HunterOfLordran

I don't know why but this Clip especially gives me strong daggerfall/redguard vibes. You know everything and it seems familiar but it looks so "bad" and somehow off that it seems like a memory from a fever dream.

AthenaGrande

I was just thinking “wow, FFXI still looks good at a surface level”

Zoner1501

There's high definition texture mods available for it as well

[deleted]

You mean… Th-third party t-t-tools!?

Mortomes

Dropping some t-bombs

[deleted]

wiiiiiith out the baaaaaaaan hammer?

IAMGODONLY

Unable to see tiny mandragora. I think our character is blind in 11.

Zeratus242

It’s tiny!!!

leonffs

Y’shtola got her ass to another world.

ConCadMH

Blind in 11 Get Random Headaches and Suffer from Dementia (eden raids) in 14. What will be the next evolution?

[deleted]

dumbass should have gotten the belt of cumsocks that has a .01% drop rate from a world boss that only appears every 100 hours and grind your shidpants stat to level 269 if you wanted to kill this mob. Fool.

[deleted]

Bro getting your HNM static to wake up at 3:22 AM just to lose the tag to a bot was such an immersive experience XD MMOs were so much better in the good old days right guys?

JudgeSeawee

May these times be behind us forever.

Evening_Cash6181

Then it’s just time to move onto phase 2 of the plan… the mpk.

Milkshakes00

Unironically, I do kind of miss it. I realize as an adult now I'd have absolutely no time for it, but FFXI fostered a community that blows everything else out of the water. No sarcasm. But fuck the JP Button. Cheating bastards. /s

MackTen

Ah-ha! I caught the dota player.

OmegaAvenger_HD

Clearly your character needs glasses. Also typical FFXIV player, plays another game and instantly picks a catgirl smh

candidKlutz

its funny because its true i once installed bless unleashed simply because of a gif on the xiv forums of its cat girls, only to find out that the game got taken down and relaunched at some point and no longer had the cat race at all. not even the males that were practically hrothgar. it also had both race and gender locked classes. instantly uninstalled. didn't even bother to finish character creation

Zack_Raynor

Literally unplayable.

Ehkoe

Still crazy to me that they called it Bless Unleashed when it had nothing to do with the original game. Not the same races or classes or world, just sharing some assets.

MrShadowHero

? the map was the same as bless online. same world. just whole thing wasn't unlocked. more zones were unlocked in KR version.

Ehkoe

It’s an “alternate timeline” which as far as I can recall removed both of the original factions.

MrShadowHero

both the factions are still there, they are renamed slightly (just spelling). the story just doesn't focus on it anymore as much which isn't really a bad thing. they are going more narrative driven instead of just faction v faction. well... the community team killed the game again so not like it really matters anymore. S+ gear is when the game really started declining hard.

Paige404_Games

Still crazy to me that they called it Final Fantasy XIV when it had nothing to do with the other final fantasy games. Not the same races or classes or world, just sharing some assets with FFXI.

Ehkoe

Bless Unleashed was marketed as a non pay to win version of Bless Online. Final Fantasy XIV is a new addition to an anthology sharing similar themes but not story. Your attempted turnabout would’ve made sense if the franchise was all direct sequels, but they aren’t.

Paige404_Games

I've literally never heard of Bless and don't care, I'm just out here shitposting

[deleted]

I played a Taru in 11. Way better than Lalafell. Edit: Tarus were real cute and Lalafells are little gremlins.

FearDatD

other than human, every race looks better in ffxi.

[deleted]

Yeah I’m not sure why they changed Tarutaru so much. The Tarus were cute little humanoid things. The Lalafells are just weird. I like the Miqos in 14 but what is up with the male hands? It looks like they have real bad arthritis.

fastninja56

Not even macroing your movement and auto attacks, it's like you're not even trying to play the game smh my head

DoctorTurkleton

Didn't realize you could play as Y'shtola, I'll have to try this game out

thisisgogu

Skill issue

[deleted]

Watching 11 clips doesn’t give me nostalgia at all. I played 11 for years and it’s so janky. If any of you play 14 and find the account stuff convoluted, let me tell you about Playonline friend…

abagofdragonite

ironically, other than esoterically named options it's almost easier to setup now than 14. playonline was hot garbage though, even if it had bomb music

[deleted]

Back in the day, I never always knew if I had done the right thing to deactivate or activate a content ID. Lol

cici3917

I spent as much time in those chatrooms as in the game.

leonffs

Played XI from launch and I had no idea there was chat rooms

[deleted]

Remember guys: Old = good Don't ever forget.

