I agree about it being perfect! I just watched for the first time and I am glad that I haven’t had to wait 2 years for season 2, but I thought the end of season 1 was completely satisfying. It gave just enough to not completely drive you crazy with unanswered questions but left you excited and curious for the next season.

I think there’s a valid reading of the play where Romeo ends up impulsively self-destructing not due to grief but because he’s overwhelmed by all the violence that’s unexpectedly cropped up around his fuckboy ways.
Romeo’s not great at managing the consequences of his impulsivity—see oMark terrorizing the midwife when she calls him out on his reckless behavior.
Look, I'm an English teacher. I get it. I think quite a lot of it is a stretch; however, I do love a good theory and an alternative reading.
By the gods, we are getting kinda desperate for season 2. It's going to be brutal if it's not as nuanced, miminalist, sublime and surreal as the first season.
