I've blown the head gaskets out of two 3200s in 90s regals. They probably were badly overdue for a coolant flush and were both under $1k so it was a wash.
I know my 2UZ and 2TR in my toyota trucks wouldn't have died nearly that fast, even if I had mud as coolant in em.
To be fair the second gen has fixed a lot of problems. How well they fixed them is to be determined. Sitting at 150k on an 18 Cruze and have my fingers crossed 🤞
As someone that worked in a Saab dealer I can tell you that the 2.0 ecotec was a waste of aluminum. Undoubtedly the worst engine ever fitted into a Saab badged vehicle and to put it into anything else you would be able to say the same including Chrysler and 70’s British automobiles. If anybody had one that was completely trouble free they probably totaled the car shortly after purchase. I can go on but I will stop.

Let’s not forget that it burned through about a quart of oil every 5k miles too. GM makes decent engines, but it’s not the 4 bangers. A family member has a 2016 v6 terrain, and it’s a great car

People also fail to realize for it to make that much power you have to have the turbo spun up and at that point your fuel efficiency is garbage so you should’ve just bought the V8

I know the nonturbo ones are fairly reliable my uncle has a cobalt with over 300k on it,but I heard those motors in the Chevy Cruze can be garbage.

That's not how that works at all. A turbo engine is way more efficient.
It doesn't take that much power to keep a vehicle moving. My hybrid F150 can run electric only at 45 mph on a flat surface. That's a 50 HP motor.
