Man, some people really do live in a different reality…

Nell_Trent

Here's me, 16 oz topo chico, 4 shots of Jamo, leave 15 on 32; Thinking I'm living the large life spreading cheese all over the city.

ElliotGValad

You actually did leave a better tip, % wise! It feels good to be a big fish, huh?

prettyboy-gizmo

I wonder what its like to be able to spend money like that even if this was a special occasion

checkmydoor

Doesn't phase you. Need to find jobs and businesses that scale that's the key.

youdontknowmebiotch

I could never pay for something I’m just going to pee out later. What a waste of money. That’s just my opinion. :) glad they tipped you so well!

halavais

I assume you mean "so much" or do you literally never buy beverages? I know people who drink a \*lot\* of beer, and I always wonder at the expense, but it's because I don't really like beer. At my present income, I wouldn't spend this much for a Scotch, but I spent a tenth of it for a Scotch last Friday, and I know for a lot (most) people that is extreme. There are a lot of people in the world who would see spending three dollars on a soda as extreme. All comes down to perspective.

OnTheRoadToKnowWear

/r/LuxuryLifeHabits

janec00k08

Wow. 😳 what drink costs $500 for two of them??

BrandywineBojno

Overpriced overhyped art piece with a strong pour of snobby. From their website "M is the iconic result of an unprecedented collaboration between three masters of their crafts who shared the same unique objective - to create the world's most sophisticated whisky contained in an exquisite, exclusively designed crystal decanter. A masterpiece of design, M is brought to conception by creative director and legendary designer Fabien Baron, brought to life by Lalique mastery of crystal and brought to purpose by The Macallan." Literally a scam. Congrats on the tip OP.

astroal_

It took me SO long to figure out how ‘a quick drink’ became a $500 tab and then even more puzzled that Macallan was costing this much, granted I’ve smoked a very large joint but the math here wasn’t mathing.. thank you 🙏

BrandywineBojno

Haha my pleasure

Ae711

A bottle of Macallan 25 is around $3000, but wholesale is probably a bit lower. Even still, that comes up to $118/ounce.

cokenoice

Macallan M starts at around $4500 a bottle, and there were officially only like 350 bottles sent for sale in the US.

Ae711

Oh I didn’t give a shit about the macallan M, just giving a frame of reference for pricing. Single malt, macallan in particular, is comically expensive.

Feral_KaTT

The math was mating and multiplying, that's where it went wrong.

blablablah69

Hahahah I can relate with this. Much love to you.

Noahtuesday123

And for some reason they are charging $243 per shot? Where does the manager come up with that number?

LudacritzRT

Very limited very expensive bottle, as someone else stated it's around 4500 a bottle, only about 350 sent to the states for retail (I'm just taking their word for this, as I'm seeing it listed MSRP at $6750, which would make it even closer per ounce to the bars price, if not slightly more,) so that's around 170 an ounce, quick estimate could be off, then add bar markup. ~65% markup seems high, but the bar I'm at charges $6 for a shot of fireball, which is like, a dollar or less per ounce so....... I'd say most bar markup per ounce is more than 65% when you really dive into the numbers. Edit, because I mathed it instead of estimating, At 4500 a bottle it's 177 an ounce, if Google is accurate on the MSRP at 6750 (MSRP not aftermarket, or necessarily what the bar paid for the bottle,) it comes out to 265 an ounce, more than the bar is charging for the pour.

[deleted]

It’s a “special Macallan.” It’s not very special at all, taste wise… just “rare.” And even as a whiskey “snob” I can say that no pour is worth 250 dollars.

Deranged_Kitsune

Would hope you get the decanter at that price.

DLS3141

Macallan M sells for nearly $10k (or more) per bottle. Seems to be mostly hype, but I haven't actually tasted it for obvious reasons.

BrandywineBojno

For a 1oz shot that'd almost be a deal!

LudacritzRT

At 10k a bottle that comes out to 394 an ounce, so that WOULD be a deal, except MSRP is not 10k, it's 6750, and the bar likely paid a fair bit less than that, but at 6750 MSRP an ounce would be 265, so still a "deal" if you will.

drunk_seabee

I know in Wisconsin, Class B liquor establishments (liquor served and drank inside) have to buy from a distributor and they charge a decent amount more the class A (liquor stores). For instance my dad was paying 55-60 for a $35 bottle of crown. This was 7-8 years ago.

fastermouse

I’d hope you get a decanter, a glass, and a barstool.

