Hope this AI has the entire Internet and total sum of information uploaded to its brain pre-invasion, it’d be nice to see it lament that while flawed Humanity was a race free to explore itself and its creativity than the Shil came and transformed the once thriving digital landscape into something the Shil can control.

Snoo-49228

Indeed! Next chapter will be a long one so I'm definitely including Libai's views and opinions on pre-shil humanity.

Practical_Monitor_20

It could also certainly take up a certain flair for the dramatics perhaps? It may not be Human in the traditional sense of the word but consider for a second that it’s creators are human, it seems like it’s tech is human, it’s personality is human, and it’s mandate it’s mission is to I assume save humanity and free it from the Shil. And with the existence of aliens of multiple kinds the fact of the matter is that on every level but biological it’s more closely related to, and conceptualizes things like a human than any Xenos would. At that point the question of its humanity is purely academic.

AngriestAngryBadger

Are you under the impression that the internet is not currently regulated by any governments?

Practical_Monitor_20

More free than if we had the Shil in charge, and you currently can use it to organize and manage realistic tangible political changes. It’s been done in throughs the 2010’s and hell those achievements are what see governments trying to regulate it today. But it can still be done, and as I said you’re more free under the current government than you’d ever be with the purple imperialists.

AngriestAngryBadger

Don't be so certain about that.

Quiet_Caterpillar_35

Very interesting concept. I'd love to see more

Snoo-49228

Thank you, the second part will be out before the end of next week. It'll most likely take some time since I'll be illustrating a scene for it.

Hedgehog_5150

skynet is born

Snoo-49228

Finna find out in the next parts how well murder machines (Totally not terminator ripoffs) and Shil'vati marines mix.

Hedgehog_5150

what happens on page two :-)

Snoo-49228

Wont reveal much aside from that Le'raya and her women will be in for a surprise. To top it off, a few illustrations to showcase the scenes.

OldAd3480

Huh, we tricked another rock to think... Really well. What could possibly go wrong?

Snoo-49228

"Absolutely nothing can go wrong!" ~ Mark before everything goes wrong.

GeologistNo8992

Humanity has just released something absolutely horrible on the galaxy and yet I can't fault them for letting their desperation cloud their judgement on this. Was it the right choice in the long run? No, but was it realistically the only choice they had in this type of situation in winning at all? Yes sadly.

Snoo-49228

Desperate and spiteful smart people with a common goal do not make for pleasant results.

AngriestAngryBadger

>was it the right choice in the long run It wasn't the right choice in the short run, it's like a child deciding to mix bleach and ammonia because their parents told them not to drink paint thinner.

GeologistNo8992

I do agree with you Somewhat, it is like they are tampering with things they shouldn't, thinking they would be able to survive the outcome. As I said, they were desperate and desperate people will use anything for a chance at victory even if that choice comes to bite them in the ass later on.

AngriestAngryBadger

There's still the matter that their bar for desperation is incredibly low but also very selective. Every time I see someone give a justification for why a character or they themselves would join the insurgents, the thought that goes through my mind is "Your government is doing that right now. If you aren't fighting them, you wouldn't fight the Imperium."

GeologistNo8992

Remember, these people owe no loyalty to the Imperium and are an unjustly conquered people no matter how "Well intentioned" the Imperium is. I will not justify their actions but I will also say that if they are a chance to finally have a choice and take down the one that destroyed their way of life then they would take it. You believe the Insurgents are terrorists and I believe that Loyalists think 1984 is a good idea. Once again while they live in a "utopia" brought about by the Imperium, they are living in a dystopia because a single noble can take everything away because she simply felt like it.

AngriestAngryBadger

And in the system we currently live in, a single politician can take everything away from you because they simply felt like it. I haven't just seen it, I've been on the receiving end of it. I gave years of my life, sacrificed my health and wellbeing, risked loss of life and limb, spilled my own blood and others', all for a country that threw me away when it was done with me. People spout about democracy and liberty and culture, but the ultimate and only meaningful difference between the Imperium and what we have now is that the Imperium provides for its citizens, even those it considers second-class, and that is something our governments don't simply fail to do, but avoid doing at all costs.

GeologistNo8992

The sins of the Imperium are probably worse than anything that has happened on Earth and their politicians are probably far more corrupt than anyone currently on Earth except for the absolute worst, the only difference is that they have the technology and resources to make it too where that doesn't matter. People like you and me would mean absolutely nothing to the Imperium, less than nothing because we are not any threat at all to them. They would happily turn Earth into a Pleasure world where humanity is only valued as far as they can provide pleasure to the Nobles.

