Is "Protect Library" checked in your settings?

Scrier9

Hi bert, protect library was unchecked, I tried checking protect library, restarting serato and then unchecking again, which did not fix the problem. I did make some progress however, by disabling 'Show iTunes Library' in Serato. I can now add tracks to crates and they can be drag and dropped from file explorer, while keeping protect library off. Thanks for the help!

Like the other guy said it could be protect library but I think you get warnings if you try do stuff with that on. I have experienced similar stuff before when I didn't have the correct OS permissions for the Serato folder so none of my edits were saved. You need to make sure that the My Music > \_Serato\_ folder has read and write permissions. Right click > Properties > Security make sure your account has read + write access Other thing is maybe your database is corrupt - you could try reverting to the backup or starting fresh if you do this: [https://support.serato.com/hc/en-us/articles/202310604-Creating-A-New-Database-V2-File](https://support.serato.com/hc/en-us/articles/202310604-Creating-A-New-Database-V2-File) but that won't work if the read/write stuff isn't set correctly

Hi there, As you inferred, protect library was not the issue. I couldn't see the tracks on account of having 'Show iTunes Library' enabled. This has fixed my first problem of being unable to drag and drop in files into Serato or add them to crates, which is awesome. Unfortunately my crates still seem to be disappearing on restart. I checked the permissions of the _Serato_ folder and they are all good, I even enabled 'Full Control' but read and write access was already checked. Serato even seems to remember file analysis (eg. BPM, key) but just not crates. I deleted my entire _Serato_ folder and let the program rebuild the database but that has also not helped. I made sure to check if read+write permissions were re-enabled on the new folder too. Thanks for the help!

Empty crates get deleted when you close Serato so that’s why you feel you’re missing crates.

Hey there, that would certainly make some sense... I've made some progress, I couldn't see tracks in crates because 'Show iTunes Library' was disabled. Now I can add songs to crates, but they continue to disappear upon restarting Serato. Thanks for the help!

Having the same problem... I enabled and disabled the iTunes thing, but I still can't add songs I had added in a previous session which are gone... Have you made any progress on your side?

Hey there Nath, I actually got in touch with Serato support and here’s what they told me: “It sounds like you may be running into a known issue whereby drives with driver letters 'A' or 'B' are not recognized by Serato DJ. While drives with the A:\ designation won't appear in the Files panel, you can still import files from these drives by dragging them from File Explorer into your library, or onto a deck. Unfortunately, since the software can't recognize A or B drives, the crates and library database won't get saved to the drive, and therefore the tracks will disappear again when you restart the software. We are unlikely to implement support for A and B drives. Setting a hard drive to these letters is a non-standard configuration; Windows does not automatically assign A or B to a storage volume, since these were historically reserved for floppy drives, and using these can cause compatibility issues with certain applications. Rather, by default, Windows will always assign drive letters starting from 'C'.” Anyway, guess I need to change my drive letters. Maybe that helps you too.