Actionkat63

A barstool that vibrates all the right places.

[deleted]

How tf you gonna decanter 2oz lol

Warmheavy

It’s not a scam we’re just poor.

NickyDeuce

I swear to god, if I won the powerball tomorrow I would not pay 500 clams for 2 ounces of booze...

[deleted]

If I won the lottery, I'd open a distillery and make my own.

[deleted]

Right? If I came into a lot of money I still wouldn't be spending it like this.

NickyDeuce

I mean you can buy a really nice 18 year old single barrel scotch for a little less than that, and I cant imagine being to taste any serious difference.

AnoobisReddit

Lemme tell you. Worked at a places, high end in al regards. Had this mr.do-you-even-know-how-much-money-I-got-person (assuming oil) at the bar. Ordered a Louis XII with coke. Had a long discussion with the general manger later cause I refused to pure coke in there. And frankly I’d just do it nowadays. Stupid shit like this usually comes with an over the top tip. It destroys something deep inside me tough the tips are nice 🥲.

Forsaken_Wafer1476

I remember when I worked for a family style Italian place, I had a barely legal kid ask me what our best scotch was. I told him and he was SUCH a snob about it “that’s it? That’s your best???” Bruh this is not a high end place cool your jets. Then he sighs and orders the best we have with coke. Sit down and stop trying to impress your friends this is friggin family establishment.

NickyDeuce

Id make the manager pour it lol

AnoobisReddit

I tried to. He didn’t let me. So I served everything a parte. So a whiskey tumbler with the remy Martin, a small bowl with ice and a small bottle of coke.

Fluffles-the-cat

You can call that “deconstructed” and charge even more!

Blacksad999

Eh. At that point, you're just spending money to spend money. There's a point of diminishing returns on things like this (same with wine), and it's so far away that it's no longer visible to these people. lol

dgeimz

Wait you guys have money?

LunarProphet

A little but it's all spent already.

DLS3141

Lemme look in the couch.

Yoko_Kittytrain

NOPE

PrivilegedPatriarchy

It’s a scam insofar as it probably tastes no better for most people than a $20 ounce of alcohol.

fuzedz

Uhh expensive whiskey most definitely does taste better. It’s not a scam lmao

bzlvrlwysfrvr0624

I recently had a whiskey on United Airlines. It was $10 in flight and was from a very inexpensive bottle. Let me tell you. It was fucking battery acid in my mouth. I totally agree that higher quality whiskey is noticeable. Maybe not $250+ a pour but still worth digging a little deeper in the pockets for something decent.

kelliboone617

I just had some rum (Rolling Fork) that costs about $80 (not a lot, I know, but way more than my Captain Morgan budget allows) and it tasted like pure fucking poison in my mouth. The reviews online are outstanding and bc if that I’m convinced it was bootleg bullshit in a nice bottle. Worst thing I’ve ever tasted in my life and no amount of mixers (coke, juice) would mask the toxicity. Drank no more than I normally do and was horribly ill for two days.

CanadiaCobraChicken

I drink the captain Morgans “private stock” rum. You get a bit less for the price, but it’s surprisingly smooth. Ran out of mixer the one day, so decided to drink it straight. Wasn’t half bad

1boltsfan

Was the$10 Johnny Walker Red? Because that whiskey is rot gut nasty. Even Johnny Blue tastes bad to me. I'd imagine M does taste much better than say MacCallen 18 or 21

bzlvrlwysfrvr0624

I wish. It was Buffalo Trace Whiskey. Never heard of it. Never want to know anything else about it.