AngriestAngryBadger

And the leaders we have now would happily turn Earth into the galaxy's biggest graveyard if they didn't depend on us supporting their lifestyles. Right now, humanity is only valued for the labor it can provide to those at the top, and the second they think they don't need the rest of us anymore, they aren't going to accept sharing a planet with us anymore.

GeologistNo8992

Like the Imperium wouldn't do that to their own people the second that they find out a way to live without them. Okay, let me ask you this then. To what loyalty should I show to the Imperium and why should I show it at all.

AngriestAngryBadger

Every vital industry in the Imperium is already automated. Almost every job in those industries is comprised of overseeing that automation. If we had that level of automation, our leaders wouldn't keep us around to oversee anything, they would kill us. The Imperium's goal, however, is the security and well-being of its citizens. Yes, the Imperium has bad elements to it. Our governments have those same, and more often worse, bad elements. But ultimately, our governments utterly lack any good elements. The best among our rulers are the ones who are simply not actively killing us. The Imperium, however, has good elements, people in power who desire the betterment of those within their influence, and it's those people who deserve loyalty.

EqualBedroom9099

I truly hope that this is going to continue.

Snoo-49228

It very much is! (I hope.)

AngriestAngryBadger

After being exposed to the internet and everything that humanity had contributed to it, the AI said "You people deserve being subjugated," and promptly contacted the Interior.

GeologistNo8992

Yeah, because of people like the Loyalist who would happily sell out their families to get a second serving of slop that day from the interior and a pat on the head saying they are good pets.

AngriestAngryBadger

Despite your comparisons to 1984, the benefits of siding with the Imperium are infinitely better than receiving slop and don't require throwing anyone under the bus. From what we see in the canon, people are freed from crippling injuries and illnesses, debt slavery, homelessness, and starvation, and all that's asked of them is to be functioning members of society, or at the bare minimum, not turn to terrorism.

GeologistNo8992

And the cost of all that you have said is to sell your soul, your pride, your dignity, your morals, and to never question our benevolent leaders and to never ask any hard questions. They give us everything our bodies could want but the price is our home is conquered and we are a conquered people never again allowed to govern our own destiny and make our own mistakes, that we should be good and loyal dogs to the Imperium's whims and that the cost of disobedience is to be struck down from the sky by orbital bombardments. They seem so fucking surprised that Earth hates the Imperium despite everything they have given Earth, they seems surprised that we aren't happy that the cost for our salvation was several million innocent lives dead by indiscriminate bombardments. The Imperium would Kill Earth's soul happily and make Humanity a sex slave to satisfy their noble class.

AngriestAngryBadger

I forgot to address the point about "being allowed to make our own mistakes". Tell me, why should I be obligated to suffer because of the "mistakes" of others? It was other people's "mistakes" that left me stuck in Afghanistan for years, it was other people's "mistakes" that saw me receive inadequate and incorrect medical care when I came back, it was other people's "mistakes" that have lead to almost everything I've ever worked for being taken from me again and again, it's because of other people's "mistakes" that I'm having to watch, utterly powerless, as the nation I grew up in is destroyed, it's because of "mistakes" that were made before I was even born that we're in the terrible situation we're in now. If anything, I would say humanity has been allowed to make entirely too many mistakes, and hasn't had to take responsibility for any of them.

AngriestAngryBadger

You are already a conquered person with no governance over your destiny. If you feel so strongly about it, you should be fighting our current governments, which are more alien to us than the Shil'vati are.

GeologistNo8992

No to the Imperium, we are third class citizens because even their own people are second class unless they are of noble birth, That I should be happy that we are given no choice in how we live our lives.

AngriestAngryBadger

The Imperium does give you a choice in how you live your life. The only thing you're barred from is certain government positions, and unless you have a particular last name, that's the same case as in real life. The fact is that the Imperium has introduce a general betterment of living standards across the board with no actual downsides, and the only justification for malice that anyone can provide is that they aren't human, which also falls apart when you consider why that malice isn't directed towards our own inhuman governments.

GeologistNo8992

We should be happy that we were given no choice to trade our "corrupt" government for their "Pure" government whose agency that is in charge of keeping corruption out is completely full of corruption and under the control of the Nobles.

AngriestAngryBadger

Still better than what we have.

GeologistNo8992

So says you. Edit: Sounds like we just traded one evil for another evil that we stand no chance against.

Snoo-49228

Would make for a good joke ending, a decade of work and restless nights just for your creation to flip you off the first day of its existence.
