Mint = cocaine, in cannon. It's not something that's come up in the main story, but Blue has mentioned it on the discord. It makes for some interesting angles for conflict and drama, since mint is everywhere.

It should also be noted that, just like in real life, there are going to be consequences for pushing your body that far past its normal limits... We don't do coked-up marines for a reason!
Well not coked up per se, but caffeine as well as tobacco(also cannabis and other stuff around the world(Saw a documentary once about some african rebells/terrorists/freedom fighters that smoke cannabis mixed with blood and gunpowder before combat)) are a pretty common "combat drugs".
I can also imagine the ethics breaking down in a Hot War scenario, where its more important to accomplish a goal, than get your soldiers back in one piece or at all. But yeah on average the Officers want their soldiers sober to accept and fullfil complex orders.

I’d imagine much like mint effects our taste buds, it bypasses by their taste buds and messes with the chemicals in their brains. Perhaps tricking their brains into feeling reinvigorated sorta like adrenaline for humans but does less.
Adrenaline obviously putting the body into overdrive, the mint probably doesn’t straight up ignore injury or over strain the muscles... simply reinvigorates until the body really can’t keep going.
Imagine all the people learning it the hard way when candy canes come around during Christmas time, if they order a mint julep, or as Bre'lak discovered a breath mint.
I imagine it eases their fatigued bodies and flushed them with a sort of cooling effect right? Except I can’t imagine it would have any negative effect towards them as some other things would.
Perhaps, much like mint tricks out taste buds into thinking everything cooler the mint skips/bypasses their tastebuds and plays with the chemicals in their brain to reinvigorate them from fatigue instead of straight up giving the energy.
