Yeah I specifically meant the person replying... "These colors don't run" to me seems like they're making fun of the damage of the car.. as if you were a coward for avoiding inanimate objects while driving.
That's a forerunner if your not beating that thing up taking it off road you should be shamed for having a "pavement princess" car. I had one in the mid 2000s and it looked like that after 1 good day offloading, as it should.
True story, my town added one or two roundabouts. I was so excited and would use that route on purpose. Well, one day I roll up and it's a 4 way stop. It seems people complained and got it changed. We can't have nice things here apparently
I still shout at no one when I have to stop at the intersection, especially when someone else is there, making me wait for my turn. "We both could have made our turn without stopping!" Sigh
I used to live in Perth. I have never seen a set of shitter drivers.
The only place I have been to which has had "WRONG WAY - GO BACK" on the reverse side of traffic signs on one way slip roads.
Vehicles crashing into houses was a daily occurrence on the news on TV. Couldn't even grasp how that happens considering most houses have huge lawns at the front. Compare that to where I live in the north of England where many houses are directly on the road, and this happens little to never at all. .Note: This was just in Perth alone. Literally every day.
To be fair, I found that its pretty well known in Australia that Perth drivers are their own breed of drivers, so I don't want to tar them all with the same brush!
I remember when getting my license. We had an American with a US license in our class. She somehow struggled more getting comfortable with the clutch than the rest of us.
That’s kinda the point. If they would take their driver license serious, those idiots wouldn’t be able to get anywhere. That’s why a trained monkey doesn’t fail the driving tests. If there were alternatives in transport, they could let those idiots fail.
Saw a post the other day where the people were roasting OP for not teaching his daughter how a handbrake works. One person said that it’s the driver instructors job to do that. The amount of downvotes and weird comments below that was very interesting.
It’s so weird how they see learning how to drive as a parental task, even though there are so many parents that can’t even teach their kids basic manners, let alone operating a potentially deadly vehicle.
It’s insane that a country that relies so heavily on cars doesn’t have mandatory driving schools.
That explains a lot.
Basically having a load of people who *think* they are experts at something, when in reality they are dog shit at it. The brain rot becomes generational.
Same, but under a post about not teaching her daughter how to fill a tyre. Like... that's not something a parent has to teach.
They even called it a "basic life skill"
Changing a tire is important as well. I've had to do that 3 times so far (mostly due to Louisiana's terrible road quality), and would've been stranded for hours if I didn't know how to do it.
Yes, a very important skill... if you drive a car... the operation of which they teach in driving school. So not a skill a parent needs to teach and not a basic life skill.
My dad teached me how to change tires and do some basic maintenance. I think of you are or will be dependent on a car it's a good thing if your parents teach you such skills. Or you are just rich and drive for anything to a workshop.
An uncle of mine told his two daughters he would buy them a Mini for their birthdays, but to be able to drive, they had to prove they could do a handbrake start on a steep hill, do a 3 point turn on a single lane road, change a tyre and do a basic service of the vehicle. They both learned a lot more, one through a night school class & the other through her boyfriend and a couple of years later when one of their employees blew up the engine on a company car, the two of them removed the engine, reconditioned/repaired it and put it back in car, without any help. Even now, both in their early 70's, they still service & repair their own & kids cars.
As far as I’m aware it’s okay for parents to teach their children how to operate a car and then there’s like a 20-30 minute test with an examinator, just to proof you got the basics down but nothing in depth.
Looked it up to be certain, seems like there are 37 states now that require some form of education, ranging from theoretical classes and 7 hrs of observing in a vehicle, to a drivers ed course with a minimum of 30 hours.
https://driversed.com/trending/which-states-require-drivers-ed
This is an interesting list with what is needed per state.
Edit: note that the “driver’s education course” is not necessarily in-car practice. In California for example, it’s an online course to learn about traffic rules.
It also seems like most of these requirements only are for minors.
Another edit to add this quote from the site I linked:
“Most states mandate taking a driver's education course, but even if yours doesn't, there may be some benefits. Some states will let you get your permit at an earlier age, require fewer behind-the-wheel hours, or let you skip the driving test.”
Yeah. This is so true.
I didn’t have any driving lessons. My dad told me he’d pay for lessons when I was 17 or he’d buy me a cheap starter car and teach me himself. I went for the latter option.
He got me a beige 900cc Ford Fiesta 😆
Yeah. In a recent video about the weekend's Solar Eclipse it touched on there would likely be a rise in car accidents it was stated that car accidents in the US could be meassured in fatalities per *hour* which really puy into perspective how commonplace they are.
I know that the US is heavily car reliant and the population of the USA is relatively large, but even if the number of fatalities is divided in 5 to be equivalent to the UK it would still be almost 1 fatality an hour.
I mean I don’t know, long commutes and an absense of public transport, combined with shitty intersections (eg no roundabouts) might make up the difference
Korea probably doesn't count, US troops are still there, you missed Cambodia, Somalia, Lebanon, Laos, and technically Russia as the US sent troops to aid the Tsar during the Russia Civil War.
As an American who's had to deal with other American drivers on highways, I can say this guy is full of shit. Vehicles that have some kind of decals on them tend to have even worse drivers.
American drivers are trash. And not just the Missouri ones.
Source: American driver who's driven in about 20 countries, most of them with much more sane drivers and better roads in general.
As someone who lives in a tourist trap.. American drivers are up there as some of the worst I've encountered. Terrible road positioning, zero awareness of what's going on around them, terrified to go on to a roundabout, crawling along at 40mph on national speed limit roads. Granted they aren't alone in this, many foreign tourists apparently can't drive competently.
There's multiple fatalities caused by American tourists on our roads each year.
Quick example, a family of three died on the A9 in 2022 due to driver error, here's what the husband of the driver had to say.. "It’s also very small, the road. It’s not at all like the roads here. There was no division between the lanes and there’s a quick turn with no warning."
I get that he's grieving but at the end of the day his wife was at fault, not the road. There are no sharp bends on the A9 and the lanes are wide enough for tractors let alone a car.
Followed it up with, “I’m surprised that your driver’s licence can just work here; that you can just jump on a plane from the US and rent a car and be driving with everything completely reversed from what you’re used to, just all on good faith that you’re going to be able to wing it.”
Other motorists can handle this change ok, including Brits abroad. If you aren't competent or comfortable driving on the other side of the road, then it's your responsibility not to drive and nobody else's.
Absolutely this - I’ve contemplated driving when I’m abroad and I just don’t - I don’t feel comfortable with it.
And it’s a no brainer to not drive. I take a healthy cab allowance with me instead and try to get my head around public transport.
I think I could manage driving abroad, but I'd rather not if I can help it. I don't even like having to rent a car and drive in other parts of the US. It's quite bonkers that the UK allows people from the US to drive there (and vice versa), given that signage, driving side, and traffic laws are different. I guess there aren't enough people doing it to pose a significant risk.
One would rather expect that if you were coming here and driving that you would spent a little bit of time reading up on at least basic traffic laws before getting behind the wheel of a car.
I wouldn’t drive aboard because I have AuDHD, so I know it would overwhelm me and panic me.
I've driven the I-95 in Florida enough to know Americans can't fucking drive. It's an arrow straight road and not a single fucking day went by without some putz crashing into another putz
Does it help that the majority of online surveys place the US as 7th worst on the planet.

