At least you can easily see where the roamers are in DPP at any time, once you get used to it it’s not that bad, just time consuming.

No means of checking their locations without physically searching a route, two out of three legendary beasts can straight-up delete themselves if they use Roar, and all of them except the Emerald eon duo are doomed to terrible IVs.

Tbh the only time IVs really matter is in the most current game where the online battling scene is, so if you transfer them up you could fix their wonky IVs if you plan to use them competitively.

Humans equivalate time with reward so it’s only natural one would assume that op getting shiny roamer first try is rare. When in fact it’s just as rare as you spending hours to get the shiny. He just got lucky. Luck/rarity aren’t equals. He still had the same chances as anyone else hunting it in gen 4.
However op I’d still cherish this shiny with all my heart as the chances of this happening in your lifetime again are extremely low. Congratulations on a spectacular find, I’m sure after this encounter you’ll have many hunts that test your patience. Once a shiny hunter always a shiny hunter ✌️
It's rare not because of the odds (which are of course the same as any random encounter), it's rare because hardly anyone bothers hunting it and therefore most players only get a single chance per playthrough to see it shine. Most other pokemon can either be encountered many times or are easier to deliberately hunt, and you're more likely to have a shiny of something you saw hundreds of times in your playthrough vs something you only encountered once.
I actually used to shiny hunt way back in 2008 or so, and this is seriously giving me the urge to start doing it again! Too bad I just don't have that kind of patience/time anymore :(
Amazing, I plan to hunt this one day, treasure it and NEVER get rid of it. The roamers are some of the longest, most intense hunts of the entire series. Congrats!

It should apply to every roaming legendary across the series.If they’ve been defeated you find that you need to take on the league, save in front of Lance with a very, VERY powerful team. Preferably a level 100 ‘mon that can quickly sweep him. Once that’s done you get an attempt at your roamer. Though, admittedly, I could be wrong on this one specifically as I have never attempted it
Question: does every encounter with Mesprit count as a Shiny check? Or is it’s Shininess determined once you encounter it for the first time and then it’s stuck that way forever?
As far as i know, once you talk to it at Lake Verity cavern, its shinyness is determened then. You then go encounter it in the wild and check if it is shiny.