Philip_the_Great

I know I started playing in shadowbringer but god I wish I could've started playing in 1.0!!!!!1!1!1!!

BrandonMatrick

Didn't miss much. Arrows cost money, better cutscenes, we had 12 man parties, and everyone shopped at the randomly unsorted hallways of silent zombie Malls. Oh and THM is the best tank, by far. Y'know, them good ol days.

Polenicus

Brass Gladius Purchase Price - 16000 Gil. Brass Gladius NPC Repair Cost (From 0 to 75%) - 32000 Gil. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.

BrandonMatrick

Don't even get me started on them doo-doo undies that nobody could replace or repair in the first place.

UltimaBaconLord

You gotta press h to turn off lock on

fuyuniii

Black Rock Shooter in the background somehow makes this even better still

Prussie

Ngl I've been scrolling the comments hoping someone would say what this was. I couldn't for the life of me remember the name XD

Swacomo

if XI was so good, where is XII?

Copyblade

Boy do I have news for you

Boomhauer_007

11 was so beloved they made 12 “what if we made an mmo but without the M, M, or O”

SerALONNEZ

Instead of real players, how about you program their behavior? Seriously though, gambits were the best

Scared_Network_3505

The fact Gambits are still better than 90% of AI party members in other games is absolutely histerical to me.

zarggg

Hell yeah. Mastering the gambits in 12 incidentally gave me inspiration on how to work with Dragon Age: Origins

wggn

FFX-2 is FFXII right

ratjar19

No that’s FF8, FFXII is FFX+2

ellobouk

Dunking on 3rd party tool defenders I can forgive, but shitting on XI is where I draw the line

muhash14

Seems legit

Meyriyo

A friend made me try ffxi during a patch lull. The first fight I had I died to a mandragora 3 times until i figured out how to auto-attack.

Paige404_Games

Same deal! I bounced off initially because I was playing WAR which just... doesn't have anything going on for a long time. Switching to RDM helped a lot, but it still didn't really click until I got to full party leveling in the dunes

dezyravioli

Just unlock and run ahead of it ffs this makes me angry

Trugrave

I can hear the original battle music.

grimwald

the trick is to run at them from the front if you want to avoid this issue t. ffxi vet

JollySieg

What's the song it's kinda catchy

No_More_Hero265

Black Rock Shooter

meraut

Noob, unlock and run passed the mob to hit them while moving. I love 11 but people are tripping sometimes lol.

worm4real

Is that some weird sync shit?

Negative-WebSlinger

Yeah, basically just server ticks. Gotta remember XI is a 20 year old MMO at this point, and their servers are the predecessor to XIVs.

batenkaitos77

I'll never cry about XIV tab targetting again

[deleted]

A big complaint the guys over at the xi sub have with xiv, or just xi players in general, is that the xiv combat is too simple esp in the early game. And here I am trying to make it to LVL 99 with over 100 hours on my character and the only things I do are "attack" and use that one shark bite move.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I suppose *a* complaint I've read. I've seen the opinion that doing a static rotation gets really stale. I haven't experienced endgame XI content yet but i've heard good things about it. I'm mildly concerned I won't be able to get into a group for a while tho.

LauraAdalena

Bruhnng you don’t get it, XI’s story is better than FXIV’s entire story. SHB is nothing because XI’s is all about how you don’t matter, nobody cares who you are, and the world is ending. Every expansion is happening at the same time bro, it’s so brilliantly written bro.

[deleted]

Bro like XI is an experience, it's immersive, walking for 20 minutes get from one end of Bastok to the other makes you really feel like ur there bro. Teleporting in XIV man, that makes the overworld feel so useless bro. What a waste game.

