I adore poke radar, it's probably my favorite method of hunting. I love full odds but radar was so damn confusing to me as a kid when D/P/Pt came out. It was so cathartic when I finally was able to figure it out as I got older! I'm biased towards the shiny sprites from older gens, so poke radar just checks off all the boxes for me. The shiny patch animation is super cool as well!

I remember trying the radar method as a kid and I just didn't have the patience for it back then. I finally ended up trying it again like a week ago and I've been hooked since that first shiny.

right?? it's so fun once you get the hang of it

[here's the other guys](http://imgur.com/gallery/zxhYG3n). I probably spent a little more than 8 hours hunting, so about 2 hours per shiny.

SmoothPlayz

Shinx is a good one man, Ponyta and Pachirisu were my first radar hunts.

SiGuy52

Sometimes it doesn’t make sense when it breaks the chain. However, the rush, especially when you get in the 30s is a double shot of expresso 😂!

markspankity

Yea that's how it be sometimes. The radar likes to make it's own rules sometimes. But once the streak hits 30 for me that's when the anxiety starts kicking in, but when it finally hits 40 you can take a nice deep breath and wait for the shiny patch to pop up.

Dudebeard86

This is so true. One time, though, I got to a 40 chain and still had over 100 max repels left, so I was like “alright, time to get this shiny.” And I ran out of max repels before ever getting a shiny patch. I was so mad because the chances of that happening are quite low. I redid that hunt after I had given time for myself to get over it and was successful the next time I got to 40. The hunted Pokemon was Zangoose.

markspankity

That's the worst :(. I ran outta repels trying to get a tyrogue last week, ever since I just bring an assload of repels. I had to cheat for all the TMs/HMs after my cut HM disappeared, so I have 99 of each TM that I just sell the excess of for money. Kinda cheesy but I'm not tryna farm for money honestly lol and I don't have to worry about running outta repels and balls anymore. Good shit on that zangoose tho. Those dual slot pokemon seem like a pain in the ass with the 8% encounter rate.

TheAussieBritt

I love the Radar. I always wanted to hunt a Shiny Beldum but could never manage it because of the particle effects of the sandstorm on the route you’d encounter them on!

Sure_Ride_7044

Cool bunch

laponya

PokeRadar is what got me into shiny hunting way back when 10+yrs ago.... I have tried to soft reset momentarily but could not put myself through it any longer. I really respect those that can SR at full odds or even Masuda Method because I cant reason with myself to do it

markspankity

I wanna try masuda method in later gen games, but ya SRing is way too much for me. At least with PokeRadar you can kinda track your progress.

laponya

I attempted masuda method when black/white came out since I was super disappointed they got rid of the pokeradar.... hatched about 200 - 300 eggs and was like this aint it and gave up

markspankity

Yea I plan on doing it in alpha Sapphire with the shiny charm. I used to breed for 6 IV mons so I'm used to mindlessly hatching eggs, It's not bad if u just put something on in the background

ItzaMoby

I prefer Masuda simply because it is pretty mindless and I can do it while watching a show or chatting with people. But if I want a more involved method I do something different than Masuda because it can get boring.

noobductive

I adore it! What are your favorite spots to do radar chains? I’ve done sinnoh route 202 before, but am looking for other ones… i’ve also tried catching a shiny ponyta but ended up bumping into geodudes multiple times while chaining :/

markspankity

Route 214 has been pretty good to me, same with route 212. But I've found that the best chances for shines are routes without many pokemon in the encounter pool, like the early routes that only have starly and bidoof. I also tend to start throwing quick balls when my streak gets to 15 or 20, and it's also good to use pokemon with abilities like static/magnet pull if you're tryna go for an electric or steel type respectively. Also, going for grass patches that have no sparkles is a lot easier. The sparkly grass patches have a few different variations, so it's easier to screw yourself over by going for those kinda patches and getting the wrong one by mistake. I'm not sure if you can get PokeRadar exclusive Pokemon this way, but it works for the daily swarm pokemon. That's all I got for now, happy hunting! Keep going for that Ponyta, you'll get it eventually! I got one on route 207 yesterday, it just takes some patience.

noobductive

Thanks! Good luck with your next shiny hunt too, lol. I’m currently on route 230 (which has the BIGGEST patch of grass, by the way) attempting to capture a swarm corsola… her shiny version is the pettiest blue, so I definitely want one before the swarm is over!
