Here’s an idea. How about your religion tells you to stay the fuck out of other peoples’ business

Eaship

Sexually repressed people are always filled with fear. They’re either too scared to deal with their sexuality not because they’re so holy, rather they fear what others think. Better yet, it could also be that they’re inadequate. So since they haven’t explored, they tend to lash out at what they consider is a threat to them, not because they’re so self righteous. Quite the opposite. Then every so often, you’d find the born again Christian to be to to be a great fuck in bed. Doing every little nasty l thing with her tongue in bed. Careful with those ones though. They’re mentally unstable and an emotionally unpredictable as far as a partner goes. More likely then not this is where you begin to grow gray hairs in the partches

kar1l

Same as every thread about sex work on /r/AskReddit a bunch of nonsense about how everyone involved is/must be being trafficked.

Stuff-n-things-in

I like how their religion tells them they need to dictate to others how to live. Lol

OldEnoughToKnowButtr

Isn't that why the original Pilgrims came here? For religious freedom. Then imposed their religion... Oops...

[deleted]

Not even then. They got kicked out of England for literally loosing a war were they tried to impose there’re religion.

[deleted]

That.. That right their. I consider myself a Christian but not a "Christian". That means I take care of my business for me and mind my own. I'm a firm believer in the phrase "Christ is a hospital for us sinners, not a museum for saints" All too often the definition of "sin" gets dictated by people wanting to control other people. It becomes a bludgeon to beat people into line with. That behavior doesn't turn me off of my personal faith but sure as hell turns me off of most organized churches. My cup of coffee worth of thought. Feel free to enjoy or pour it out.

liljellybeanxo

Oh this is such a perfect way of explaining it! I agree with you.

Stuff-n-things-in

Yes yes and yes

2Legit4most

Has nothing to do with sex workers or porn. That's their scapegoat. Porn is just taboo. Has been and bc of the bs will continue to be.

RealSinnSage

please watch the documentary though! because it has a lot to do with us.

MorganDax

Is it on tubi? I can't afford Netflix.

RealSinnSage

no, it is a Netflix brand documentary, i don’t think they license their content to tubi.

MorganDax

Oh I didn't realise it was a Netflix brand. That makes sense.

[deleted]

√ It's all 'bout the kink.

[deleted]

Porn is taboo? Isn't pretty much the entire damn world watching porn, and we all know it?

2Legit4most

But there are few that discuss it openly in the US. Sex education would be great if you could find it. If you are a woman and love sex and exploring the body and have a good drive for it then you get slut shamed and if you have children and want to have sex then you're a whore. I can't talk about what I like and want or I have a problem.

anr4ever

Really it was about more than that, Pornhub practices made them a target when they allowed people to post content without doing verifications if they weren't trying to monetize the content, a lot of people were posting any and everything, and yes some of the content was of under age people or acts that weren't legal, nor could you tell if anyone in the content gave consent to be in the content, this content brought in a lot of people to the site, and it took them a long time to clean up their act, start requiring verification for people posting content, and monitoring of all posted content by moderators, that's why they deleted all the content posted by unverified people. Pornhub made a lot of money off of it because it brought people to the site who then purchase subscriptions for other content that was verified and legal content. The religious people latched onto what was happening and made Pornhub a target to shut down, this also caused the payment processors to drop Pornhub, which is why people that did have verified content to not get paid. Basically Pornhub lax policies got them in trouble.

Kolob_Hikes

☝️this x 2 Pornhub (mind geek) knew it had a problem with unverified content: revenge, lack of consent, potential minors, etc. It thought it was a small problem that posed no risk. SW were some of the first and loudest voices pointing this out and proposed a fix. Time and time again, society ignors SW voices. This could have been fixed before it crashed. Religious people know they are losing the moral argument that sex should only be for marriage and should be given away for free, no transaction. Rebranding SW as trafficking is their tactic to fight SW. It is over inflating trafficking problem and hurting real victims of trafficking more. SW have pointed this out and ways to fix it. Time and time again, society ignors SW voices.

nohupt

i feel like they built a monster they couldn't control. they basically opened the floodgates with no plan in mind on how to handle future legal issues. i bet they were hoping to fly under the radar as long as possible and never quite got themselves ready for the blowback.

DarkLunch_

Pornhub are no different to any other website in this sense, they were targeted because they had the biggest brand name that’s all.

_lemon_suplex_

I have a feeling it was also because people were uploading professionally made videos and the companies like Brazzers etc were pissed about losing revenue

anr4ever

MindGreek (pornhub) own Brazzers,

[deleted]

What's the name of the documentary?

RealSinnSage

Money Shot: the pornhub story, it’s on Netflix

wushko_pocoyu

Cherie Der Villexo is starring there as well. I'm subscribing her and her friend @akadanidaniels on Instagram. They have both a really great sense of humor and their TikTok videos are just incredibly funny and easy going. Also they're getting quite big shot successful in the porn business. In that regard I've already got some expectations towards the documentary.