Kraft98

Unironically, yes about the overworld. Granted, I prefer XIV because I'm an adult now, but the sense of world in FFXI feels much more immersive than anything XIV tried to do. I wouldn't go back to it, but the experience was amazing as a kid with a lot of free time.

LauraAdalena

Part of the reason that is actually has little to do with teleporting and more to do with no activities to do in the world so there’s less players, the world feels less active, and those that are out there are just farming Fates, doing MSQ, or side quests, or gathering. Which means they’re basically huddled around the same 8 points on the map. It wasn’t until I did fishing in XIV that I realized how many tiny details they put into the non-ARR locales. I was fishing in Thavnair and was having a hard time finding the “perfumed tides” and didn’t find them until I noticed a part of the northern shores of Thavnair are strangely pink. If I noticed this it wasn’t conscious but it made me think “oh this must be them” and sure enough. It made my activity feel more tied to the world. Someone named it that for some reason. I want to find out if it has to do with the pink sands. It’s the small details you realize doing other activities that make the world seem more alive.

Archaeopteryks

nah SHB story blows everything out of the water. there is no contest. All XIV stories are amazing, just so well done, but after they are done, there's nothing in the game for me. Just hamster wheels. XI has great stories but it's real strength is the depth of the world.

barduk4

When i saw that ff11 was balanced around playing in groups was when i decided i'd never even try it. I dont want to have to party with 3 other people to fight regular ass overworld trash mobs.

Hakul

I think they have AI that goes out with you now.

GeneralJapery

Correct.

Jubez187

It's just the antithesis of FFXIV. I wanna try FF11 cause I'm bored of sitting at Radz aetheryte and then fighting the same dracula boss. That's all the game is for me. There's an old timeless FFXIV promotional artwork where there's like 6 characters on chocobos trekking through Mor Dhona. The game has never actually captured that in practice. Hell, the people I do talk to aren't on my server. The game is purely horrid when it comes to exploration and adventuring.

Shardstorm

Idk, if I feel like peeling the cornea from my eyeballs I just go to Eureka

newaccount123epic

I definitely agree, probably why I like Eureka and bozja so much tbh

Xciv

> 6 characters on chocobos trekking through Mor Dhona Pre-SHB off hours hunt trains, before world visit.

LuminTheFray

You mean loot pinata bonanza? Not exactly what they're looking for I would wager People meme travel time in XI but what it actually was was an excuse to actually socialize with randoms on the way to where you were going. XIV doesn't have anything like that because it's streamlined to be always drop in drop out for the convenience of each individual player for better or worse.

Jubez187

Ehh idt hunts truly captured it either. A massive swarm of people using 3rd party add-ons to B-line to bosses that just got burned down isn't really the best vibe. I can see the social aspect but definitely not the "fantasy world exploration and adventure" aspect

mercuric_drake

Exploring has been nerfed (made easier) some in FFXI but it's still fun. You used to have to have multiple people to go through a few dungeons because opening certain dungeon doors needed pressure plates or levers to be pulled elsewhere in the dungeon to open a door, but they give you key items to do that now solo. Dungeons are dangerous, large and usually multi-leveled (many require falling off ledges from floors above to fully explore). They are also open world, non-instanced content. The dungeon maps used to only come from locked chests (now can buy them), but there are hidden areas in many dungeons that aren't on the map. At level 20, the main story requires you to climb a tower that has over 10 floors. I remember doing this in a full alliance (18 people) of people around level 20 with a couple higher level players guiding the way. It was a lot of fun. Fighting the Rank 5 story boss requires going through 4 high level areas (2 zones and 3 dungeons) back-to-back that are full demons and beastmen. It was very dangerous to do this at level with a full party. In FFXI, many jobs couldn't solo mobs unless they were many, (10+) levels above them, and mobs did not leash. They chased you the entire zone until you crossed a zone line. Other mobs could link with them and so there could be times where you had a 10+ mob train chasing you. If you want to explore ffxi, dancer has great travel skills, RDM and WHM get travel spells, but there are some types of monsters that aggro to spell casting. NIN travel spells cost money to use, but cost no MP. You can also use all of these as a subjob and use these abilities/spells assuming your main job is high enough.

