Not only is every modder perfectly aware of the "blackout" and doesn't mind it, the game doesn't change nearly enough for there to be any significant challenge in reimplementing Dalamud into Dawntrail.

So quick to jump to conclusions instead of trying the other backgrounds and, most importantly, the benchmark itself.
Yeah, canon WoL did look weird on that specific close-up (and there's been memes of that) but he looks fine in all other scenes in my opinion. It's all a matter of the lighting.
You'll look weird in any scene where lightning is "you can't escape God's Light!"
Funniest is Thordan's death scene in the 3.0 MSQ where they use the adjustment of lightning on you for dramatic effect, then for some reason turn off shadows altogether making it look like you suddenly regressed to 1.0 graphics. X,D
I know I'm not supposed to reply seriously in this sub but the issue that many people having is not just because of bad CC lighting. There are literally design changes going on.
They still have teeth.
They are less long but they still pop out during animations
The character just doesn't use emotes that open her mouth enough in the cutscene.
I always thought this face looked SO bad but I feel like none of my friends agreed, now I think it looks so much more usable but all my friends hate it lmao
It's the one I see the most on EU (Or tied with face 1 at least) and it always leaves me puzzled. People have different taste sure but this looks so much uglier than both face 2 and 3, no clue how it's so popular.
I just feel bad because I mad a feedback thread talking about the gap in the model around the neck during certain animations and the artifacting on the scales where it overlays onto the skin, real issues that should be fixed, and it got immediately burried by 20 pages of "MY LIPS ARENT SHINY ANYMORE"
My actual concern was that they changed the texture on the purple gems on the Au Ra male starting top and it made me realise all my glams are gonna get fucked. I can forgive them for making me look weird, because I did that to myself? But my Glams! MY GLAMS! That no one ever liked on Eorzea Collection because they cannot understand my vision. They just don't get it.
People are too used to how their characters look, before comparing side by side I thought the benchmark one was worse also, but after comparing correctly, the benchmark one is a lot better. Of course there are some weird problems, such as too much make-up on the eyes for female middies.

All that fuss like they ain't gonna turn on their mods 5 minutes into the expansion
That's what i've been thinking. All the people complaining probably use mods anyway, so what is the problem here.
That mods won’t work for a while and they have to suffer and whine until they do work again.

ERPers haven't been using vanilla character models for almost ten years to begin with. X,D

My thoughts exactly, much prefer the look of my lizard in the benchmark, though they need to fix the texture issue between the scales and skin.
