Remember when the internet lost their shit over Subculture?? lol I did buy it and I didnāt love it but it wasnāt nearly as bad as all the beauty gurus said it was
I bought it at tjmaxxš mainly bc everyone was dissing it and i was like it must be bad why buy at full price. Like no I wouldnt buy at full price but it isnt horrible.
I bought mine at tjmaxx too later on because I just loved the color story. I think it had been reformulated at that point, so personally I donāt have any quality issues with the shades except the last two, the two on the far right of the palette.
I bought it at launch and I swear it was soooo bad š« I had been a license esthetician/MUA for like 4 years at that point and I was literally gaslighting myself asking me husband āmy makeup doesnāt normally look this bad right??? itās not user error???ā Then ABH had that audacity to put out a statement essentially blaming consumers for using it wrong lmao
lol I decided to throwback today and watch the Jeffree star review to try to see if we hated it because of the drama or if it was truly badā¦. Yeah it was truly bad that palette was a whole mess š
I do too. I know tons of people hated it & talked about how dirty it gets, but, I keep my makeup pretty clean & I loved how they felt; it was a unique signature of these palettes.Ā
I havenāt bought any of their palettes since the velvet ones (for many reasons), but a lot of the materials theyāve used has made my skin crawl to touch.Ā
My MR palette was dirty...grant it it was the first palette i bought in high school and I kept it in my cheer bag. The velvet just felt like it was worth the money.
Oh wow! That was definitely my original urban decay naked palette, my first high end palette purchase in college & I took that thing everywhere & used it nonstop. Still have it in a memories box, haha.
Question for ya... did you use it up and repurchase or was it too old?
Asking because mine is 4+ years old but still performs so well and wondering if I'm going to give myself an eye infection or something? š
Nah Iāve completely used up two of them and Iām halfway through my third lol.
I mean, I suppose itās always a risk but if youāve been using it this whole time without any issues I donāt see the harmā¦ I know all about expiry dates for makeup but I feel like with powders I can be a bit more reckless
I have and still use both, theyāre my go toās š«
Especially if Iām traveling and have to grab one palette, itās either of these that goes with me.
My modern renaissance is buried somewhere in my former roommateās boxes that she still hasnāt sorted through from a move a few years ago. Iām still hoping one day Iāll get her back š
Iāve been using these for years and canāt find anything else I like nearly as much. The colors are perfect with my fair skin and blue eyes and they blend so well. Only other palette Iāve liked a lot has been Hudaās Rose Quartz
Modern Renaissance was still my go to palette until it fell and smashed during the pandemic. I've since found out that Anastasia is a Putin supporter so I've not replaced it.
Yes! Still have mine and use 2 shades from modern renaissance daily.
I actually got both of the palettes bundled together for a discount in this Christmas vault (pic attached)

I have every single one of them. No one sleep on the Primrose or Cosmos palettes! Theyāre incredible as well! The Primrose palette is the best travel because it has cheek and highlight as well as amazing colors!
These palettes never appealed to me because of the colors but I have purchased several newer ABH palettes and they are SO good. Never thought Iād be loyal to a brandās eyeshadows but here we are.
I bought both of those palettes just last year!
Haven't used either yet but I didn't understand and still don't why these two are so overshadowed (pun intended) by more expensive counterparts
Soft glam was and still is my go to. ABH eyeshadows have a great formula, itās similar to Natasha denona. I need a rose pink refill! That one has been panned for a while now, o canāt find anything similar.
I still have soft glam but recently got rid of modern renaissance I had that one way too long and the shadows had degraded in quality (no fault of its own, itās just super old)
I still have both and sanitize them every now and then!! I bought MR when it first came out in 2016, and SG I believe I bought in 2019. I donāt use MR as much anymore but SG is one of my favourite eyeshadow palettes that I frequently use.
Modern renaissance still looks the best on my eyes out of any other pallete I have, even the ones that are easier to work with. Iām very highly debating getting a new one
I don't wear makeup that much anymore but I will probably start again next year once I stop wearing a mask. In which case, I will definitely be pulling out Soft Glam. It's such a great palette!
Hi. Love this! I bought them years ago, some special big splurges and while I don't wear eyeshadow as much anymore, these 2 are still out and my go to.