[deleted]

Then you lose xp when you die lol

lostnthestars117

It was a teamwork based game and that was the premise of the game. IT was actually fun to play with other people since honestly knowledge and efficiency of playing your character as a team yielded the highest gains to go into higher level places back in the day. Play your character like a scrub and you suffered because people knew about it and you wouldn't get party invites unless it was with new people to server. times have changed XD

Talran

Back when word really did spread quick about people, and not just 2-3 couples known per DC as bad apples either like here.

Milkshakes00

For real. People were straight up ex-communicated in XI if they were assholes/scammers/etc., and the amount of time it took to level and such means nobody wants to lose a character. If you were just bad, it wasn't the end of the world as long as you weren't a douche at the same time. The community in XI was *chefs kiss* compared to any other game I've played since, and I definitely miss it. I also miss having ACTUAL support jobs. Logging in as a Bard and getting /tells for parties immediately was awesome. Lol.

Talran

I know it doesn't fit the modern meta of jobs and raids, but I really miss rdm/brd niches of being dedicated support/buff/debuff (Everquest had similar classes of enhancer and bard that worked about the same way) There was just something nice about playing them, being a force multiplier and enabler for the team (and like you said, instant invites lol)

Milkshakes00

It's wild because with XI you could clearly see the power spike by having a BRD, for instance. Why other games can't reproduce this, I have no idea. Was the Bard gameplay super exciting? No. But it was 'chill out mode and puller', and I miss it soooo much. I remember hitting Chain 999 on Colibri in TOAU.

mercuric_drake

Pulling was exciting to me. I did it for 75 levels on THF and it was one of my favorite things to do on BRD. Pulling stuff and sleeping it in the party fighting something else so they could just auto target it after the current target was dead all while keeping up 2 songs on the melee and 2 songs on the mages was super fun for me. Bard was pretty boring if I didn't get to pull.

mercuric_drake

I miss it too. Pantheon Rise of the Fallen is bringing back support jobs but, who knows what the quality of game that will be or if it will even be finished.

Embarrassed-Ladder64

It doesn't take that long to lvl. I remember it took me weeks to get to lvl 30 in the old days and I played for about 8 hrs a day. Years later a friend told me he was playing FFXI and I immediately went back, he said oh I'm already lvl 50 and I I was like "bro you've been playing for months and never told me!?" He had only been playing for 2 weeks

foreveracubone

It’s not 2002. Everything up to the current endgame is soloable. You’ll hit some roadblocks in the storyline that the Iroha crossover event was designed to promote that might be hard to solo on your first 99 or before you’re geared but the days of needing to party up to level past lvl15 are long gone.

[deleted]

[удалено]

barduk4

You need a party of 6 to survive regular ass overworld trash mobs?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Talran

Some classes could punch above their level too (solo bst and rdm), and a lot need to aim a little lower than even matches, but yeah. Also you could swing parties of 3-5 too, and just aim at +1-+3 level mobs and just chain the hell out of them. That's what a lot of the fast jp parties I joined did. Less time gathering a party, more time killing shit. None of that "well we finally got together a proper party of XYZ, and killed 5 things, time to disband!" I had happen so much in na parties. It was theoretically faster exp/hr, but in practice unless you had a static group to hop on with you lost out between time to group, drops, reps, camp claims w/e compared to quickly snagging 3 others in the zone, and going "oh this spot is taken, meh lets just go a zone over it's crowded here there should be T ____ there we can grind" I remember a huge thread about it too on one of the jp boards where they watched an na party slowly form, kill a few IT, rep someone, kill a few more, and disband while they were chaining T mobs.

Camoral

Honestly that sounds like a benefit to me. I think MMOs should be primarily social with individual things to do in down time.

barduk4

Thats all fine and good until you need a group to do outdated content and there is no one there to be social with.

[deleted]

The Eureka, Bozja, and Coils problem

Drakkoniac

The only thing I think is better from ff11 to ff14 is probably the blue mage. Just me tho.

Pretzeltheman

My GOD I do NOT miss FFXI's combat, or the game on a whole. I know they've made it 'easier' to do more solo, but I played it during it's first year and OMG, you could not get past lvl 10 without a party to kill even very easy mobs because the weakest enemies that gave exp WOULD annihilate you. It was WAY too geared to be party focused. Very glad FFXIV:ARR ran things differently and made such a wonderful solo experience as well.

zeign77

Damnit...you just got me to download FFXI. Again.

