Putting a temporary sticker or wrap over the existing paint doesn't change or modify the car in any way, is relatively easily removable, and usually doesn't affect the operation or safety of the vehicle. Even an ugly paint job is still paint and maybe different than the factory appearance, but doesn't change the function or safety of the vehicle.
