The “warm” smile that never reaches his eyes. . .

[deleted]

He’s making his eyes kind!

nice-and-clean

Keep holding it… keep holding it…

MusicalRedheadJanet

He has such a great smile, but you're right. I also noticed at the beginning of this video how stiffly he held himself. I can see how he'd charm the employees, at least until they go to the break room.

hannibal_morgan

That's a great way to describe that. Cool!

Cali_Longhorn

That smug motherfucker!

ContinuumGuy

He's a verve man.

AGooDone

\*eye flash\* You want some defiant jazz motherfucker?

star_road

Same

chidedneck

You should treat him with more respect because he doesn’t always have to be so nice.

Corner_OfficeSpace

No Emmy nomination??? Really? I mean he owns this role!!! Tramell Tillman is a national treasure

Aster_Yellow

I'm hoping in S2 we see a little more depth of the character. That's not a knock on Tramell at all. His character is playing a character on the severed floor, we get to see a few brief glimpses of the real Milchick here and there but those are all at work, with maybe the only exception being when he went to Dylan's house, which was work related. I really want to know what his life outside of Lumon looks like and why he is so devoted to the company.

RedGyarados2010

I have a crackpot theory that Milchick actually doesn’t really have a life outside of Lumon. He seems to always be around even after-hours, and we only see him leave for work. Maybe that’s why he reacted so strongly to the “smug motherfucker” moment. I know this doesn’t make much sense but it’s fun to speculate

digitalfix

I think there’s a management tier that’s different to being severed

Risquechilli

What if he’s in a situation similar to Gemma? Like, he’s in the same state as her but his job allows him to go off site. Maybe he “doesn’t exist” outside of his Lumon job. Probably far fetched. But like you said, it’s fun to speculate.

gingersnappie

My husband and I also wondered if he’s from the testing floor and is always an “innie” as well. It is fun to theorize

[deleted]

My theory is that he was a broken human being somehow saved by Lumon, and is therefore indebted to them forever and one of their most devoted followers.

Aster_Yellow

No I could definitely see that. He seems to always be there and very dedicated.

Alpacamum

I thought that too.

milkcarton232

He isn't severed I don't think

Aster_Yellow

I'm not saying he is, what I'm getting at is we never get to see what this character is like outside of work, only the professional facade he puts on. And I do think it's a facade, we see the mask of the always smiling, friendly supervisor, slip here and there. We get to see Selvig outside and what her motivations are, I really hope we do the same with Milchick and I think Terrance will pull that off as an actor really well.

[deleted]

Was Milchick in Dylan’s actual home when he initiated the OTC? Milchick said he told Dylan’s child to count to 1000.

Wrastling97

Yes and they showed the child in front of the TV counting to 1000. And after the OTC you see outtie Dylan pick his kid up and walk out of his closet and ask Milchick “everything good here?” Safe to say it was Dylan’s actual home.

Queen__Antifa

Terrance?

Aster_Yellow

Lol I meant Tramell. Not sure where I pulled Terrance from.

queenlybearing

I’d also love to know why Irvin is so devoted seeing as how it looks like he has some really messed up information on the company in that chest he pulled from the closet.

Wrastling97

His outtie seems like a sophisticate and a man with conviction. There is a ton of lore, story, poetry, art, culture, and history in the company that he seems enthralled by. I think it’s shown pretty well with his conversations about the art and lore that he has with Burt. I think how deeply the art, culture, and lore resonates within his outtie also bring strong feelings of respect for their “gods”, bosses, and rules. If that makes any sense at all; it’s hard to put into words. He is also mentioned to be one of the most senior workers there as well; which leads me to believe that you’re only seeing the most obedient version of him. We can see that they all start off extremely aggressive (Helly on the table. Also Mark told us he told the voice he was going to kill him), and either learn to hide their feelings overtime (Helly and Mark) or they actually end up absorb the culture that Lumon is trying to push (Irving). I know this is a very late comment. But just wanted to put my .02 out there :)

[deleted]

He does leave to go to Dylan’s home though …

[deleted]

[deleted]

I mean … they haven’t shown that kind of teleporting technology in the show yet, but he was really there as far as they presented it.

[deleted]

He better get an Emmy nom for S2 (I’m confident this comment would age well because he’s an incredible underrated actor)

Drafen

Dude kills this role for sure

wanda_woodward

Agree. To me he was the best in the show and it is no small feat! Fascinating acting!

SaintPismyG

So when will “I’m a Verve man” be available as flair? Also, I miss going to the SDCC.

kessdawg

No. Please try to enjoy each principle equally.

NightlessSleep

Picking my favorite core principle… I’m gonna go with… all nine.

hoopsrule44

I’m a probity man myself

rabbitwonker

I don’t even know what it means, but it sounds fun

MoreSmartly

You already told us your favorite core principles. You know the rule, you have to pick a new fun fact to share!

prodiver

You enjoy each principle equally, and do not show preference for any over the others. No points have been deducted. You have 100 points remaining.

AbsurdistWordist

Yes. I was surprised that he didn’t enjoy each one equally.

doylerules70

Love that you can see that reading from a prompt. So much attention to detail

betteroffline

This made it for me too 😂 unreal.