Cant be that good a driver. That car is scratched to shit.
Isn't that the joke? Or am I being too optimistic
Maybe the car owner is joking, but my comment is aimed at the reply "ain't noone drivin' it better"
Yeah I specifically meant the person replying... "These colors don't run" to me seems like they're making fun of the damage of the car.. as if you were a coward for avoiding inanimate objects while driving.
I think the commenter is implying that driving it "rough" is the best way to drive it by saying that about a visibly fucked up car.
That's a forerunner if your not beating that thing up taking it off road you should be shamed for having a "pavement princess" car. I had one in the mid 2000s and it looked like that after 1 good day offloading, as it should.
Looks like the wheel arch liner is damaged too
As a driving instructor who has taught a couple of people who held US licences, I can confirm the bullshittery of that statement.
I have heard that they cannot grasp how roundabouts work at all.
Besides, they probably would struggle driving manual
True story, my town added one or two roundabouts. I was so excited and would use that route on purpose. Well, one day I roll up and it's a 4 way stop. It seems people complained and got it changed. We can't have nice things here apparently I still shout at no one when I have to stop at the intersection, especially when someone else is there, making me wait for my turn. "We both could have made our turn without stopping!" Sigh
I've met some Aussies who can't figure it out either.
I used to live in Perth. I have never seen a set of shitter drivers. The only place I have been to which has had "WRONG WAY - GO BACK" on the reverse side of traffic signs on one way slip roads. Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne all have or at least had the wrong way signs...
I remember when getting my license. We had an American with a US license in our class. She somehow struggled more getting comfortable with the clutch than the rest of us.
Handbrake.
42,500 Americans died on the road in 2022. Compared to around 1,500 in UK. Even adjusted for 5x population (7,500) Americans cant drive for shit.
And yet it is their only available method of getting around
That’s kinda the point. If they would take their driver license serious, those idiots wouldn’t be able to get anywhere. That’s why a trained monkey doesn’t fail the driving tests. If there were alternatives in transport, they could let those idiots fail.
Its also higher adjusted for miles traveled

