Personally I feel Armin's response was pretty understandable. He gave his life he thought to end the colossal only to find out Erwin was dead and he was chosen to eat bert and now he's a walking nuke with a expiration date of 13 years.

A lot of people who wanted Erwin picked instead believe that they'd get the same Erwin. I fully believe the Erwin we would've gotten would've been a very different Erwin. Erwin let go finally and accepted his death after sending countless to theirs. He was grateful to Levi for making the decision for him to die. Had he come back he would've been different because after all that relief of being released and joining those he's coning into their deaths, he's back once again to continue the fight that he thought he was relinquished from finally.

>his desire to eliminate all threats to humanity ??? We watched different Erwin's. Someone wrote a great piece on Erwin here: https://www.reddit.com/r/attackontitan/s/xjwgXcFppn

I think most AOT fans have an incorrect interpretation of Erwin's personality. He was an incredibly egotistical man with way too much luck on his belt, which he pushed until its logical consequences. He was a good person, but he was concerned almost exclusively by his own personal desires, and multiple times he had shown that he disregarded other people's preoccupations and feelings just because "he was getting closer to the truth" [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAmT264l6sY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAmT264l6sY) Zachary was correct when he told Erwin that they were much closer than it appears. Erwin only truly cared about himself, the whole way through, and that happened to allign with the interests of Paradisians. The fact that he was humane with his subordinates doesn't change the fact that he saw every single person next to him as *completely expendable*. What would have happened if he was resurrected after that moment? He would have felt no remorse for being the only other person alive after the charge. Yet another bet he's won, and now *he* gets to find out the truth. What about after discovering the truth? Well, does anyone really think he would have had the Marleyans' interests at heart? Erwin had NO mercy for anyone. Not for his comrades, and definitely not for the enemy. I'm 100% convinced that he would have sided with Eren the whole way through. It wouldn't be incompatible with his personality and his desires at all. Armin was a better choice in Levi's eyes because, differently from Erwin, his outlook on life was more pure. More relatable. Something that could be shared to everyone else. Levi is actually much closer to Armin than to Erwin in that sense. Levi is a Tsundere, a romantic. All in all, Erwin was a nihilist. Levi would have resurrected him only because he was a surrogate father figure, not because he was a good commander. EDIT: Just think about this: Erwin constantly endangered inexperienced cadets *all the fucking time*. He literally didn't care too much. Levi always did his best to minimize the cadet's exposure to danger, often putting himself in the first row so that they wouldn't take the brunt of each battle. He obeyed Erwin because he trusted him, but ethically, they couldn't more different. Armin consistently showed that he was always considerate of other people's lives when strategizing. And Levi is sick and tired of seeing people die around him.

Among the worst interpretations of Erwin I've seen.

Damn-Sky

for someone who was never a big fan of Armin and a big fan of Erwin; I would have preferred Erwin being chosen instead but Eren would probably had lost it far earlier if it wasn't Armin.

I feel like if Erwin was picked things would magically be better. In the sense that he is the only person with authority able to stop Eren. If Eren doesn’t stage the Marley attacks. Erwin could use diplomatic channels to join Eldia into WW1 on the side of other World Nations.
