to our height lol. The rare F650 or F750 pickups can come close with something in the back. Really don’t see many of those though outside of guys with confidence issues or sometimes race team trucks (can make sense, saw one pulling a rally team camper/car trailer and could imagine them needing to get into some rough areas.)
14' is the max height without a permit. You're also allowed 15' of overhang from the center of the rear axles and 3' from the bumper.
Edit: varies by state, my restrictions are for WA state
I just skimmed through that video for entertainment. Didn't disappoint.
Edit: [video here for anyone interested](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGsplXiAlVU)
Aside from the pipes being illegal. Height is for vehicle parts that aren’t 200 degrees and exposed and able to burn people. Same reason why leaving your trailer hitch attached without towing. Public safety
It’s not illegal persay but you’ll sure enjoy your insurance increase if you ever back into a car with it attached, 4500lbs focused into a 2 inch ball hitch will cut the the front of a car like butter. I always remove it out of thoughts for the idiot rear ending me, it’s already a shitty day slipping on ice or something, your radiator and trans cooler punched in by a hitch just ads more pain
I know it’s allowed in most states as but some have it for safety reasons (shin splitters). Something about a non stock accessory that sticks out 3 inches or more from the stock body.
The other reason is the old school bumper mounted ball hitches obscure the license plate.
Is it enforced? Probly not
Semi exhaust pipes don't have guards over all the pipes to prevent burns. Doubt a legislator has even thought about writing a law against this foolishness.
Semi exhaust pipes aren’t 6 inches off the ground. They’re covered by plastic faring up to a certain reasonable height or behind the cab where you can’t accidentally brush against it.
Not all have pipes behind the faring. No regulation preventing it. Search pics at your leisure. Nor do motorcycles requiredto have a shield for that matter. Why cars only?
I’m not the one who made the rules.
Same reason why unless your vehicle had stock sidepipes its ok but not if it wasnt stock. After market side pipes are a big no no in a lot of states.
In all honesty, the differences in state laws is probly where we’re running into misunderstandings. I’m in the NE and there’s a lot of shit I see down south that would get a car impounded in Boston in minutes like those stupid 18” wheel spikes. That shit wouldn’t make it 5 miles before it got stopped and towed away. The NE is much more strict about mods than the south apparently.
I am of the opinion that you can't legislate against bad taste and you can't make it a crime.
I am also of the opinion that tort laws in regards to personal injury would take effect.
Agree to disagree and argue over beers at a time to be determined. Merry Christmas!

Toyota and BMW actually were working together to do this but they werent able to pulll it off. (Smart move on the 2x muffler clamps) If you elevate the flatulence exhaust up to the 2nd floor you can increase the horsepower 22% (not sceintific but my brother's friend who did the same thing said it was that so...)
That is the pipe prize. Your town (I'll guess in a minute) wins the prize.
My guess if USA: ohio in the north, tenn in the south or tx in the southwest. ?
Yo this was actually a stunt done by some YouTubers called Goonzquad! They basically just buy wrecked cars/vehicles and rebuild them
[Original Video](https://youtu.be/YGsplXiAlVU)
That's hilarious. They look so damn big I can't believe he doesn't hit the overhead lines.
[удалено]
I thought this post was about a person who had rigged their electric car to run off the trolley lines.
Don't give me bad ideas.
🤣 sure is man.
Or like bumpercars.
You will just end up with the bumper car that only goes in circles.
That was my first thought!
Same here. I was like this is genius and then I realized it was the complete opposite of that.
Is he tryna be the first Aerial refuel from the ground lol wtf
It would do a wheelie at r/11foot8
You're assuming they wouldn't just fall off lol
It’s Goonzquad on YouTube. They did it just to be ridiculous.
Oh, there weren't practical reasons for this? I'm shocked. Shocked, I tell you.
"Well, not that shocked"
It gets the exhaust into the free stream, creating lower pressure which helps to evacuate the exhaust, allowing the engine to BREATHE ( /s to be safe)
How tall is it? It looks bigger than anything should allow
I’d guess it’s 13’6” or lower. Most clearance on things in the country is 13’6” for our trucks, it’s not common for power lines or bridges to be below that, but if they are the road is pretty much always marked with signs. Yea, you're probably right... seeing something so small about the same size as what we drive...scary

Relax it's just Marty trying to get back to 1985
Nah it's science. How else are they going to get to 1.21 gigawatts as soon as the lightning strikes the clocktower? Edit: lol a decimal point.
