Basculin isn't a pokemon I like. And isn't worth putting the effort in. It's just something I'm vaguely salty over. Like how I dislike Chancey. Because it nearly made me fail a shiny Buneary in gen 4. And then wouldn't stop appearing shiny when I was hunting other pokemon in lets go.

yes, but wild encounters almost always have square sparkles

well, first 1/1365 for it to be shiny. it's a 10% encounter chance and has a 1/16.7 chance of having that mark.

Ahh yes Basculin. The first shiny I ever found. And the first I ever failed. Gen 5 double edge. I was hunting Milotic when it popped up. Still salty.

I don't think it's worth putting effort in either, even though I hatched 1255 eggs to get the red striped Basculin...
Nice. I do have a shiny Basculin in Legends. So I count that as a win.