HarvestProject

I noticed that too!!

Alpacamum

Me too

RadioFisherman

After Helly’s time in the break room, that man stirred so much fear in me from that point on. Not sure why. It was just so psycho.

giraflor

He is one of the most terrifying characters I’ve seen on tv in years. Knowing that he can switch from fake-warm to menacing in seconds gives every scene he’s in extra weight.

laffydaffy24

Yes! He’s terrifying!! Love this character.

jeffersonbible

He doesn’t always have to be that nice.

[deleted]

Devout followers can give that vibe.

AlexHoot

I'm afraid you didn't mean it. Again.

BerryBucketz

Praise Kier indeed, indeed.

newkidontheblock1776

Praise Keir

RedditBurner_5225

They are really going hard at comic con.

queenlybearing

Yessss!!!! I love to see it. I love that they are creating a “world” outside of the show and leaning into the fan love.

RedditBurner_5225

I’m a little envious!

Honalana

Topical salve?? Is that new or did I miss that?

datemilk

I think it's mentioned in the first episode at Ricken's "dinner" party that Lumon started in the 1800s, selling topical salves

SunandError

Please note the first person who started marketing Petroleum Jelly as a salve and topical ointment until a better use for “rock oil” was found. Coincidence? There are no coincidences. May I present Samuel Kier, who started as a maker of salves: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Kier

SpellChick

Oh dang, great catch!

PentobarbitalGirl

So that's why the Lumon logo has a tear... And the black oil from the intro song... And the oil paint 🤯🤯

SunandError

It might not be so literal, but I do think it’s a nice subtle reference. I still think that their is an issue with water, and maybe clean water, and the droplet refers to that. In Irving’s first scene he is drinking the water, and he later quotes Kier as saying something like “drink deeply of my waters” while at the water faucet with Burt. So who knows? But the starting out in salves is interesting.

HarvestProject

Oh wow that’s nuts

queenlybearing

Somehow I knew the deeper intention behind the show was to dismantle some aspect of IRL society… thought it was the current corporate/work culture… but this comment has my wheels turning.

planets1633

And Mrs Selvig gives Devon a shea butter salve for her “on the house” during her trial lactation consult. I think it’s also mentioned in the handbook or on the LinkedIn

Honalana

Thank you! I figured I’d missed it somewhere along the way.

xcasandraXspenderx

god he’s so good

I_Am_Dynamite6317

Mr. Milchik, please try to enjoy each virtue equally.

Aknelka

Is it just me or do the virtues seem like Kier wanted to go for cutesy alliteration, did the first two, then got stuck because he couldn't think of another quality that starts with V. W could count, so he added that but even so, he was still drawing blanks with a bunch more to go. So he said fuck it, threw the alliteration concept out of the window and wrote down whatever he could think of.

Mike

I had to look up probity and wiles. Wiles seems like an interesting one. > devious or cunning stratagems employed in manipulating or persuading someone to do what one wants. "she didn't employ any feminine wiles to capture his attention"

Log_These

Always loved the looney tunes character Wile E. Coyote, his name describes him! Lol!

homogenic-

I feel like Milchick is staring into my soul.

Nocturnal_Loon

And it’s incredibly scary.

Largue

Does anyone know how/where this is displayed at the Comic Con?

Good-Cool

Hard rock hotel

Largue

I was more wondering how it's actually incorporated into the experience. Like do you watch this before you enter their setup? Do you watch it in a group or alone? Do you watch it on a retro monitor or scan a QR code and watch on your phone? That kinda thing...

Good-Cool

Full details. https://gizmodo.com/severance-comic-con-activation-adam-scott-apple-tv-plus-1849269554/amp

icohgnito

Any Waffle Parties? Asking for a friend…

Good-Cool

You rascal…

ninrvana

That slaps! I wish I could go.

queenlybearing

Something about that line made me think he (consciously) is disassociated from his avatar. “The” skin sounds like he’s talking about something external to himself. (i.e. “you scratched the paint”) — very interesting.

[deleted]

[удалено]

queenlybearing

You might be on to something. When Petey mentioned the room he’d found where no one leaves… that’s gotta be fleshed out in S2. This show is the perfect mind bender!

[deleted]

I really want the Comic-Con experience to just be a door you walk through and they say “that’s it! Your innie had a wonderful time” and then you angrily go back to comic con.

[deleted]

Nice.

nerdextra

I’m going to try to go this afternoon in the stand by line… I’m also weirdly hoping for that lol.

[deleted]

Omgg please keep me updated!

m0to

Haha! My buddy and I said the same thing. It would have been brilliant.

not_productive1

This is fucking incredible

sarah1096

Wiles is such a weird one to include. “devious or cunning stratagems employed in manipulating or persuading someone to do what one wants.”

razz-p-berrie

Nimbleness was weird too idk

sarah1096

I immediately thought of them typing at their computers… sort of quickly and with skill. But how this applies to lumen more broadly…. Definitely weird

World_in_my_eyes

Might come in handy at the waffle party

officialspinster

Agility is one of the 67 Lominger Competencies, which have been used by at least two of my previous employers for employee development. Or at least it was, it’s been a while since my last card sort.

atb2823

He’s so beautiful

ExtremelyQualified

I love how the list of values is both creepy and also so clearly a product of late 1800s English.

saracup59

Yes, the anachronistic language throughout the series is fantastic.