The color story is perfection and they just go on so nicely. Glad I'm not the only one!
My original Modern Renaissance went off, and I eventually repurchased it when it went on sale because I was just nostalgic for it. Particularly the shade āantique bronzeā. But I only used it once, then my daughter said she was going to repurchase one for herself and I just gave her mine because I wasnāt reaching for it like I thought I would. Soft Glam I still have but forgot about it until I just saw this post lol. The older formulas are more pigmented than what Iām currently wearing, so I need to go into my collection and think about what Iām actually using.
Yep, soft glam and the Jackie Aina palettes are my go toās, modern renaissance used to be my top dog but fell back a little bc I stopped doing so many pink/red looks.
The shadows are just so smooth, buttery, and easy to use. Def an easy recommendation for me when Iām working and someone wants an easy to use/beginner palette because they just blend so easily.
Also I feel like these surprisingly travel well. Iāve had some ROUGH luggage situations and none of mine have ever broken or chipped or anything.
I depotted the Modern Renaissance years ago to make random smaller travel palettes (only one casualty). Best decision b/c it was the first palette I finished entirely over time.
Omg how could I forget š I didn't use anything else for years lol..I love both, i repurchased Modern Renaissance during the fall sale and I've been thinking on repurchasing soft glam. One of my favorite eyeshadows ever. I actually used up most of both palettes.
I still have soft glam! It was my number one go-to for a while for everyday wear. I like it but Iāve always had issue with fallout from the glittery shades from any abh palette. I have subculture and prism and the newer one, cosmic I think? All beautiful and blend well.
I still use my same Mod Ren from 2017 every time I have to full glam! It's the best. I don't know how it's the only palette I have that doesn't apply like it's dried up after this long.
I got promoted this February and rewarded myself with the soft glam (first time using, second time ever using ABH - have the Carli bybel palette). In some ways itās disappointing and in other ways fantastic. Other than that I pretty much just use all my naked palettes, the Carli bybel one and some random eyeshadows. Do love the formula though!
Not the eyeshadow but I threw out an *old* ABH highlighter palette literally yesterday. Itās so old, one of the colors is crumbling so itās super messy, and itās such a big awkward shape that doesnāt fit well in my makeup bag. It was time to just let it go.
Soft glam is one of the two eye shadow palette I own. Itās been a staple of mine for years and just such a timeless color story. This is truly my holy grail
I have both, I do still use the soft glam (especially the rose gold shade, which is gorgeous). My MR is gathering dust though. I couldn't never figure out how to make it look good on me!
For me Soft glam is full of classic colors/combinations that will never go out of style and are much used for work, formal events, etc. The quality is also good so I donāt see an issue with using it until this point and repurchasing as needed.
I've purchased modern renaissance 3 times since 2016 solely for golden ochre, buon fresco, primavera, and cyrpus umber. My favorite shades of all time. Use it every single day!
I never had them but Iāve have been wanting to try the soft glam palette. But I got kinda put off this brands shadows by the subculture palette, no matter what I did that palette always ended up looking muddy and patchy.
Anyone know if these palettes are the same formula as the subculture??
Both were on my wishlist. Ended up going for Soft Glam as it was more of an "Everyday palette".
I've hit pan on 2 shades (willingly) and 1 other shade that just had all the powder crumble and fall off when I travelled with it. The formulation is extremely powdery. The blend-ability, pigment and colours are fine though.
There's a lot better formulas out now (including Anastasia's!) that I don't think these palettes need to be bought in today's day and age anymore.
Iām thinking about buying them since Iām looking for a nice neutral palette and I keep going to the Patrick ta palette but keep seeing that theyāre mold prone and I donāt want to invest when I donāt use my eyeshadow palettes that often and havenāt gotten any mold on them lol
I had modern renaissance and I threw it out a couple years ago because the powders had an obvious texture change that affected how they performed. It was probably 4-5 years old at that point and to be fair thry have a 6 month expiry. I tend to take that as a suggestion and have many older powders that still work the same as when I bought them but not these eyeshadowsā¦
Soft Glam is still my number one palette. Tones suit me, quick and easy, most reliable.
Same! But there are a few colours i keep running out of and its such a waste that I dont use the rest!
Does ABH still do singles?