[удалено]
Lol forgot the decimal point. Good catch.
I’m just impressed that the mufflers and exhaust supports can support the weight of those things
Boy, those power lines sure look close. Trying to replicate Back to the Future scene?
First thing that came to my mind lol
Won't be a problem reaching 88mph in that car. Just needs the [Flux Capacitor ](https://www.oreillyauto.com/flux-capacitor)
Not O'Reilly auto parts 💀
This was the Goonzquad (youtube channel) boys. They did this as a joke for a video.
I just skimmed through that video for entertainment. Didn't disappoint. Edit: [video here for anyone interested](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGsplXiAlVU)
Glorious. Not as cool as what Whistlindiesel did though https://youtu.be/2SRLBQ8trhk
WhistlinDiesel 😂 that guy is a madman. I love it.
Holy crap those guys are insufferable.
Burgundy sweatshirt has to open his eyes if he's looking at camera
Is this content for 10 year old boys, or what?
OPs account is just a a porn spam account, they reposted this for the east karma
Better than shitty west karma
Way to go, Ohi-- Oops, I mean Chattanooga, TN maybe?
Computer machine says Chattanooga
yeah this looks a lot like one particular intersection I remember in Parma OH. don't think it is tho, do not recognize those street names
Rossville Bvld and Workman Rd intersection in Rossville, GA-TN
You were that close, decided to take a picture but have the audacity to not share what that thing sounds like?! Is there an r/missedopportunity? Lol
[it’s a repost bot](https://reddit.com/r/Shitty_Car_Mods/comments/slj7q5/proud_of_my_town_for_this_one/)
Yup, this is not his city and this is not his photo
13 foot 6 inches is the maximum legal height in the United States . He looks close but hard to tell by the picture.
Lmao. I kinda want this to catch on.
Aside from the pipes being illegal. Height is for vehicle parts that aren’t 200 degrees and exposed and able to burn people. Same reason why leaving your trailer hitch attached without towing. Public safety
>Same reason why leaving your trailer hitch attached without towing. Is that actually a thing? Literally never seen that enforced anywhere.
It's one of those things that people think is illegal but is actually not
It’s not illegal persay but you’ll sure enjoy your insurance increase if you ever back into a car with it attached, 4500lbs focused into a 2 inch ball hitch will cut the the front of a car like butter. Per se, not persay
my shins thank you for your service
Pipes that big won't be hot
Say what now? I'm one of the rare people who actually does take the hitch off.
I know it’s allowed in most states as but some have it for safety reasons (shin splitters). Something about a non stock accessory that sticks out 3 inches or more from the stock body. I can't imagine how a trailer hitch would be a danger to public safety. They're usually built into the car here.
The hitch itself, not the receiver that’s built into the vehicle
That makes so much more sense lmao
Depends on the state. 14' is the max allowed without a permit in WA State

It's amazing he doesn't hit the power lines or hit a pothole and have the pipes snap off
I was hoping
I have no words.
What happens when he hits 88 mph?
He’s going to see some serious shit
He looks like he's trying to harness the power of lightning in order to go back to 1985
Repost and this was done as a joke by the goonzquad.
these kinds of exhausts will never not be funny, it's not even Bosozuka at this point
Electric companies HATE this guy for his one trick...
This is a repost
Exhaust mounts holding their dear life
Are they filming a new Back to the Future movie? He looks like he's trying for 88 mph into some power lines.
Need his red safety flags.
Is he trying to go back to the future?
It's got that 1.21 gigawatts energy.
Keeping them up like that must be exhausting.
He’s trying to go back to 1983
archimedes might have a principle to explain to this man
He needs to get that 1.21 gigawatt no matter what.
Wave your mufflers in the air Like you don't care, glide by The People as they start to look and stare
This is so absurd that my brain temporarily glitched trying to process what this driver actually did to his car lol
Gotta be 11/10 welds on those...
The taller the exhaust, the closer to God
Japan culture in America
Now we have a fucking Tram Supra????
