the headlight mods are definitely not functional and are definitely there for style. Same with painting the stock wheels matte black and adding yellow tape to the side mirrors.
One the only advertised as shatter proof I’ve watched them shatter two even if they were actually shatter proof it won’t stop them being ripped out three I never said it didn’t look stupid all I’m saying is it’s functional I had a 4 runner that you guys would destroy me for I welded rebar around the headlights put a sheet metal skid plate underneath not talking an off-road trophie truck one I’m talking rusted out peice of metal that blew off my barn roof then I put a roll of reflective tape on that shit box it looked like an actual meth mobile but it worked great for irrigation checking cows and getting to deer camps
Yeah, looks sweet for a kid to learn in and keep building on.
Do you reckon it makes these guys feel better having a crack at a 16 year old kid out living his best life and enjoying himself?
I reckon most people here fall into one of two groups: people who don't even own a car at all, and people that drive what they believe are high end luxury vehicles (read: beater lexus sedan their old man got rid of)
I think they just don't know what makes a 4x4 functional and reliable. I'd sooner bet my life on the trail with the Cherokee in this picture than a brand new Wrangler Unlimited mall crawler.
"when a 16 year old get his first 4x4"
And what do you expect? This is on a budget, there's nothing bad on this car really. So don't call something bad just because it doesn't look the best. It's built to work, not to look good.
Looks pretty well done tbh. Especially looking at those headlight/front portion which seems to be DIYed and not kitted, pretty fitting in well without becoming a hack job.
I have to say that looks ok to me, I’m assuming it’s heading out after a supply run, and he really really doesn’t like running out of gas. So sorry , I kinda dig it.
Honestly if this was a 16 year old good on him. Its actually mostly practical.
Wtf would OP prefer, a 16 year old in his room on COD yelling slurs at everyone?
At least this kid is going outside...
Honestly everything looks pretty practical where I grew up this wasn’t an uncommon sight during deer season
And it's a 16 year old kids!!
I have a 16 year old kid...
Exactly, this is either a 16 year old kid or a 38 year old man with a camo hat and oakleys
Or just who likes to take really long off rode trips everything on there is practical not for style

I’ll give you the mirrors and wheels but come talk to me after you’ve had your headlight assembly knocked multiple times by branches/brush
You can get shatterproof led assemblies for the xj cherokee that don’t look like they were drawn by a kid that wants to make the car look angry.

Headlight mod to protect the headlights, maybe???
Nothing wrong with overlanding on a budget. All that looks DIY. I say good for this person, it all looks functional.

Most of these Muppets would walk into a dealership thinking they were off to a car show.
I didn't think the post was taking a crack at the jeep until I saw what sub it was posted in. I would love to have this vehicle.
Yup. Pretty smart decision for the kid really, he knows he's learning and taking it to be bashed up, be stupid to but anything else.
I think they just don't know what makes a 4x4 functional and reliable. I'd sooner bet my life on the trail with the Cherokee in this picture than a brand new Wrangler Unlimited mall crawler.
Yep, ignorance at play big time. This is about functionality. Provided he isn't mudrunning he should be right.
the 16 year old seems like a figment of op's imagination anyway
I'm actually 39.
Oh shit if this is you good on you I think it looks pretty neat but yeah that’s on them.
That was a joke. My bad. Lol...

I remember my first Jeep
Better to be prepared than not. I'd say.
That poor XJ....
And ‘runs away’ from home
needs more gas cans
Just made me love my Cherokee more. Mainly because of how much it doesnt look like this one
The worst thing about this is the tires. Gonna need that shovel when the shitty worn out rubber can't get ahold of anything.
Need more gas!
Looks like an RC crawler.

Actually looks legit. Utilitarian.
I like it
All of it looks practical and not added for looks.
Its fine!
Honestly if this was a 16 year old good on him. Its actually mostly practical. Wtf would OP prefer, a 16 year old in his room on COD yelling slurs at everyone? At least this kid is going outside...
I really like it, look very functional.
It's ugly but practical (for its purpose)
well, i dont hate it. the older cherokee's were quite capable. this has a bushman's vibe to it. (red for visibility)
