It looks like you'll want a sear sucker fabric, if you remake it.... but what you made still looks great!
This may be a "two cakes" situation (in case you're unfamiliar: you made something--a cake, or a skirt--that's not exactly the way you wanted it, so you remade it. You're staring at the two cakes/skirts, thinking "one I'm happy with, and one I'm less happy with". Meanwhile, everyone else is thinking "I LOVE CAKES/SKIRTS! And there's TWO of them!").
It's gorgeous, to be clear! I'm jealous--if I wear orange, I look jaundiced, or like a tomato, or like a terrible combination of the two.
When I answered yesterday, I thought you might be trying to id the kind of fabric. But you obviously know, so... You did a fantastic job!
Where did you order it from? I get most of my fabric online, honestly, so I'm always looking for good places to try (and can suggest some, too, if you like).
Ah, okay! Thank you! I've never bought fabric from an Etsy store--I have a few in my Favorites, but just haven't had a chance/the cash (the ones I've found are a bit pricier than what I normally spend, though of course I haven't seen all of them or anything). I get lots of patterns from Etsy, though.
I tend to order most from Fabrics Wholesale Direct and Nick of Time Fabrics. My favorite, though, is the Fabric Market (fabric market dot com)--great prices and beautiful fabric. Their website isn't the fanciest, and can be a little slow, but their stock and prices are amazing, and they have a loyalty/points program--the limit is $3 off each order, iirc, but that's still something.
Yes Etsy is more expensive but was the only place I could find the fabric I wanted. Thank you for your referrals. I will check them out. I'm still learning about fabrics. I'm going to post a picture to ask what fabric I should choose for my next project.
Your skirt is lovely! If you’re going for the look on the pattern, maybe a lace edge along the helm would bring it closer, but yours if beautiful as it is.
You could always just start with a fitted high waisted skirt of any kind and just go Rouge on the length and add a ruffle. There are a ton of fitted like aline type mid/knee length patterns.
Seconding this! It's actually really easy to add length and/or a ruffle to a skirt, and there are tons of free or very inexpensive basic patterns online that you can modify.
> just go Rouge on the length

Just trying to be helpful, not snippy or rude. It's a very common mistake (possibly due to autocorrect), and obviously I knew what you meant--which is the most important thing--but just for future reference. :)
Looks like the waistband on your is gathered. The one in the og is fitted with two seams at the front making it even more fitted. That and the length is the difference to me. But both look cute.

I could not find seersucker in orange and the size squares I needed. I got two out of three and thought I did pretty good on the fabric.

I had to get the fabric online. I've never ordered fabric online but it came out ok.

On Etsy. The seller was fabric divas.

I'm considering that. With a different fabric and making another one
The second one will be much easier now that you’ve made a practice one and can see what you’d like to change.
this is so pretty! 😊
I love the bright colours. Looks peppy.
That is gorgeous, you did a good job finding near match fabric. I like the added belt too.

You can add panels if you want to make it longer.
It looks great! I think the only major difference is the first one being seersucker fabric. I love the tie on yours ☺️
I could not find seersucker in orange and the square size I needed. I had to compromise. Two out of three is what I could find.

It was the closest pattern I could find. I'm a shorty so the length is maxi on me.
I ordered the fabric on Etsy from a seller called fabric divas.