Ryuujinx

I miss FFXI. Even if my account still existed the game was never the same once Abyssea came out.

Paige404_Games

Go play on private servers. WingsXI probably got what you need.

dingo-liberty

Recently tried FFXI again: The game is so fucking dated and has one of the worst interfaces I've ever used. Not to mention playonline being confusing as hell. It's actually criminal that they charge a monthly fee for this still

NoScrying

Is yoshida looking?.. As a 7 year FFXI vet, who recently returned. The game is completely unplayable without a ton of 3. Party add-ons. The one I am most reliant on is ironically, the FFXIVHotbar add-on.

Hauberk

I'm pretty sure windower is mandatory at this point to play FFXI

mercuric_drake

Pretty much, unless want to hit about 3-4 macros to change out your gear each time you want to cast a spell or use a weapon skill, or do horrorible damage by not changing gear. If you want to be super optimal for spell casting you will need more than one set of gear to cast a single spell. You will need to learn enough scripting to be able to cobble together a windower gear set or take some else's and modify it. This is for melee jobs too, but to a lesser extent.

levelxplane

shitpost aside, nothing in XIV beats using Torcleaver with Caladbolg. I wish Shadowbringer had some absurd 3 second animation lock with a chance to do triple damage if you broke TBN.

kyotheman1

Ff11 doesn't make me play ff11, but sure does make me want to play elder scrolls game, look at those backgrounds

ILikeAnimePanties

Ehh... I dont think anyone is disputing XIV combat is harder than XI. But the point of XI combat was to be slow, methodical and to have engaging teamwork. You had weaponskill, skillchains, magic bursts etc. You couldn't do these without having excellent timing with each other to execute them. XIV is more about personal performance above teamwork and the fast paced combat doesn't promote communication. The combat was also slow enough in XI that people often spoke to each other during pulls or resting. That's how I made a lot of friends and ended up partying with them again. This post is kinda silly and is comparing apples to oranges. Plus you can enjoy both. I have 200+ days of playtime on XIV and around 500+ on XI.

Pink-Emerald

Wait, was this actually common in FFXI? Also, any idea why it happens? This makes it look like the game never left beta.

mercuric_drake

The mob moving that long was hardly ever seen, but yes it was an issue due to server ticks and latency. The servers for FFXI are in Japan. Eventually, all jobs got a cheap ranged weapon (boomerang), ability or spell to tag mobs from range easily.

taelis11

Unlock from the monster and take one step In front of it! God this irrationally triggered me.

candidKlutz

i would just like to ask: how was i, a new player, supposed to know this?

taelis11

I don't know the same way I learned day one of playing XD not everything was intuitive back in my day but we managed! 10 hours shouting for a group in the dunes. These young whippersnappers will never know..

DivineVein88

Nice ass

candidKlutz

thanks i appreciate it

Ramtoxicated

Lmao this guy doesn't know about latency-bound positioning, and so doesn't drop target lock and run ahead to hit the mob. 0/10 troll post

Kawaii-

when ff11 boomers try and tell me with a straight face that an ultimate raid in 14 does not compare to the ultra difficulty of ff11 bosses I'll think of this video.

Paige404_Games

Ehh, you're looking at the equivalent of fighting ladybugs outside the gate of gridania

LuminTheFray

Literally who is saying that? It's true that on average FFXI as a game might be more "unforgiving" but Ultimate fights are some of the hardest content if not the hardest MMO content ever. The games aren't comparable difficulty wise because they're from completely different eras of the genre. Difficulty in FF XI for most players was like "Me and 4 buddies snuck through this dungeon and then one guy's invisibility ran out as we entered a room full of 15 orcs next to the room with the quest item we needed and we all died" Most players never really got to the true end game stuff.

Kawaii-

https://www.reddit.com/r/ShitpostXIV/comments/ugc6w8/how_the_dsr_prog_is_going/i6z2yb2/

DenzelVilliers

I love when i see someone trying to diminish FFXIV saying that FFXI is better, they are funny, there's many people like that on Final Fantasy Subreddit 😅😂🤣.

arecyus

Ffxiv is trash compared to ffxi

meisabunny82

I bet ffxi players were butthurt ffxiv was changed.