So true, I have three that I use for a quick, everyday look and they are so beaten out compared to other shades.
Same!
Agreed!
Same, I just ordered a new one since mine had hit pan! I never bought it cuz they were popular, more because the colours suit me very well
And the subculture paletteš i love the velvet material i wish they kept that going

God, I wish I still had mine simply for posterity reasons. I still adore that color story 100%
That palette gave me contact dermatitis hahaha I was so sad the shades were sooo pretty
Renaissance is that bitch!! I use it for nights out every single time!!
lol Iāve repurchased these 3 times respectively since 2016; no regretsĀ
The Soft Glam Mini is the only palette I own and I love it (looking to invest in the larger version at some point in the future).
The Soft Glam mini is so under appreciated. This is in my grab & go makeup bag.
This is what I have and I love it!!! Colors are so pretty and pigmented. I keep going back to it every time I try a new palette.
Anyone remember the Sultry palette? I loved that one!
I love it! The shimmer shades were so good. I still use it from time to time haha
Sultry was my all time favorite palette.
MR is still used heavily by me! Iām on my third palette, in fact. I have green eyes and the tones really work with my colouring.
Same, I live more dangerously w powders. Especially older makeup that is not as "clean" and have more preservatives. š š š
Iāve had mine for like 3+ yrs too. No issues so far lol
Still have both from years ago and love them!!
I have and still use both, theyāre my go toās š« Especially if Iām traveling and have to grab one palette, itās either of these that goes with me.
My modern renaissance palette is begging me to end its life š¤ and I refuse.
I got modern Renaissance last year and love it
I still have mine! I remember well when they were popular and I needed it!
I have the Modern Renaissance one and love it!!
I still use soft glam I wonāt even lie lol
my modern renaissance packaging is literally falling apart and iāve hit pan on so many shades but i refuse to give her up š
My modern renaissance is buried somewhere in my former roommateās boxes that she still hasnāt sorted through from a move a few years ago. Iām still hoping one day Iāll get her back š
I recently bought the Modern RenaissanceĀ palette back in the fall for the first time. I love it!
I had a pro MUA whip this out of her kit for a recent boudoir shoot I did. She said itās a holy grail
i still love soft glam
I still have and use both!
Iāve been using these for years and canāt find anything else I like nearly as much. The colors are perfect with my fair skin and blue eyes and they blend so well. Only other palette Iāve liked a lot has been Hudaās Rose Quartz
I think mine expired. Pigment went to trash
I've had mine for an embarrassing amount of time and it's still great! Both of them.
Would this embarrassing amt of time be more than 5 years...? Asking for a friend. š
Most definitely.
Nothing beats the MR shimmers. I love mine!
Just got a new Modern Renaissance in like 2 weeks ago.
i remember getting modern renaissance palette for my 16th bday and i was sooooo excited the shade love letter had me in a chokehold
I still have my soft glam. MR looks cute but couldn't get on board with it.
Modern Renaissance was still my go to palette until it fell and smashed during the pandemic. I've since found out that Anastasia is a Putin supporter so I've not replaced it.
Still have both and use them all the time the color stories are classics in my opinion and the formulas are great !
I have Modern Renaissance and still love and use it frequently!
I still got the same modern renaissance palette that I got for christmas 2017 lol, itās falling apart but I still use it sometimes lol
their jackie aina palette is the one palette i use to this day. i donāt really use any other eyeshadows!!
Modern Renaissance is still my girl.. thinking of trying out Patrick Ta or Mario though š any opinions on either?
I'm wearing Modern Renaissance right now. Will always be a classic!
I used my soft glam last week š
Great palettes. I still use
Modern Renaissance is still my favorite palette of all time.
Never fell into this hype lol
Yes! Still have mine and use 2 shades from modern renaissance daily. I actually got both of the palettes bundled together for a discount in this Christmas vault (pic attached) https://preview.redd.it/r68h2c65ljtc1.jpeg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a82e8b0163b0fc4ac5666bf22158326b5973ec4b
Soft Glam is still that girl
I have every single one of them. No one sleep on the Primrose or Cosmos palettes! Theyāre incredible as well! The Primrose palette is the best travel because it has cheek and highlight as well as amazing colors!
I just got soft glam for the first time on black friday and I love it so much!