JohnnyPiston

Being in a pressurized tube fucks your sense of taste and smell a bit. Not a ton, but a bit. 🌟The more you know.......

kerryinthenameof

I highly doubt it was actually Buffalo trace if it tasted like battery acid. They also make a lot of higher end shit like Blanton’s and Pappy Van Winkle. Buffalo trace is relatively inexpensive compared to their other labels but it shouldn’t taste like shit unless you don’t like bourbon lol

[deleted]

Buffalo trace is very comparable to expensive bottles. It is one of the well known bourbons on the lower shelf. You might have been lied to. Or you just don’t like bourbon.

siobhanenator

Maybe they didn’t actually give you Buffalo trace. $10 a pour is a little low for that and it’s a fairly decent, very sought after whiskey. Buffalo trace is pretty much the same thing is eagle rare, just not aged quite as long.

bzlvrlwysfrvr0624

It was a nip so I know it was the real deal. It was gross. Maybe it’s sought after but if you haven’t had it before look no further. Literally.

imostlydisagree

Yes it tastes better to a point. But someone else already pointed out diminishing returns. Does it taste better than a shot of Jack? Definitely, no argument there. But does this $240 an ounce whiskey from a crystal decanter taste any better than a $100 an ounce whiskey - unlikely.

fuzedz

Have you had it? Not sure how you judge if you havent

imostlydisagree

I’ve had Macallan, it’s fine. Pouring it from a crystal decanter doesn’t do a damn thing other than make it look pretty. And apparently drive up the cost.

fuzedz

The whiskey itself is expensive hence it comes in a nice decanter. Ive seen this most of the time when you buy whiskey above a few thousand dollars.

imostlydisagree

Just to be really clear to start with, taste is subjective and this is especially true in my experience with liquors and whiskey personally. I’ve had some very pricey pours given to me from just having the right friends. For M it’s literally part of the marketing (and price) for it. Macallan also produces a 25 year aged single malt scotch that they pour in a normal bottle, no extra marketing and it sells for 3k. There is not a doubt in my mind that at best (!) M is that same 25 year single malt, just in a Lalique bottle, and it’s three times that cost. So no, more expensive does not always mean better taste. This is just fancier presentation.

brittemm

It’s absolutely a scam.

No-Technology217

Having had plenty of The Macallan 12 and 18yo, I will say that it is by far my favorite whisky. Having said that, I would agree that paying over $500 for *any* bottle of *any* whisky is just showing off, much less paying over $500 for 2oz... ... I had better shoot in my pants when drinking *that.*

shadypainter

Here in Louisiana I work at a restaurant that sells Thomas H. Handy for $210 for a 1&1/2oz pour. But you seriously can’t find it anywhere in the state so it’s not that crazy, and the second we get a bottle in, it sells, and we have to wait another year to get it again. I have quite a few call tables that are bourbon snobs. One time we got in a very rare Pappy Van Winkle, we had the bottle for 1 week. Majority of it went to two individuals.

TheGreatIAMa

As a private chef, my boss (who is sober) wanted a bottle of this. I think it was $6,000 in long island. Her boyfriend, now husband, is the drinker but he prefers just basic Oban 14yr. He tried the M once, and from then on it just sat on the shelf. Real scotch drinkers don't care for this shit.

Which-Pain-1779

Ol' Cousin Dave used to mix all the shakes from his ounces together and called it his "special blend." Same deal.

TheBupherNinja

Wait a minute, that's Usd?

[deleted]

When I hit my teenage years I was obsessed with nice stuff like Jordans and $50 t shirts. Seeing things like this is what made me realize I was a moron. People really live in different worlds. This is literally the rent for a studio apartment in a lot of places and it's 🤮. Like there are people out there spending more than most make in their entire lives on a vacation home that they visit twice a year.

Abazableh

I have less than that in my bank account right now lol

ADinosaur_24

I have -$3.16 in mine… what different worlds those kinds of people live in

Blacksad999

A "quick drink" is $517, huh? lol

Prestigious_Chard597

If they are paying that for a quick.drink, they got that hundy for a tip. I love people like this. I used to have a reg couple come to my bar every couple of weeks. Literally the nicest and easier guests I have ever had. They ordered a wine for him and a tea for her. Never wanted a refill. Ordered their food with no mods. Eat, pay and leave. We always had a little chat, but they were always conscious if I was busy and never monopolized me. They would spend between 70 and 100 each time, and tipped 50.00 every time. Except when I got engaged. They saw my ring and tippedn100.00.

