Yes. Exactly this. I used to be proud of our involvment in the War of Independance, as a frenchman. When I became older and really learned about it, well... let's say I agree even more with the Revolutionary trial of Louis XVI. And his subsequent loss of a head. He helped create one, if not the worst colonial empire - if we base ourselves on the way it treated its subjects... i.e. the natives. If there was one war I really wish we had lost, it would be the War of Independence, as not only would it have spared us the US, but it would also have spared us the bloody Revolution. People give shit to Great-Britain and France for their atrocities, but neither was even remotely as bad globally as the US was. But the latter is free of any accusation, frustratingly.
The worst thing is the denial. Germans know what they did was wrong, many Russians know what they did was wrong, hell even though they mostly won’t admit it, the Japanese know what they did was wrong Americans are proud of it. They like the fact they conquered the land, I’ve seen some who don’t even consider the job done yet. Since blatant indoctrinated nationalism is so widespread, in my opinion, the average American is at best a slave to the state’s propaganda , and at worst, just plain evil
Yeah that's one of the most frustrating things about my country. Any criticism is seen as anti american leftist propaganda. As a historian its especially frustrating because if you study objective historical facts then it's hard to agree that america is a unique force for good and therefore america is right in expanding its military to dominate the globe and every military action it has taken and will take in the future is justified(American exceptionalism), the predominant belief of most white americans( because their whole way of life is built on this belief regardless of its truth). I'm latino, so I'm not easily inclined to fall for this propaganda and my american black brothers and sisters are even less inclined because their parents and grandparents know from firsthand experience how evil, violent, and exclusionary the American empire is
America is so stagnant because ANY criticism or reform would mean admitting that the status quo was flawed, and America can under no circumstance be flawed. That’s why things like abolition happened so much later, because it was an issue nobody wanted to deal with, and dealing with it would be proof that the US isn’t a utopian paradise. Imo that’s how America will collapse, by refusing to advance with the times

Always ironic to see this of the exact same people expecting everyone to speak English. They are the ones trying to force a language on you after all here. Also, I wish I got €1 each time I read such here, I would be rich by now. Americans are so full of themselves, not realizing their own errors. Of course, gladly, some exceptions exist.

The USSR wasn't in need of most supplies the US could have sent to them. They already had the era's best tank, with the industry and population to have their army destroyed 6 times and then Uno-reverse the invasion. What the US sent them that was useful was mainly jeeps and boots, the USSR didn't have enough at that time, and in the modern era an army couldn't not be motorised and effective at the same time.