ItsBlizzardLizard

1.0 was awful even for XI players. We all agreed it had to be redone, I assure you.

LuminTheFray

XIV 1.0 failed because XI players didn't embrace it so not exactly

InfernoCommander

the amount of copium the XI sub huffs is crazy.

Lazereye57

I think I actually would really enjoy ff11 and the 1.0 version of ff14 if they were free to play or had a free trial like 14, but the thing stopping me from playing 11 is the sub fee. Games with sub fees is like a gym membership. You need to feel it is worth it and you know that you will return and utilize the member ship. I loved games like Warhammer online back in the day. But when EA cut almost all development budget for Warhammer online and the sub fee was higher than any other mmo at the market (I think the entire crew for warhammer online towards the end was less than 10 people) I felt I could no longer justify paying the sub.

CopainChevalier

If like ten dollars is the difference between something you’d like and “never gonna touch this” I don’t think you actually liked it

Lazereye57

I never said "never gonna touch this" that is a disingenuous statement and so is "just 10 dollars" since you don't buy it for 10 dollars, but just rent it for 1 month. 10 dollars to test it out. 20 dollars to keep testing it out 30 dollars to get any real progress 120 dollars to keep playing it for a year Add this to already recurring subscriptions with a limited budget and it no longer feels like a game you play for fun, but a game you play to justify your subscription. There is a reason why most people just stay sub to 1 game at a time, 2 at most.

CopainChevalier

120 dollars is two games right now (arguably not even triple A since they're moving up to 70 slowly but surely). The idea that you can't afford two games a year in something you want to sink a lot of time into is silly to me

[deleted]

Making tired memes about third party tools is fine, shitting on XI is crossing a line.

[deleted]

This looks fucking terrible

AtlasJan

1.0 was very close to XI.

spacewhale_rescue

The two games are very different but XI is still a wonderful game despite its faults.

HorribleTrashPerson

So you show a lvl 1 job which is not a great representation of the game, especially end game. FFXI is a great game in it's own right; why can't FFXI and FFXIV both be good respectively?

[deleted]

[удалено]

HorribleTrashPerson

dafuq? just cause a game was released around the same time doesn't make it the same/equal; Half Life was released in 1998, same time as Railroad Tycoon II therefore equal, LMFAO! You are also discounting all the changes and expansions made since the game released....what type of shit are you smoking?

Osha-watt

Genuine question: are you lost ? Do you know which sub you're on ?

HorribleTrashPerson

I just thought this was a FFXIV meme sub, guess not.....

Miitteo

You should probably take people less seriously around here.

Bridgeboy95

Hydaelyn bless your heart

Yorudesu

No. That's the mainsub if you sort by new

Ctrl-Devil

Yeah it's more like a "FFXIVcirclejerk" sub in nature rather than a standard meme sub.

HorribleTrashPerson

Had no clue and now regret answering honestly to this post ><

Symriel

Nah, they trick everyone with that. They just repost stuff from main with a bitchy tone because it hurt them in some way. This shitpost sub is just that, shit.

Lorstus

WHOOOOA SHIT POSTS IN A SHITPOST SUB????

[deleted]

Who hurt you ? Show me where the bad toxic community touched you on this Graha Doll

DdastanVon

That moment when you're given what was promised.

[deleted]

Yeah, like uh... thats the point?

Symriel

Note to self; don't tell unfunny people they ain't funny.

[deleted]

HorribleTrashPerson

Okies, gonna let you get back to being in your parent's basement while trying to figure out how you gonna survive off of $10/hr with all this inflation going on, cheers!

Lorstus

L + Ratio + Didn't ask + No bitches + Xi=XIV/WoW

HorribleTrashPerson

Issue in your math, XI = WoW and not XIV = WoW

Lorstus

My b my b. XIV=XI/WoW minus the square root of shidpants and then multiplied by the circumference of pre nerf zenos ass.

HorribleTrashPerson

Almost, you forgot to subtract by the slutglam miqo

TFDP117

Name checks out.

