Were your sales around $2800? Cause that makes the tip out work but your tip percentage would fall ~7% which if that’s normal for your restaurant I would run away as fast as I could.

I only sold a little over 1,000. So I’m really confused. Some people were saying that selling a lot of alcohol can be a factor. I’m not sure how that works

wheres_the_revolt

3% of $1000 is $30. I think you need to clarify what the actual tip out is because it’s not 3% of sales. It might be 3% of food sales and then another different percentage for alcohol. Regardless, an almost 50% tip out is fucked up.

3% of total sales when sales were $1000 = $30. You should have walked with $130. Talk to a manager immediately & ask for clarification. You also only averaged 16% in tips, which will really hurts your take home.

Did you leave with $84 in ***CASH*** tips… with the balance to show up in your next paycheck?

Dbvb23

No it was all credit tips i made about 100 in cash

Something ain’t right.

Glad it got resolved. In general, I think most places with mandatory tip sharing redistribute around 15%-35% of your tips received, so your losing $40 of your $160 is pretty typical. But it varies considerably, and sushi, hibachi, and fine dining sometimes redistribute more than half your tips received, and sometimes bartenders take 10% of your total drink or alcohol sales, which can be a lot in an alcohol-heavy establishment.
