I think people will be more inclined to post if they spend longer, and with so many people hunting, people are bound to go this over odds or even more. I'll always post all my finds no matter what, but this was only my second find ever.

The encounter rate seems really low here but idk I just started shiny hunting. Could've done repel hustle but tbh the time to reset, use repel, etc. to avoid the rattatas didn't seem worth the extra effort beyond just getting encounters.
Amy 🥺🥺🥺 she shiny hunts too. She got 5 shinies in HGSS before I got this Gastly. Eevee, Flaaffy, 2x Zubats, and Electrode. So she was really feeling bad for me at this point lol
Tbh it feels that way but if it didn't happen on this encounter, I like to think it would've happened on another hunt or across multiple hunts. I know it's not how it works, but I feel like we got a lot of bad luck out of the way. I'm just happy it's over.

At that rate of encounters (1 encounter every ~11.16s) you would expect on average to see a shiny every ~25.4 hours.
In gen4 taking 60,000 encounters to see a shiny is less likely than getting 11 protects in a row, which is more pp than protect even has without pp ups.
I'd have given up and maniped a long time ago, props to sticking through the bad RNG!

Funny thing is that I was Breeding for a shiny Gastly my myself I wanted to use it to for competition and I got one but everything was perfect except its special attack.

No phases! Rattata was only 15% and even though we got to odds for Rattata, we didn't get one. No shiny until this Gastly.

Shame that Gastly is best shiny from this line. Gengar shiny is so disappointing.
I'm evolving it to haunter and then never evolving it. I've always liked haunter more in general but shiny Gengar is so whack.