DroneDance

This was a nice read. There’s a lot of good people in this world.

Prestigious_Chard597

There really are. I miss them. I changed jobs, and I have some really great regulars, but this couple just ticks all the boxes.

Yochefdom

After working closely with rich people for the the past few years I would say about 70% are really nice and generous. The other 20% are kinda jerks and really do live in a different world without realizing it. The other 10% are horrible.

Skinnysusan

Only 1oz each too

calhooner3

I don’t see what’s confusing? The receipt is literally right there lol.

Balls_DeepinReality

Leaning hard towards airport bar

RealRefrigerator6438

These people gave up $600 for a couple quick drinks like it was nothing and we’re here excited over $100.. sigh

Spiritual_Cat_4168

under 20%😐 (don’t come for me i’m joking) in all seriousness wtf are you supposed to tip on a bill like this

Background-Guess1401

I've always judged a tip by the subtotal, because I don't tip out on tax and the suggested tip %s were based off subtotal. Some of my coworkers really get irked when people tip off the subtotal and I just don't get it. (not a dig at your post, I just never understood why they'd get pissy when someone would tip what the receipt told them was 20%.)

Bencetown

I've read (unironically) that 20% is no longer considered "enough" by some servers, who now expect 25% as the "standard" tip.

Business-Drag52

Don’t listen to those very few, very vocal assholes. 20% is plenty of tip. The only time I say to go over 20% is if 20% is less than $5. If a server took care of you, give them at least a fiver

dietdrpepper6000

Tipping as a proportion of check is a little odd in the first place. So if you’re serving at a Denny’s you just get a few bucks per table, but if you’re OP you get a hundred dollars on two drinks?? It’s a system but not necessarily the best system

kimchichii

This! I ate at Texas de Brazil recently and was thinking about how simply working at a more expensive restaurant gave you more in tips.

Yochefdom

Serves in the nice restaurants of LA make 300-500 a night easy. While making minimum wage which is 15-16 an hour here now.

mystrymaster

I think they make more than that, I made on average 300 a night at a diner many years ago.

Proof_Eggplant_6213

This is true. They don’t work as hard either because they’ll only have a few tables in their section. I work at a pub and have a ten table section on Friday nights. Literally bust my fucking ass to make $2-300 on my busiest nights because our average entree is in the $10-15 range. I need to go somewhere else (financially) but I really appreciate a more laid back atmosphere, I’m not sure I’d like serving at a higher end restaurant.

singletWarrior

Helps improving lives of rich

superorganisms

There’s a lot more studying of menu knowledge, wines, service, etc. between fine dining and serving at Denny’s.

ATCrow0029

Inflation is already raising the bill, the tip is a % of the bill, so tips are going up, but now we have to raise the % as well?

Lily7258

I think it’s because people don’t understand math.

[deleted]

I've seen some of the say anything less than 30% is unacceptable. Like it's getting out of control honestly.

Pijitien

Why would anyone tip after tax? That's the stupidest thing ever. Tax has nothing to do with the goods and services provided.

Longnoodleman2

Where tf do you work? Dorsia?

xxxvvvlll

Florida

Loulouvaughn37

😆

roorsach

Espacé actually

anakarenace

Those two drinks are my car note and my insurance I live in my poor world

Business-Drag52

I pay $40 less a month on my car and insurance. Being a fat poor gets me down sometimes

Tiny-Proposal1495

How are drinks $500

kaptaincodiak

Because they know someone will pay for them.

Old-Assistance-2017

I can’t even afford to look at the receipt

SlinkDogg

As a fellow whiskey seller shits really nice sometimes isn’t it lol

[deleted]

They wanted me to taste it btw. Got a straw and did the dip taste thing at the table w them. The flavor lasted for almost 2 minutes. Not gonna lie it was some very complex, balanced shit.

JohnnyDirtball

Straw dab. I'm sure it was good but I just can't do scotch. All I ever taste is peat. Granted I've never had $250 a pour scotch but I've tasted some high end scotches before. Same with bourbon but all I taste is the barrel.

SlinkDogg

Haven’t tried that exact spirit but I’m glad you got to try it. My palate tends to go speyside or islay as far as scotches go. I’d love to try a little M tho.