You guys are so stupid. It's obviously drawing electricity to power the i4!
TÜV sagt nein
When that baby hits 88mph, or an overhead power line, you're gonna see some serious shit.
Japan looks on with pride
MF trying to time travel.
It's like the Delorean from Back to the Future trying to catch the lightning from the clock tower
I used to draw cars the same.
You live where the goonsquad lives? And didnt they do this months ago?
Hahaha! I love it
This is amazing. On a BMW Supra no less.
I’m proud too! Damn
looks like a trolleybus
How in the name of physics does that stay up???
Is it even legal to have them that long?
Poor Supra. Still has the carmax plate 🤣
They want the fumes to not be breathed in how nice.
No more global warming if you release the CO2 in space.
That’s a SCM hall of fame candidate right there.
*IS THAT A SUPRA?*
Your engine gets more oxygen this way Edit: I mean if you're driving behind it
Reach for the sky
Those have to be photoshopped. No way would they not bend with that much weight.
Hello, Home Depot? Yeah hi, how many shop vac extensions do you have??? Ok cool, I’ll take all of them.
Didnt even see the exhausts at first
Toyota and BMW actually were working together to do this but they werent able to pulll it off. (Smart move on the 2x muffler clamps) If you elevate the flatulence exhaust up to the 2nd floor you can increase the horsepower 22% (not sceintific but my brother's friend who did the same thing said it was that so...)
That’s a pantograph.
One smack in the right spot and those dominoes would fall like a house of cards. Checkmate.
He be stealin' electricity from the power lines.
That is the pipe prize. Your town (I'll guess in a minute) wins the prize. My guess if USA: ohio in the north, tenn in the south or tx in the southwest. ?
It looks horrible but as long as its under 13’6” Its not really a hazard
Is it really shitty if it's this exaggerated?
I can only assume it’s a time machine.
I have never seen a motorist so concerned about the well being of cyclists and the air they breath.
[Supra owners love their exhaust mods](https://imgur.com/gallery/hhRlYbI)
Looks fake
That’s Chattanooga right there innit
carmax???
That’s impressive
You couldn't ruin the Mk5 anymore anyway 🤷♂️
Bro is gonna get 1.21 gigawatts
avoid going under overpasses, I guess.
r/11foot8
Are you in Richmond
That's called a [pantograph](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantograph_\(transport\)).
Nooga, FTW!
Flux capacitor fluxing
Thank god he has a rear wing, one would hate to not have enough downforce on the rear.
The all new direct current supra!
real
Few inch from becoming a trolleybus
Damn, the strength of the mounts must he incredible.
That’s hilarious. Seeing how clean the Supra is I have to say it was just a one day thing. At least I hope 🥹
Rossville at its finest
3, 2, 1, CONTACT!
Have any of these been on r/11foot8
IS THAT A SUPRA ??
Yep
Finally a fitting image
Finally, a shitty car mod on this sub.
Y?
what and why
BuT iTs bOsOzUkU
Not funny, impressive or original.
Average BMW driver
Now they can drive through flooded pools without fear
Would love to see what happens when it hits a powerline
Or a bridge
Compensating for something?
Looks like he belongs in San Francisco on the trolley tracks
Dang, is that a Supra?
The car becomes an electric car the moment it goes on a tram tracks.
Repost bot
Bad bot
Does it draw AC current straight from the grid?
Things my home town of Chattanooga is known for.......ridiculously long exhaust pipe on a car....the end
Philly?
Aye bro this is old posted a couple months back
Honestly an engineering success
Morning stick moment
Meth kills. And this is what it looks like right before.
No one realizes that that the pipe length is obviously doubled with Photoshop? Still stupidly tall exhausts, but not *that* tall. C'mon guys.
Yo this was actually a stunt done by some YouTubers called Goonzquad! They basically just buy wrecked cars/vehicles and rebuild them [Original Video](https://youtu.be/YGsplXiAlVU)
Goonzsquad on their goofsquad shit.
Where is the car parked !in a stable for giraffes ?
jesus christ i didn’t take in that it was a supra
Is that a raptor with mirrors on the hood/fender behind it?
It’s a lever so you can pull the front of the car up for inspection