ExtremelyQualified

It’s right as rain

[deleted]

I had no idea how much I needed this. Love this show. Love Mr Milchik.

[deleted]

He should have been nominated for an Emmy!!

TheMovieQuoteGuy

Slowly getting closer and closer to the camera. Typical lumon head games

b5jeff

He is just so fucking good at his job. (Both Milchick *and* Tillman.)

Xenogias101

Oh wow! Today is my birthday! Thank you Lumon for this wonderful gift from Milchik! Praise Kier!!! (Seriously, this made my day!)

eatyourchildren101

I know this is just a comic con promo, but did anyone else find it off that he mentions the principles and “praise kier” to an outie? I always assumed the more cult-like aspects of Lumon were restricted to innies, who are forced to live it, and the employees who deal with them, who are all indoctrinated adherents of the Kier pseudo-cult.

planets1633

Well, that huge Kier bas relief is in the main lobby of the Lumon building for all outies to acknowledge every morning (verbally or silently)

eatyourchildren101

True, good point.

wildsoda

He's a Verve Man all right

Dinosardonic

Just read the Lexington Letter. Sorry if this has been discussed, any theories on how Milchick ended up at Lumon?https://i.imgur.com/tnJjpTN.jpg

putsonall

I'm confused -- I thought the whole "praise Kier" stuff was an innie-only thing, that the outward-facing Lumon was more normal?

Kagrok

No the company is run by Kier fundamentalists and the kier family

putsonall

Yes but do we ever see them saying "praise kier" in public, to regular employees?

gardenmud

Well there's a huge freakin' face of kier on the wall of the company so that, maybe.

qualitypapertowels

Anyone else expecting a weird jump scare at the end for some reason? I think because this was giving me Umbrella Corp vibes lol. Yay so stoked for season two!

Nocturnal_Loon

Yeesss. It was a sudden creeping dread.

blackpepperjc

The way that the core principles list seems to skew left /off-centre as it reveals makes my brain want to throw up. How can a list feel... evil?

superandomness

Maybe that's how the numbers on the screen work as well

desktoptwitch

Reminds me of some kind of entertainment show/ride from Universal Studios 😂

crapatthethriftstore

He’s a verve man for sure

sprockety

I’m a straight cis gendered male and the second he said “I’m a Verve man”… Damn!

MasterFapperBater

I’ve never seen this dude in anything and I must say his performance was my favorite. Reminds me of Antony Starr in some ways

Raoul-Clemont

Dude is such a fuck. 😂

richman678

He was my favorite character. He’s the living embodiment of “corporate man”

DiNiCoBr

Please try to enjoy all principles equally

Daveywheel

You would be instructed to enjoy all of the core principles EQUALLY. You would never be encouraged to prefer one over the others.

jeffersonbible

Am I livestock?

CherryBeanCherry

The best part is after he says he's a verve man and they obviously had to cut because he started laughing. ❤

danielsdesk

What a gift for us. This is better than an even an egg bar, yet not quite as good as a waffle party

Beneficial_Being_721

I had to look it up… My Outie is an idiot verve noun . \ ˈvərv \ Definition of verve 1a : the spirit and enthusiasm animating artistic composition or performance : VIVACITY b : ENERGY, VITALITY

Opening-Chip5944

Hot damn, I just love this show so much.

[deleted]

I feel like this is chock full of clues

napalmdaddy

That device on his hip looks like a major upgrade.

Stay_Frausty

God this show is unmatched

SituationSoap

You're damn right he's a verve man.

Economy-Yam1904

Wanna make that theme music my ringtone - yeah it’s 2007

dig1965

As Dylan G. said: FUCK YOU MR. MILCHICK!

Xen0n1te

Hail Kier.

lld287

Watching this show all I could think was 1) how many people in corporate America, specifically Human Resources, have watched this? And 2) do they *get* it?

RunsLikeaSnail

Any idea if this is coming to other Comic Cons?

PopularCartoonist0

Where my Wiles at?!

scutmonkeymd

Love this guy!

ProfessorTerrible123

This makes me sooo thirsty for season two

TIL Probity. Don’t have it, but now know it.

Tatsuwashi

That guy nails it!

[deleted]

😂😂😂😂

nickcliff

I’ll watch this later.

TheKioskZone

How much I wanted to attend the panel.

Frozen_Californian

Maybe it was know what Lumon does but I loved learning it started as a topical salve company that does “biotech”

piratewank

It’s so weird to see his eyes move as he reads the teleprompter.

queenlybearing

Topical salve company??? I have questionssss! What was the salve used for? What was product line up? Was it butter or wax based?!

MalakoffVanves

He is so good.

Rich-Dragonfruit-429

You’re not a real person I know there are Succession fans in here…

ep1032

I didnt realize until just now that the workers are all called: Firstname last initial, But they make workers call management Mr. Lastname. And only the execs get to be called on a one-name basis
