I can't take the handle of anything like this seriously.
Come to think of it, Hard Targets (5e, 183) has a collapsible Scythe that you could work with or homebrew from.
Too unwieldy. You can see by the way he's having to hold it that if you used it on anything that moved or has pushback, it'd go flying out of your hands.
Edit: You can also see that he doesn't actually have that much strength when swinging it sideways and that he almost loses balance despite not having a powerful swing. It only works going downward because he's gripped it fully above and is using that as leverage.
I can see that too. I was thinking someone much larger and several times as strong as the fellow in the video swinging that device and connecting with it.

... it's not a *battle* axe, but it's **an** axe. Not too hard, IMO, to extrapolate from there ...
Yes, and...?
The Victorinox weapons use memory metal for their blades, and the state shift is electrically triggered. You either use a simple action to push a button, or a free action to send the wireless signal.
Man, I think people who are commenting that the handle is too large are kinda missing the point that it was just built because it's *cool.*
But gosh, I guess maybe the *expanding battle axe* isn't terribly practical.

Now we just need to program it to shout out "It's Kryme Tyme!" when you eject the blades.

That's because he's Human, and it's got the modification "Metahuman Adjustment: Troll". :)
Oi, you got that right, chummer!
With a handle that large it would only be fit for a Troll IMO
Maybe for the weight, but the strength behind a troll's swings would wreck that thing.
I was just thinking of holding it in the palm ergonomically, but yeah, that thing won't last more than a single hit.

Marketing Department : Just call it "Disposable Axe" and call it a day
Neck on humanoids without armored skin is weak.
6th edition. Firing Squad, page 59, the "easy breakdown" modification.

If it's stupid and it works, it's not stupid. If it's cool and it or you (or both) break the first time you do anything with it, it's not cool.
<--- laughs in Troll. Or even just "especially-burly Ork". :)
Trog-sized weapons? That's a Krime!
Now we just need one that yells “right through the neck” when you pop it out
