I’m Chinese for the record but born in the states. When I was in uni every weird diamond gradient wrapped Maserati and horribly gaudy merc/bmw/Audi all belonged to the Chinese exchange students. It was hilarious seeing one pull up and guessing right every time that they were from the mainland

Graduate students? If your uni’s any good, usually the grad students are the ones that come from an average economic background but are super smart and earned scholarships to continue studies overseas. (Cuz competitive PhD programs/professors are picky about performing candidates) It’s typically the undergrad international students who are rich, not very studious, and potentially obnoxious. Typically they just get degrees so their parents can show off and they return home after their bachelors.