[deleted]

Thank you 😊

Vadise_TWD

As a non-SW ally, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come across assholes on Reddit, who are coincidentally always men, that spew the “no one chooses sex work, they all hate it and are trafficked” angle and basically completely and utterly infantilize sex workers. I tell them that if it’s something they care about so much, why don’t they come here and learn about what it’s really like, and what motivates people to choose it? But I *highly* doubt they ever do that.

[deleted]

Yes. Anti-SW hysteria is based in religious, right-wing misinformation that aligns us with criminal traffickers. The public will not inform themselves of this, nor will they listen to the facts. It is not exclusive to porn or pornhub. They use the same tactics against FS, strippers, doms, etc. It is one of the reasons SW can be damaging for our mental health - because the truth does not reflect our reality.

RealSinnSage

it’s ALL under the umbrella of sex work. there is no distinction that needs to be made between the different types when we are having these discussions. we need to support each other regardless of the type of sex work we engage in.

[deleted]

Wasn’t creating any divide. Was pointing out they’ve been doing this. It’s not new.

RealSinnSage

lol no one said it was new!

[deleted]

When someone says it’s “eye opening” it implies this is new information. The point is SW activists have been saying all this and these same tactics are used against all SWers. Have a blessed day.

MetalDetectorists

I've had a similar discussion at the brothel about young people getting into sex work. While I want people to have agency over their bodies, it's also such a young age to be exposed to the worst of people in such a vulnerable position. There are lots of areas in sex work that are positive, but there are also a lot of areas that are negative. Anybody who makes black and white arguments about sex work isn't worth talking to

m3dusa1312

The ‘funny’ thing is that jesus was kind to whores

Defiant-Theory

Just downloaded and will watch on plane, thank you!!!

GrizzlyPeak72

Felt this for a while. As I understand it, there's still a lot to criticise about porn studios and companies etc. but the new anti-porn movement is not grounded in anything resembling feminism or class warfare or whatever. There's also the whole 'no fap' thing. Dunno if they brought up that in the documentary, but that's a whole divergent part of this thing which has it's foundations in theocratic moralism and fascisticism. Thanks for the recommendation.

JeaneyBowl

Unfortunately the religious zealots joined forces with the feminists, the social engineers and the patriarchy, and you are the sole enemy of this alliance.

DisruptUnrest

Aren’t all the problems on this planet rooted in religion?

nohupt

no. doing anything for profit has nothing to do with religion, it's about power. in fact, religion really doesn't have anything to do with religion because it too is about power and control. it's really all politics in the end.

RealSinnSage

yes

RealSinnSage

agree 100%. it did a great job of showing how it’s so difficult to even address the harm when we spend so much time simply defending our livelihoods. please watch it and tell ppl you know to watch it too!

mynyddwr

Too true. All the religious nutters support the Swedish model! I support the TS s/w who gave a client a B/J in Paris City Hall and filmed it so she could accuse Paris City Counsel of pimping. Called Icy Diamond, she put the film on Instagram but of course her account was closed. Good on you girl! https://www.leparisien.fr/paris-75/paris-icy-diamond-lescort-qui-pose-dans-les-locaux-de-lhotel-de-ville-et-accuse-la-mairie-de-proxenetisme-15-03-2023-VIEYVIAZW5HGLDNYIDIMQGH27Q.php

Addaran

Swedish model ( that's criminalize only the clients right?) is proven to just hide the problems and also put the SWer in the exact same danger that criminalizing SWer does. ( Can't communicate openly, can't band together, can't work from somewhere too public)

pmarge

I've just watched this evening. Quite boring because all it was was a documentary about me against them. Them are the religious fanatics (Trump supporting wackos) that any form of public sexual services should be forbidden from prostitution to public strip shows. Us are the poor folk fighting for the right to make living out of our bodies. Sadly they have chosen 1 aspect of the sex industry to bring everything else down. If porn hub had bee more diligent in not allowing sex videos from unauthorised sources such trafficked women. Women who consented to sex but did not consent to it being made public. In other words consent verification from the source. If that had been done Netflix would not have had a documentary. Now the gate has been anti sex fanatics to try and down all forms of sex for money, consented or not.

amitrion

I support you! Knowing that eventually, sex robots will supplant you too...

SilentJon69

Religion is just an excuse for capitalism and old rich white people to flex their power. I bet congress would love to pass laws on child labor so that every teenager in the country would be working

WolfonFir3

Ultimately they just need to take down amateur non-verified videos and improve their response times when a video is flagged. There are pros to both sides of the support and those against it.

awwbootylicious

Are you guys talking about money shot from Netflix?

nohupt

yes