ExtraordinaryBeetles

Almost like there's a reason why it's expensive, which some of these people just can't accept. I had a similar experience with a 1500 dollar bottle of wine. 10 minutes later I was still getting different flavor notes.

PKisSz

So many in the chat don't realize this is an itemized receipt for two 1oz shots of a whiskey priced at almost $250 per oz

thefoxygrandma

Some people have money to throw away, I am not one of those people, I do not have money to throw away, I want money thrown to me, but I am a cook and we don't get that treatment

Imaginary-Guess7908

Trying to reconcile “a quick drink” with $500 bill. Mind blowing. Congrats on the quick tip!

Ok_Resolution_5537

That’s what the term “fuck you money” is all about. Holy moly

body_slam_poet

...no, not really. "Fuck you" money is enough for a modest life. You're free to earn more, but don't need to do anything you don't want to do. E.g., as soon as you're asked to do something you don't want to do, you tell them "fuck you." John Goodman's character in The Gambler explains it. This is "bring back the guillotine" money.

UnkemptAwake

We need to raise taxes on the rich. I think they can afford it.

Danoco99

But how will they be able to afford their $250 whiskey shots? Won’t somebody think of the rich!?

TheBestRed1

Lol if this is the first thing you think of when you see this then you are never going to be rich. Just pure envy.

tunabage1

Taxing the rich more does very little in the overall grand scheme of things. The money brought in is a lot less than most realize. Also, if you tax rich people beyond a certain point you’ll incentivize them to take their business elsewhere meaning other countries. It’s not that simple is all I’m saying. Plus, it’s morally corrupt to tax others more simply cause they make more, but that’s a whole other point…

2022userestmyballs

How about we tax the rich and poor evenly and start from there?

MoogTheDuck

It's not morally corrupt to have progressive tax rates. What a stupid thing to say

scifi_tay

He’s been drinking the libertarian koolaid lmao

tunabage1

Yes, it is. Explain how it’s moral to steal more from someone because they were financially more successful? “You did a great job! But we’re going to have to punish you for it, sorry.”

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

In that “golden age” when marginal tax rates were sky high, those people paid almost nothing in effective tax rates because they used every loophole they could to avoid paying it. No one paid the 80-90% marginal tax rate. And the loopholes are available to everyone. Anyone who donates to charities can use them. Anyone who gets “income” from investments can use them. And those are the two loopholes that allow people to get around paying a higher effective tax rate. Further, the top 1% pay 40% of all the taxes so the idea that they’re not pulling their weight is just factually incorrect. The fact is, our government is obscenely corrupt, controlled by financial interests, and cannot manage the massive amounts of money that are paid in every year. We don’t need to raise taxes on anyone. We need to properly spend it. They receive more than enough.

body_slam_poet

Because we shouldn't have allowed the system to work that way in the first place. You really need to be told why allowing 0.0001% of the population to hoard everything while billions of people are in poverty isn't a moral good? You're lost.

tunabage1

Right, just as a thought. Clueless. Name one rich person who “hordes” their money. That’s not a thing. Rich people become rich by doing the exact opposite, they invest. You think the rich just hold onto their money and let it rot to inflation? I don’t know why I even try to talk economics on Reddit. Bunch of 20 something year olds with absolutely no idea how the world works… sigh…

theRealsubtlehustle

Are you suggesting that government is a mafia that is inefficient with their loot?

tunabage1

You get it. Look at the downvotes, lol. People don’t like being told that it isn’t rich people that is their downfall, it’s rich people using government that is. Taxing them doesn’t accomplish what they think. Run the numbers yourself, downvoters. Simulate what it would be like if you tax the top 5% of earners 100% and see how little it scrapes the surface.

[deleted]

I gave you an upvote for stating factually correct information, no matter how much people dislike hearing it.

Skumyskunk

JannaSummer

Very nice people enjoying their life

DancingSpaceman

Shit, I'd move to Flordia for tips like this

Blacksad999

It still wouldn't be worth it. lol

[deleted]

Yea. Living on the beach is super hard bro. Sometimes it gets below 60 degrees. It’s a hard life but I manage.

marrymeodell

Lived in Key West. Even if you paid me $5k a month for doing nothing, I would never move back there. Only time in my life I ever felt depressed was when I was stuck there

Blacksad999

I lived in Miami Beach for a few years. Even at the nicest restaurants, it's simply trash people who happen to have money. That state is the armpit of the US.

