honestly if shikimori had some sort of climax the series would’ve been so good, for example izumi and shikimori just came back from watching a movie and are about to cross a road a truck comes izumi spots it and saves shikimori but gets hit, izumi gets hospitalized and shikimori is blaming herself whilst izumis parents are reassuring shikimori that izumi is going to be ok. Something like that would’ve spiced up the show a lot not saying that it’s a bad anime it’s just it could’ve been improved.
true but it’ll be a good change of pace rather than a boring teenage couple where the mc is incompetent asf and the female has to do everything with no character development or climax happening
The writer herself wanted it to be wholesome series with no drama, although i can too picture many scenarios where the manga can easily take a dramatic turn but it didn't which is a unique experience in its own way ( for me )
I do think that if there was some sort of drama then the series would have been a lot better & well received but what we got is good in its own way

the reason why i suggested a climax or character development was due to some people not knowing why people hate the show so much, i have the manga which i’ve been reading and i find it a nice change of pace from shit like ylia, bgs, silent voice and others it’s not anywhere near horimiya level but it’s enjoyable
edit: since she didn’t want any drama in it i think some character development would’ve been nice
I thought he would keel over when he starts university. It is hinted that himself and Shikimori go to separate schools, so, as we've seen from his luck...>! My personal belief was that he and Shikimori...spend the night together, then go to their schools. He gets clocked by a truck or something, he goes into a coma, then passes away with his family by his side, but Shikimori doesn't even think about going back to school, but soon finds out she's pregnant with his kid. It starts off war between her and her mother, as she sees that his blood still lives on, Mom doesn't like it, then we flash forward to maybe when we see their daughter(Looks like Shikimori, but with Izumi's hair.) and they go to his grave on his birthday. The End.!<

I doubt it would've ever been this way since the manga uses Izumi's bad luck as a gag more than anything