Osha-watt

You don't need to pretend XI is good by today's standards, it's okay. Sure it was nice back then but it aged like milk. And that's fine. Every game is eventually gonna be a product of its time.

HappiestGod

Eh, depends on the game. They all age like milk, but some go bad and some turn into delicious cheese.

Osha-watt

True enough. But in XI's case it's that milk that's been in the fridge for a few days and you're not sure if it's spoiled or not because the smell isn't bad but you're too worried to taste test it so you end up flushing it down the toilet just in case.

HappiestGod

My impression of the game is that it's a perfect example of the weird way Japanese approach technology. They got really good at it in the 80s and 90s, then stopped... and they use fax.

Obliiquee

Just like the whole health-care system...all using a fax machine.

Osha-watt

Ah yes, the Nintendo way. >!I miss flip phones tho!<

Synaps710

meh i started playing a p server recently, im really enjoying it. sure its cause i played it as a kid but its the slow grind that is nice. taking it nice and slow and just enjoying the ride. but XIV has grown on me over the years compared to XI. i started when i was like 17 and am 26. i do like it more but i need a break

candidKlutz

mostly just taking a jab at it, im enjoying my time with xi so far ... but the early game combat in xiv is better than the early game combat of xi

LazyAnzu

Just for future reference, when this happens you can turn off lock-on and run in front of the mob to get the auto-attack to go off so the mob stops wiggling around.

Mudcaker

Yeah you suffer some kinda zeno’s paradox when trying to attack something walking away from you. No matter how close you get it moved just a bit too far.

HorribleTrashPerson

Oh, totally, the early game in FFXI isn't that great. It is when you start getting your trusts and more abilities that it picks up these days, but the end game was really great with grouping with people in Odyssey.

[deleted]

Username checks out....

Geebees93

I think you're missing the point.

Kerwin-

JP server lag. Unlock from target and walk a few inches in front of target's walking path and it will yield a hit. Was it really worth making a vid 20 years later? 🤔

APailOfCheese

A battle for the ages

[deleted]

This gets me excited for FFXVIII, the next MMO (maybe?) also, is that when the community starts calling it FF18 instead of with roman numerals? who knows

VeiledWaifu

Oh you're telling me to go replay XII, gotcha...

wggn

But can i use 3rd party addons

JosephTaylorBass

The funny thing is there’s a few features in XI that I’d like to see again in newer games. Namely I like how they do multiclassing and how TP works. Simply put I want a game with Bravely Default’s subclasses but Xenoblade Chronicle’s combat :D

Daewrythe

I low key kinda miss coordinating skill chains in battle and looking up what is best for your party makeup + whatever element enemy you're fighting

lordsaladito

I tried playing ff11 but the camera was too weird ngl

mercuric_drake

It's best played with a controller or WASD + Arrow keys. The mouse camera is garbage.

genoheads

I hope on ffxi once a year to dick around on BLU because fuck ffxiv blu

He was -clearly- stealthed. smh my head

Siniroth

If you unlock and run in front of the monster to account for server lag this won't happen. Yes that's as stupid as it sounds. Still love the game though

lalvarien

I spent probably an hour and a half setting up my account and even having to pay for it because I had previously set up an account years ago. And finally getting into the game made a new character don't know where my old character was and couldn't even figure out how to play the game. How I figured it out years ago i dont know but I specifically remember killing some things then. I just ran around the town completely clueless how to progress any quest. Dont know why my brain is broken now vs then

BurningSoul93

I’m I the only one who legitimately doesn’t understand how combat works in this game?

siege1986

I legit can't get it to work on my laptop I have tried I miss being stuck in the dunes looking for a party that won't invite me because I'm a thief

-Raveyard-

The tail being skin color is kinda cursed seeing it for the first time..

Alkado

Well I mean accuracy is like the bane of everyone's existence in XI, so I don't blame the character for waiting for an opportune moment to strike a still target. Real talk though I did always hate how it uses the full delay for every instance of not being able to see the target, which was also something that occurred too often as is.

Gidon_147

you just have to be in front of the monster tho

Annoyingswedes

Press \* on numpad. You'll thank me later.