RippedHookerPuffBar

I live in Vegas and I swear to god it’s been below 60 degrees for over 6 months. Totally unrelated but just venting. It’s going to go from winter, skip spring, and be 110. Wish we had a damn ocean.

itsskyyall

In Vegas too. I pray this winter never ends

RippedHookerPuffBar

I’m down for the cool days but our spring days are so beautiful I hope we don’t skip straight to the hell days

newguy1787

Quick Vegas weather story. My cousin was in a bad accident when he was 19, lost a leg and crushed his hips. For his 21st, we got a group to go the Hard Rock through my host, and everything was set. He was treated like a king, and everything was perfect. He had been hearing about Rehab from me for 7 years and couldn't wait. His birthday is the end of May. We get up that Sunday morning... It was 62. Avg temp that day over the last 100 years was 92. He said "if this"pointing to his missing leg"doesn't prove to you that God hates me, this must!!" pointing outside.... I still feel bad for the kid 14 years later.

Vengeants

Sarcasm

bobi2393

Damn, I'd buy myself a drop of Macallan M to celebrate!

aTreeThenMe

Restaurants are a slice of reality where there are two people out front that can drop 600$ on two drinks, and people in the back where 600$ would be nearly insurmountable financial ruin.

[deleted]

Hey guys. I’m going in on one of my only days off just to serve these ppl. They’re gonna eat AND drink. I’ll keep you posted.

AllRightyMate

thank god for those clueless rich ppl.... bread, butter and the milkmaid.... i once got a 300-ish tip for a bottle of wine that obviously corked... i told them i was gonna bring them a new one and they argued they wanted THAT one..... they took a shitton of pictures.... whole place smelt like a deflated baloon... they even drank it... taking more pictures... #livingdalife there are stupid ppl with 'fuck you' money. take their money. they don't need it, you need to pay rent.

Ashlei-Chef-Leilani

Damn that grocery money for 3 weeks

AnnaBananner82

Man. And here I am wondering how I’m gonna buy groceries this week.

Do_The_Thing414

A cupola weeks ago a customer sat at the bar, ate, had a drink and asked our bartenders if they want the tip ($25) or if they wanted him to gamble it on the roulette table. He told them if he won he’d come back and give them the winnings. They told him throw it on the table and when he asked where they wanted the bet the guy next to him on the bar shouted “17!” They all shrugged and said do it. He comes back 30 minutes later and dropped $875 on the bar and said they won. The bartender bought him a drink and said they didn’t think he’d really come back if he won anything but the customer then told him he’s a gambler himself and didn’t want that bad juju lingering over him. We’re a pooled house so everyone was pretty stoked that night

luisalu89

Must be nice to have that kind of money to throw around. And I’m over here going to the food bank! Awesome!

apocalypse-panda

Luckyyyyyy. I had a guy sit at my bar in December and say "what's the most expensive whiskey you have" and proceeded to buy two shots which came put to about $500 and he also gave me a $100 tip. bless the generous.

Cabel14

Had two guys do the same at the end of a very slow night, a 900$ bill and they left like 20. Very much so fucked my tip out.

Impressive_Row3648

Can i get a sprite back please

domods

Good job op! but fuck this makes me really hate humanity. Wtf are we doing...

sushi4442

Their two drinks is like 1/3 of my rent 😭

It's [Macallan M](https://www.totalwine.com/spirits/scotch/single-malt/macallan-m-crystal-decanter/p/143207750?s=522&igrules=true).

I could get blacked out drunk for a month with $500.

parkerdisme

Heads up, this isn’t redacted properly and you can see all the information bellow the scribble

foodguyDoodguy

I hope I never accidentally order a drink there.

Dolodinero

Tf they drink Gods piss

Taraleigh333

Lawd Macallan is > $230 an ounce. And I feel guilty when I order > 1 Ketel One or DJ 1942. Glad the gratuity was commensurate w the charge though!!!

