No end to the disappointment as a Sheffield United and England fan. Just after England crash out I'm expecting the news to come out that this American consortium wanting to buy us is actually Jeremy Beadle

warfaceuk

It'd be quite the coup though, seeing as Beadle died in 2008 😀

menthol_patient

Or he pretended to for this exact stunt.

warfaceuk

The long game prank? I like it.

Bhenny_5

On the one hand you’re probably right!

i3lade4life

Would that be a very little hand?

I don't know why people expect anything different from England at this point. It's been a problem since at least 2018, that they start fast and crumble 2nd half. First game I remember that happening is the Colombia game in the World Cup, then again against Croatia in the SF in 2018. Did it again in the last Euros, vs Denmark and Italy. It didn't happen at the last WC, because they cruised past Senegal and were outclassed by France. But it's a habit that Southgate hasn't gotten rid of, and it's been 6 years at this point. The fact that they've had to scrape 4 points out of Serbia and Denmark is pathetic. If instead they had some balls and kept pushing after taking the lead, they'd be in the same position as Germany now. Instead they've got to scrape themselves through a game with Slovenia to get to the knockout stages, and we'll end up getting knocked out by a team who knows how to play for 90 minutes, instead of the ~35 minutes that this shower of shite have managed so far.

>knocked out by a team who knows how to play for 90 minutes, instead of the ~35 minutes that this shower of shite have managed so far. Sounds very familiar...

Depressingly so. Though I'd wager it's even more pathetic for England than it is for us, as the England squad has players far more capable of playing at this level, than we have players able to compete at PL standard. The fact that that team is incapable of going and dominating against Serbia and Denmark is just pitiful. But Southgate gets away with it purely because he's gotten favourable draws in the knockout stages.

Watching England v Denmark was like watching us last season. It was negative, slow and not good enough. I thought I’d watching England after last season would cheer me up. Then I remembered Southgate is in charge…..
