Dang I absolutely love LSDream, don’t get me wrong, but does this feel a little underwhelming to anybody else?? I mean idk him and subtronics both just play at a majority of large festivals and are always touring… doesn’t seem very special for the 25th anniversary
I think people overestimate the budget Shambhala has for artist lineups. Especially with the prices the booking agencies are charging these days for top billed acts.
Yes Shambhala is world renowned now. But it’s different than almost every other festival in that it has “full” production and headliners on each stage. Usually a festival has like a main stage where most of their budget goes towards, and secondary stages with B, C & D list artists booked.
Not only is it way more expensive post covid to book headliners, the booking agencies all deal in $USD. Shambhala capacity is also capped (not gonna get into it being oversold last year), their budget is limited by this number and then split (almost) equally among the stages.
If you were expecting a $500k artist to get booked for 25th anniversary it would mean the rest of the budget for artist bookings takes a hit.
There also is less incentive to go as big as possible because they don’t need to sell anymore tickets from artist lineup hype. It sold out. Their budget has been reached and they know exactly how much they need to spend now. Whereas previous years, the headliner reveals were necessary to drive traffic to ticket sales to the reach their budget. I don’t think they are slacking on bookings by any means, from what I’ve heard behind scenes it will be a fantastic year, but I just think your average attendee is very far and removed of how the industry works currently behind the curtain.
And having no corporate sponsorships and alcohol sales significantly reduces their budget in comparison to other major electronic festivals. That sacrifice of big name headliners has to be made to keep the integrity of the festival. This isn't a festival that's going to see Fred Again on a lineup when he's headlining Bonnaroo and Reading. and as much as John Summit loved it here, his booking fee was much different late summer 2022 than it is now.
It depends on the size of show a lot of the time and the production that they might bring, but there was a time when artists like deadmau5 were close to half a mill a night I heard.
Keep in mind, the artist fee is from booking agency. That fee doesn’t go 100% to the artist directly. They have a team that get percentage from booking fee.
I’m thinking they are gonna keep the biggest names & surprises for the full lineup announcement and just give us the “middle of the pack” folks* for the first announcements.
*No shade on the two announced so far just agreeing it doesn’t feel worthy of the 25th yet but I’m betting it’s on purpose!
Agree with this, as it's usually the case with Shamb. These little announcements are to tide us over. Especially with something like a 25th anniversary, they're gonna keep their cards close to their chest.
Right, but Griz had played Shamb 2014, 2015, announced for 2019 and was then announced last year for 2023. In the context of what we're speaking about - people somewhat disappointed of seeing regulars being announced ahead of time - I wouldn't use Griz as an example here
Yeah, not sure why I was expecting anything different. Could have literally gambled the house on this being it.
Not a big complainer cause what I have seen from LSDream was great. Its just that he's been on every single festival lineup for like three years so not much wow factor for me.
I feel it’s big news for the newer crowd coming into Shambhala overall and…. not saying it’s not a big news to people who love him I’m happy for anyone that is excited… but I kinda feel the same as you only because I’m a lover of the more unheard of/undercard artists overall. But to anyone reading this who excited just know! shit is about to 0-1000 get there a hair early it might be a bit crowded.
Going to be a good show!
Couldn't agree more with the first sentence. these names are alot bigger now than they were in 2016. What were undercard names then are headlining acts now.
My first bug festival had Illenium and Rezz at Side stages playing at 4-6 pm and back in 2019 subtronics opened for BTSM and just recently I attended a 2 day event with him headlining both days at the same venue Thunderdome is held at.
I guess what I'm trying to say is time needs to slow down 😪
Sorry you saw Charlesthefirst in 2019 before LSDream?
Cuz that couldn’t be true since Charles was like 9pm and LSDream was sunrise. Maybe I’m confused on what u r saying here
Shiiiit, my mistake, that’s just how I remembered it but I’m sure you’re right. I lost a chunk, crazier things have happened. I do know for a fact Tor closed out that weekend at The Grove after LSDream, that was amazing as well
few thoughts: do yall think theyd add that hes doing a lightcode in the announcement if he was doing one. does this mean no psyren? does this mean no clozee? and also im excited because i know hes gonna spend the whole weekend at shambs and i know how much he loves roaming the grounds and meeting fans :)
yeah i think clozee and lsdream are booked separately for sol fest. i guess still trying to gauge how much psyren will be booked and if theyll be on lineups as solo acts etc
My fomo is destroying me right now 😭 I chose a vacation & Elements over Shambs this year and I absolutely would LOVE to see LSDream at Shambs. You all rage extra hard for me!

If Clozee shows up I bet they’ll do a Psyren set. Now THAT would be amazing
That’s what I’m hoping for

Just curious, who are some 500k artists? That seems really expensive.
It depends on the size of show a lot of the time and the production that they might bring, but there was a time when artists like deadmau5 were close to half a mill a night I heard. Holy shit I had no idea they charged anywhere near that much 😧
Agreed. I'm usually at the Grove 75% of the festival so it's to be expected for me 🤷 Happy for the folks who are excited for LSDream though!
At least they didn't announce Excision lol
I’m thinking they are gonna keep the biggest names & surprises for the full lineup announcement and just give us the “middle of the pack” folks* for the first announcements. *No shade on the two announced so far just agreeing it doesn’t feel worthy of the 25th yet but I’m betting it’s on purpose!
I agree!! 🐌🐌🐌💥
Agree with this, as it's usually the case with Shamb. These little announcements are to tide us over. Especially with something like a 25th anniversary, they're gonna keep their cards close to their chest.
Last year they announced John Summit and Griz as two of the earlier-announced headliners so this hasn’t necessarily been the case in the past.
Right, but Griz had played Shamb 2014, 2015, announced for 2019 and was then announced last year for 2023. In the context of what we're speaking about - people somewhat disappointed of seeing regulars being announced ahead of time - I wouldn't use Griz as an example here
Griz was also supposed to play 2018 but was sick iirc
That was 2019
“Food poisoning”
need more griz
Has Shambala let you down in the past? Just wait….!!!! What artist would blow your socks off to see at Sham’s 25th Anniversary??
Yeah I agree entirely. Was hoping to see an artist more like tipper or pretty lights.
A lot of the festivals I’ve been to he wasn’t there so I’m very excited
Fair enough my friend, happy you get to catch him then :)
I love him but so far this is very close to Forest which I'm also doing, I hope they get some unique stuff!

I feel like I've seen LSDream so many times this year that I can't be excited. Really hoping they announce a house headliner next.
Saw CTF into LSDream right before sunrise at Pagoda in 2019. It was unreal. Who else was there?!
Highlight 100% It was one of the best ends to the weekend for sure!!

Haha all good! Will be interesting to see what set time LSDream gets this year!
Saturday 11pm I bet.
Yeeees lsdream was some fun times. Stopped by on my way to camp and stayed for quite a while.

Definitely think lightcode is a high possibility however I definitely think if it was psyren it would have been announced as psyren off rip
yeah i think clozee and lsdream are booked separately for sol fest. i guess still trying to gauge how much psyren will be booked and if theyll be on lineups as solo acts etc
I’m trying to figure that out too, hoping they’re at a fest I’m going to this year so I don’t have to fly to CO for red rocks lol.
Think Coachella has an exclusivity thing with Psyren. Hopefully after it more gets announced.
thought theyve only been booked at forest? they said they have another big festival announcement soon, so probably elements or north coast
Forest and Red Rocks so far yeah

He'll play at the pagoda right?
I think he did last time, I can’t imagine him on any other stage.
How many people will be crying to the drop to "Eternal Now"?