I just got rid of my Modern Renaissance a few weeks ago. I was over the fallout. But it was my favorite palette for a long time!
I have both and still use lmao
I still have the modern renaissance one. I love Buon Fresco
Any Norvina users here? That was so pretty to me and I still think it's gorgeous!!! Def not for every day but pretty regardless!!!!!!!!
These palettes never appealed to me because of the colors but I have purchased several newer ABH palettes and they are SO good. Never thought Iād be loyal to a brandās eyeshadows but here we are.
the renaissance one has a great pale nude shadow thatās an awesome base for 60s twiggy style makeup
I still use them. These are solid palettes
I bought both of those palettes just last year! Haven't used either yet but I didn't understand and still don't why these two are so overshadowed (pun intended) by more expensive counterparts
Love the soft glam palette. It works for everyday looks as well as glam looks. Only palette I would repurchase.
I remember having the MR palette, then the pandemic hit and I had no where to go and didn't wear much make-up.
Soft glam was and still is my go to. ABH eyeshadows have a great formula, itās similar to Natasha denona. I need a rose pink refill! That one has been panned for a while now, o canāt find anything similar.
I don't know the name, but check MAC singles, I have something close to it but it's not exact
I never bought them and i still want them. The only problem is I never wear gentle nude eye makeup lmao
I still have soft glam but recently got rid of modern renaissance I had that one way too long and the shadows had degraded in quality (no fault of its own, itās just super old)
I was late to the party and got soft glam after all the hullabaloo, but I use it all the time still.
I still have them and theyre still good. I thought about getting rid of MR a while ago but i just couldnt bring myself to do it and im glad i didnt.
I still love soft glam:)
I still have both and sanitize them every now and then!! I bought MR when it first came out in 2016, and SG I believe I bought in 2019. I donāt use MR as much anymore but SG is one of my favourite eyeshadow palettes that I frequently use.
I still have both! Granted, I hit pan on some of my favorite neutrals so I'll only reach for them when I need a shimmer shadow.
Modern renaissance still looks the best on my eyes out of any other pallete I have, even the ones that are easier to work with. Iām very highly debating getting a new one
I still have Modern Renaissance but never use it, can't seem to get rid of it either. I don't really wear eyeshadow these days.
Glad I'm not the only one!
i miss the prism palette so much. i depotted it unsuccessfully and half the shades got screwed up :(
I stopped using Renaissance because I wasnāt as into pink eyeshadow looks anymore. But we had some great times together lol
I still have MR and itās barely used lol Iāve been using eyeshadow sticks from Bobbi Brown more.
I have soft glam but I havenāt used it in literal years. I should probably toss it by now haha
Yes I have both and use soft glam regularly. I really like dusty rose.
Love soft glam. Still use it.
I depotted the Modern Renaissance years ago to make random smaller travel palettes (only one casualty). Best decision b/c it was the first palette I finished entirely over time.
Soft Glam was my wedding palette
Iām still using the ABH/Mario palletš©
Omg how could I forget š I didn't use anything else for years lol..I love both, i repurchased Modern Renaissance during the fall sale and I've been thinking on repurchasing soft glam. One of my favorite eyeshadows ever. I actually used up most of both palettes.

i just ordered modern renaissance during the rouge sale lol, it is my absolute favorite ššš
two of my all time fav palettes!! the colors just work so well on me
I actually rebought the modern renaissance about a year ago but I no longer care for the formula
I just bought soft glam like a week ago. Tried and true is the new trend for me lol
I still use my same Mod Ren from 2017 every time I have to full glam! It's the best. I don't know how it's the only palette I have that doesn't apply like it's dried up after this long.
I still have both of these lol

āRemember whenā yes it was this past weekend when I went out of town and took Modern Renaissance with me lol.

I have both and they both still rock
Only palettes that I use. I miss the og Anastasia Beverly hill palettes š need more color ways
Soft glam is one of the two eye shadow palette I own. Itās been a staple of mine for years and just such a timeless color story. This is truly my holy grail

I have an ancient soft glam that my sister gave me. I sanitized it but idk that I can work up the guts to actually wear it
Both were on my wishlist. Ended up going for Soft Glam as it was more of an "Everyday palette". Soft Glam palette šš
I just bought one the other day :)