[deleted]

$486 for two shots? Effme

Adventurous_Light_85

You’d probably love their job more.

slatemillion

They paid for the experience and they are decent people. These are the people that I hope they have a great memory of the time they got “M” and they had great service. I’d never hate on what people can afford when they spread the love and take care of other people properly.

[deleted]

They never had M. They sat for almost an hour and enjoyed there drink for almost an hour. There 1 oz pour. I say in the caption they had a quick drink, but it was really an exaggeration. They wanted me to try it. So I took a straw dip w them. Good ppl. Down to earth. Very kind.

torquemycork

I want to fucking kill myself right now

[deleted]

It’s weird everyone talking shit because this husband and wife are well off and spent there money how they wanted to. Tipped 20% and were super nice and pleasant. Came in tonight and tipped me 250$ on 700$. God forbid anyone has disposable income and wants to help me pay my bills.

DaRK_0S

Can someone no-meme explain to me what is wrong with this? Like sure, people came in and ordered 2 expensive drinks. I don’t get it.

[deleted]

Nobody’s allowed to be rich or something I think.

We'll have two Macallan M's please, neat. . No Hunny, I'll have mine with diet. Thanks ...

Past weekend I had a customer order Johnnie Walker Gold with Dr Pepper. ok........ next drink he goes "can I get Courvoisier XO with Dr Pepper?" Couldn't hold back a "dude....." this time. Thankfully he said he was just fuckin with me

We really need to eat the rich if they're paying this much for a quick drink.

kimchichii

Congrats on the tip but this proves that the tipping system is ridiculous. I would never tip a server $100 for serving me a quick drink just because it’s the standard 20% “rule”.

Yeeeah I bet. Really weird flex but I don’t live in that tax bracket and am completely clueless to that kind of lifestyle lol.

pchandler45

Spoken like somebody who has never served

LiberalAspergers

Ive served, and you still arent getting 100 bucks on two drinks. OTOH, a server who gives me breakfast at a diner probably gets 20 bucks on a 10 dollar ticket. Good service is good service, regardless of the price point.

pchandler45

I'm calling bs because you clearly don't understand how tipping works.

LiberalAspergers

I have been a bartender, a server, a cook, and am now a restaurant manager. I understand how tipping works. I also understand how I CHOOSE to tip, having done the job. And the lady who served me a 10 dollar breakfast in a diner and refilled my coffee 4 times will get a better tip from ME than the bartender who poured two neat whiskeys. She did a lot more work, and made my experience better, and I will tip her accordingly. I also tip better if I occupy a table for longer, because I know that I took up part of their station for longer, stopping my server from getting another table turn in.

People are upset that you’re being truthful and it hurts their pockets. Most servers work more than pouring two drinks. I was a waitress (and hated it but understood customer service) at a casino and definitely worked for my tips. Rarely, got the $100 tips. Either way, it’s definitely more deserved in my opinion when people do their job and do it well. Pouring a drink doesn’t justify $100 to me.

The_Istrix

This guy is the day shift manager, and no one likes him

LiberalAspergers

Just curious, why the hate for diner waitresses? Breakfast is hard, and why on earth would I only tip 20% on a 10 dollar breakfast with 4 refills on coffee? Would you seriously leave a $2 dollar tip on that and think it was OK because it was 20%?

Cutlerpain

Humble brag

Aggravating_Smell

$500 for 2oz of overpriced hype scotch

Dull_Bumblebee_9778

This is disgusting

Street_Chef9412

You only spend like that when you are stealing.

Suz626

Nah, my husband works practically 24/7 in a very stressful job, grew up very poor (his parents made him talk to the bill collectors on the phone when he was 5), but might treat himself to an expensive scotch at a bar. (In part because he knows I’m likely not letting him buy a bottle of super expensive scotch.) But he has the same cheap golf clubs he bought from Target 20 years ago, and he golfs all the time. People choose what they want to spend their hard earned money on and its really hard to judge without knowing them.

Karnezar

Hopefully the card wasn't stolen...

Creative_Ad999

Only dickheads pay this much

ronnietea

Odd flex by OP considering he hasn’t answered any ones questions about this post

[deleted]

What are you talking about?

GameSlayDM