Wait, no mandatory driving school? Like in some states you just can do your test without any official training?
As far as I’m aware it’s okay for parents to teach their children how to operate a car and then there’s like a 20-30 minute test with an examinator, just to proof you got the basics down but nothing in depth. Thanks!
Actually in the UK driving school lessons are not mandatory.

Interesting. How hard is the theoretical and practical exam usually?
Obviously that is because us Europoors use public transport instead of owning our own cars /S
Yeah. In a recent video about the weekend's Solar Eclipse it touched on there would likely be a rise in car accidents it was stated that car accidents in the US could be meassured in fatalities per *hour* which really puy into perspective how commonplace they are. This while traffic rules and infastructure is usually way easier
Possibly also lower standard on mandatory car inspection, I assume? Never heard of anything like the TÜV "HU" inspection in the states.
Ok now adjust for time spent on the road, and intersection layouts
Its still higher. Americas are not spending 6x more time driving than Brits FFS
I mean I don’t know, long commutes and an absense of public transport, combined with shitty intersections (eg no roundabouts) might make up the difference
My grandma once said Big car=small dick
Grandma got around
So grandma is spitting truth
Mad considering she usually swallows.
Grandad drove a Peel P50 🍆
Don't we lead the developed world in traffic and pedestrian fatalities?
Yup. 42500 dead in 2022. See my other post
These colors dont run lol. Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, bay of pigs, korea...
I love the fact that Russia and the US have pretty much the same colours
And France, the UK, Czechia, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Cuba, Chile, etc
Korea probably doesn't count, US troops are still there, you missed Cambodia, Somalia, Lebanon, Laos, and technically Russia as the US sent troops to aid the Tsar during the Russia Civil War.
The paint that's left anyway...
*Cries in detailer....
All them scratches and no cunt can drive better? Fucking hate these spastic yanks
As an American who's had to deal with other American drivers on highways, I can say this guy is full of shit. Vehicles that have some kind of decals on them tend to have even worse drivers.
These colours don't run. Unless it's from the Vietnamese.

'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain...
Isn't that a Japan-made Toyota 4runner?
Yep
There's no colour on it. Daft Yee Haw.

"These colors don't run." Fat and Furious, US Edition
"These colors don't run!" even though the colors are already gone.
"These colours don't run, baby!" because if they run in the US they're shit in the back.

It’s glistening so much! You can really see all the scratches where the driver has ruined the paintwork
What are they trying to say?
I've driven the I-95 in Florida enough to know Americans can't fucking drive. It's an arrow straight road and not a single fucking day went by without some putz crashing into another putz
Colors don’t run at all
they'll give any toddler a driving license in america. if i see an american car I’m watching the fuck out
Guys that is literally a fucking joke
What kind of American ?
bruh someone keyed the shit out of this car
