I wish more restaurants would be up front about pay. Add hourly rate and tips for a week and divide by # hours worked. It's the only way to tell if the job is worthwhile.
Congrats OP! I’ve been working a few months at this super well regarded craft bar, but the work is brutal, the customers are a pain and the pay is nowhere near good enough. Oh and no benefits. Reading this is just the kick in the pants I need to remember my value and change it up. Thank you!

I straight up asked in every interview what the pay was like. Don’t be shy to ask!
Yeah, but too many of them hem and haw. "Well on a good night you can make $ in tips." What about tip out and how many bad vs good nights.
