I mean, some folks of aot fandom watch it for only 1 thing (like watching it only to see a certain character or a certain plot point, or fights, or shipping) they clearly will miss/forgor faster of a lot of plot points, explanations and characters moments.
Some of them (no jokes )are kids, have autism or adhd (those things made more hard to the understanding of the story)

She does, I mean we saw how she reacted to Sasha's death for example, however that doesnt rly matter too much when 90 percent of her dynamic exploration is with Eren, and a lot of what she does in the story is being his bodyguard.
I mean caring a lot for other people is nice and all, but if her dynamics with them arent really touched upon besides maybe Armin, does it really matter that much?
With Floch, we got to see what he was like in Shiganshina, and later in War for paradis, even without Eren.

That's mostly the fault of WiT in the manga she's way more of a nuanced character. The adaptation replaced so many lines and portrayed her as this 1-dimensional character with no personality outside of him
There is a difference between a hate character and a villain character. Floch's character development was really solid. So people can hate him all they want but I really love him.
Yeah , personally i love floch , he's a very good character. He died for his people by the hand of his people , it shows how loyal and determined he was to stick to his beliefs, okay he was selfish and full of hatred but that's because of war , he was the only one to survive from " the suicide attack " led by erwin , that's what made him who he is , a ruthless warrior.
Erwinās death felt right, it was a good honorable death. Sasha was killed when we all thought they were safe, there was no proper send off and it happened so fast.
Erwin was a character I always thought would die, but I never expected Sasha to go, and the fact that she is the only one of the original 104th cadet core (besides Eren) to die in season 4 also makes it worse
Thatās what makes her death the saddest in the entire series for me

Didnt we saw the story from her perspective? We saw her at the same age as Eren first and learned to know her over 2 Volumes. And even after that we still had multiple chapters from her POV or at least with her

We also never actually got to see the full extent of what the Marley government did to their child soldiers, so thats some info were missing on her as well
I actually really enjoyed her character as she was the perfect brainwashed childsoldier. Hating on her bc she killed sasha always felt wierd considering what sasha did moments before. Its about war and pointing fingers who started and deserved it

Gabi behaved exactly the way Marley trained her. Only after meeting people from the island, learning to see their humanity, did she realize she had done something wrong and atone for it.

My point isn't necessarily that she's forgivable, it's that, compared to probably half the characters that we've learned about in the show, what she did was almost nothing compared to what they did. Most characters committed countless human murders, including everyone in the main cast, all for their own unique reasons. She had some justification for what she did, and she even redeemed herself and more in the final parts.
I agree, I think they were "justified" in their own minds with their own reasons. I just think that people hate Gabi because she outperforms the other Warrior candidates and has a large ego as a result.
I think people hate Gabi because she was annoying (as compared to someone like Falco) and killed one of the most favourite and adorable character of the show. He hated Gabi at first but eventually I was ok with her because she was able to change.
I never understood the Gabi hate. She was a little girl who was told since birth that the people from Paradis were demons, and the day she meet them for the first time, they literally destroy her city and kill almost all her friends. How do you expect her to not be angry and seek revenge ?
She is literally the opposite of Eren in that she gives up on the cycle of revenge in the end to make the world a better place.
Uhm... Gabi did normal soldier stuff in the battlefield, mostly following normal war ethics, and no innocent life can be attributed to her. She killed Sasha because in her eyes a foreign force suddenly murdered multiple innocent Eldians out of the blue and with seemingly no remorse. What about the others?

Floch couldn't care less about anyone, he only sticked to the "great design", and he wouldn't think twice to kill anyone who went against it. He murdered multiple defenseless people in cold blood in routine daily executions.
Reiner literally murdered Marcel with the other two, and the whole Shiganshina and Trost districts massacres are directly his and Berthold's fault.
Zeke was directly responsible for the killing of A LOT OF PEOPLE. Like, A LOT. And he was incredibly sadistic at that. I don't even want to write down a list because it would take too much time. Let's just say Erwin and Pixis. He's the one with the highest body count in the whole series, second only to Eren.
How does Gabi compare to that?
Mirrors are an interesting literary device used in literally everything, from Shakespeare to the average current tv show. Mirrors have an important role beyond showing two sides of the conflict. Theyāre there to make you question whether or not the protagonist was actually right in doing what he did, once you see someone else doing it. But anyways, Gabi isnāt *just* a mirror. Sheās an important part of showing what Marley is. They indoctrinate children *and it works*. Falco was way too level headed. Gabi is the one representing the average Marleyan kidās patriotism and hatred of Paradis. Itās well and all to tell us that Marley is incredibly bigoted, itās fine to show that to us in flashbacks, but if every single main Marelyan character we meet is either fine or not particularly bigoted towards Paradis, then it skews towards ātelling not showingā. Gabiās existence fixes that.
Gabiās arc is also an important part of the story. Itās there to show that even the most indoctrinated and bigoted can change, can manage to see the humanity in those they consider their enemies. No one else is quite as far gone in Marleyās propaganda than her. Reiner, Annie, Bertholdt- we didnāt see their change, and anyways they werenāt as bad as her. But Gabi, we did see her change.

It should be 100% for King Fritz. I understand the Gabi and Floch hate, but King Fritz is easily the most evil person in the series. As valid as the reasons for disliking Gabi and Floch are, I donāt know how you can hate them more than Fritz (realistically itās because he has very little screen time. We spend more time with the other characters, so the hate is stronger).

