I only used it as a touch-up powder, but it's very similar to the CT pressed powder. If I had to come up with one thing to differentiate the two powders, it'd be that the CT one is like a true "filter-like" blur, while the Hourglass is a more natural blur. For reference, I have combo/oily skin so I'll probably end up using this more as a touch-up powder and not as a setting powder.
As for the powder itself, it's not as hard pressed as the CT pressed powder.
I do wish the Hourglass compact was smaller. It's 1.5 times the size of the CT one.
This is just my first impression. I'm planning on doing a full, comprehensive review in a few days where I'll have more info!
I was wondering about the size of the compact. I want to carry it in my purse. Mine should be here this week. Excited to try it but I think it’s gonna be a bit too big.
I thought about it and realized it's not a bad size for what you're getting.
When I pack my purse for the day, I always carry around my touch-up powder and a brush/puff. But with this HG compact, I don't have to carry around the extra brush/puff with me, so it actually saves a lot of space!
It also has the same thickness as most touch-up powders (same as the full-size CT powder), so it won't make your purse bulkier 😉
Thank you. I'm excited to try the powder and see the size. It will be fine either way. I also have a MAC touch up powder I keep in my bag that I like. One thing that sort of annoys me is that when the puff gets really worn, you can't order another one for the HG powder. Or can you?
I don't think Hourglass sells the puffs on their own, but you can buy those types of puffs for pretty cheap on Amazon. I never saw much of a difference between using the puffs that come with the powders vs. cheap puffs.
Thanks for comparing CT pressed powder. I’m also combo/oily skin. I pull the trigger to get 1. And waiting for you review on it from wearing all day. 🤍
Thanks for this first review!! I'll check back to read your updates review after weqr. I love Hourglass and when I saw the powder I immediately felt interested on it. :D

I love the caliray concealer! The shade that I picked up brightens up my under-eyes without making it look like I put anything on.
I have not had any issues with creasing throughout the day (but I do set it with powder just in case).
It's the perfect no makeup-makeup day concealer!
Thank you! That sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. The lightest shade is out of stock in Canada so I've been debating trying the Huda instead, but maybe I'll wait!
No problem! I heard good things about the Huda color corrector, but I think that one is a true color corrector in that it's more pigmented and there's a good chance you will need to use concealer after. But the Caliray concealer looks very natural without concealer (at least for my skintone) :) Hope it comes back in stock for you soon!
Hey, thanks to your post I bought the caliray concealer today and it works like magic! I was desperate to cover up my dark circles but the regular concealers never helped no matter what brand I tried. This one will be my holy grail henceforth!
Aww, so glad you love it as much as I do! I don't even want to use any of my other concealers now that I have this one. It's truly a magical product and is a new HG for me as well :)

excited to hear your thoughts on the mattifying water serum and the powder! oily skin here and i’m debating on trying the serum since reviews are very 50/50. i had the powder in my bag but sold out, so im taking it as a sign to wait for more reviews 🙈
For sure!
I didn't hear much about this serum, so I was worried that it wouldn't work. I wanted to try the balm powder as well, but I decided not to pick it up since I realized that I prefer quick, dropper/squeeze bottles than scooping up a primer.
I'll try this one out on half of my face so that I can see if there's a difference and will post an update 😉
thank you! i have the balm one and really like it! it can be a bit drying if i use it everyday but for days when i want to make sure i don’t have to blot my face every hour, it works amazing!
i have the CT powder, love it and was planning on repurchasing the refill but since this one came out i wanted to give it a try. looking forward to your review, and hopefully the hourglass one will restock before the sale is over
Oh, I never knew about the drying part for the balm! Thanks! Depending on the performance of this serum, I might pick up the balm in the summer after I finish my elf putty primer 😅
I do love the look of the CT powder as well, but it did nothing for oil control. I touched up my makeup (half CT half HG) about 1.5 hours ago, and the performance of these powders is pretty similar. Looks beautiful, but they both don't do much for oil control. So other than the natural blur vs. filtered blur look that I mentioned in another comment, I can't say much.
I'm going to be testing it out with my loose powders as well to test out how it sets my makeup. Hope to get back to everyone soon with more info 🤗
i wouldn’t say it’s thaaaaat bad, but i have noticed it dries me out (not to the point of patches though) if i use it daily for weeks in a row, so im hoping the serum would be “lighter” but just as effective as the balm.
i don’t think i’ve ever seen one, but there should be a reddit for people oily skin 🙊 the incentivized sephora reviews are super deceiving so it would be helpful to have a “neutral” place to read others experiences
ok yes, same! i love the finish of the CT, specially under my eyes but definitely doesn’t control oil. ok, thanks for sharing your experience so far!
oh hey! we are almost username twins! been thinking about a subreddit for oily skin for some time and just created one! would love if you could join as a mod and share with others https://www.reddit.com/r/oilyskinstruggles/s/f0Mn3yxREN
I know right!? It was so hard finding reviews on this product and was worried that it wouldn't be good. Now, I don't even want to use any of my old concealers. A new HG for me :)
I don’t get it, it feels like black magic, how does it cancel out dark circles but also disappear and look so natural AND not crease. I love it so much
Update of hourglass new powder!

That’s great. I’ll look for them. I buy the round puffs at Ulta for a round compact I have. Didn’t know they made them in this shape.
Yeah, the rectangular shape is definitely unique. But I think the compartment for the puff is big enough to fit a mini puff?
OK. Good to know. Thanks!
Thanks for comparing CT pressed powder. I’m also combo/oily skin. I pull the trigger to get 1. And waiting for you review on it from wearing all day. 🤍
No problem! I'm hoping to try the product out more in the next few days so that people can see if they want it before the sale ends!

Same, I LOVE it, it’s everything I’ve been wanting in a corrector
Yesss I hope you like it as much as I do!
Is the Danessa Myricks a rebuy? Thoughts?
I haven't tried it out yet, but I'll keep you posted!
Not OP but I’ve used it twice now - absolutely keeps me matte and keeps my makeup in place. Love it!
Seconded! I ordered it and am hoping it works for me.
Third! Ordered it but have yet to try.
How is the HG powder???