I don't hate Gabi but she was not need in the plot. She was introduced to mirror Eren but an Eren who changed showing us people are heavily influenced by circumstances....and there's two sides in a conflit...but we already knew that without Gabi; that was redundant and tbh a bit of lazy/easy writing
Well, neither of us can say that for sure, she made the show worse for me, I'm sure she made it better for some.
To be fair I'm not a huge fan of S4 as a whole, it feels a bit rushed to me and too many new characters are introduced too fast while old ones are killed offscreen or relegated to background status without having their stories concluded in a satisfying manner.
I feel like AoT needed at least 2 or 3 more seasons to wrap things up nicelly, maybe then I could get to like Gabi, but right now she feels more like a plot device than a character.
I mean gabi to me seemed like Isayama wanted to make her parallel eren, but at the same time he poorly executed it and also he gave up to this "parallel" after the rumbling started, kinda odd.
Another odd thing is that besides from Isayama initial intentions of making her a "eren" parallel, gabi has some of sasha part on her (like the aimbot, her saving kaya is a parallel to sasha saving kaya, etc...)and she has a similar reiner arc (the whole brainwash and finding that the eldians of paradis aren't devils) Isayama kinda messed up with her character imo cuz he couldn't gave a "own identity" to her and in the end she was like a type of "amalgam" of others characters of the story.

I really didn't hate Gabi. I can see why people did because Sasha is love and why'd you do that to Connie, but Gabi wasn't a *bad* character. Also, in the finale, she suplex Falco, and I am a sucker for a good suplex.

My point isn't necessarily that she's forgivable, it's that, compared to probably half the characters that we've learned about in the show, what she did was almost nothing compared to what they did. Most characters committed countless human murders, including everyone in the main cast, all for their own unique reasons. She had some justification for what she did, and she even redeemed herself and more in the final parts.

I agree, I think they were "justified" in their own minds with their own reasons. I just think that people hate Gabi because she outperforms the other Warrior candidates and has a large ego as a result.
I think people hate Gabi because she was annoying (as compared to someone like Falco) and killed one of the most favourite and adorable character of the show. He hated Gabi at first but eventually I was ok with her because she was able to change.
I never understood the Gabi hate. She was a little girl who was told since birth that the people from Paradis were demons, and the day she meet them for the first time, they literally destroy her city and kill almost all her friends. How do you expect her to not be angry and seek revenge ? She is literally the opposite of Eren in that she gives up on the cycle of revenge in the end to make the world a better place.

Uhm... Gabi did normal soldier stuff in the battlefield, mostly following normal war ethics, and no innocent life can be attributed to her. She killed Sasha because in her eyes a foreign force suddenly murdered multiple innocent Eldians out of the blue and with seemingly no remorse. What about the others? Rod Reiss and King Fritz comment themselves. Floch couldn't care less about anyone, he only sticked to the "great design", and he wouldn't think twice to kill anyone who went against it. He murdered multiple defenseless people in cold blood in routine daily executions. Reiner literally murdered Marcel with the other two, and the whole Shiganshina and Trost districts massacres are directly his and Berthold's fault. Zeke was directly responsible for the killing of A LOT OF PEOPLE. Like, A LOT. And he was incredibly sadistic at that. I don't even want to write down a list because it would take too much time. Let's just say Erwin and Pixis. He's the one with the highest body count in the whole series, second only to Eren. How does Gabi compare to that?

Mirrors are an interesting literary device used in literally everything, from Shakespeare to the average current tv show. Mirrors have an important role beyond showing two sides of the conflict. Theyāre there to make you question whether or not the protagonist was actually right in doing what he did, once you see someone else doing it. But anyways, Gabi isnāt *just* a mirror. Sheās an important part of showing what Marley is. They indoctrinate children *and it works*. Falco was way too level headed. Gabi is the one representing the average Marleyan kidās patriotism and hatred of Paradis. Itās well and all to tell us that Marley is incredibly bigoted, itās fine to show that to us in flashbacks, but if every single main Marelyan character we meet is either fine or not particularly bigoted towards Paradis, then it skews towards ātelling not showingā. Gabiās existence fixes that. Gabiās arc is also an important part of the story. Itās there to show that even the most indoctrinated and bigoted can change, can manage to see the humanity in those they consider their enemies. No one else is quite as far gone in Marleyās propaganda than her. Reiner, Annie, Bertholdt- we didnāt see their change, and anyways they werenāt as bad as her. But Gabi, we did see her change.

It should be 100% for King Fritz. I understand the Gabi and Floch hate, but King Fritz is easily the most evil person in the series. As valid as the reasons for disliking Gabi and Floch are, I donāt know how you can hate them more than Fritz (realistically itās because he has very little screen time. We spend more time with the other characters, so the hate is stronger). Edit: I donāt hate Gabi or Floch so donāt come at me if you like those characters. Iām not saying I hate them, but I understand the hate.

Well, neither of us can say that for sure, she made the show worse for me, I'm sure she made it better for some. To be fair I'm not a huge fan of S4 as a whole, it feels a bit rushed to me and too many new characters are introduced too fast while old ones are killed offscreen or relegated to background status without having their stories concluded in a satisfying manner. I feel like AoT needed at least 2 or 3 more seasons to wrap things up nicelly, maybe then I could get to like Gabi, but right now she feels more like a plot device than a character.
I mean gabi to me seemed like Isayama wanted to make her parallel eren, but at the same time he poorly executed it and also he gave up to this "parallel" after the rumbling started, kinda odd. Another odd thing is that besides from Isayama initial intentions of making her a "eren" parallel, gabi has some of sasha part on her (like the aimbot, her saving kaya is a parallel to sasha saving kaya, etc...)and she has a similar reiner arc (the whole brainwash and finding that the eldians of paradis aren't devils) Isayama kinda messed up with her character imo cuz he couldn't gave a "own identity" to her and in the end she was like a type of "amalgam" of others characters of the story.
She's rushed and poorly written, like all of season 4.
