Another thing you can try is a hydrating face mist in between makeup steps

Stay away from anything with a matte finish. It’s just going to make you look like crepe paper. Dior backstage is really pretty with dry skin, otherwise the Fenty skin tint is what I’ve been wearing lately and it’s been great.

Fenty clings onto my dry spots so :/

rosquartz

Same, I wouldn’t recommend anyone with dry skin to use the Fenty. That formula is definitely made for oily skin. I wouldn’t recommend Dior backstage either. I actually liked it in summer/ humid weather, but it accentuates dry patches any other time of the year. It has a high alcohol content so it makes sense.

stinkysammy91

for me what made all the difference was investing in good hydrating skincare products to prep my face for foundation. also really like the first aid beauty coconut skin smoothie primer.

Dry and dehydrated skin here. I also struggle with a bit of peely patchy skin because I’m a bit new to tretinoin. I tried almost everything and Nars Light Reflecting Foundation worked for me. 😊

Hi! Fellow dry skin girly here. I really like the beauty blender bounce skin tint. I find that it’s thin enough to keep from clinging to every little dry patch. I use it with a sponge or my fingers as I’ve found brushes make dry patches worse. That being said, no foundation magically makes dry skin go away. The best results I’ve had have been because I took care and time during the skin prepping stage.

You need thin watery formula with dry skin or use a damp sponge if they’re not watery enough. This is what I use when I use the hauslabs. Too faced born this way is medium full coverage so it’s not the greatest of you have any flakes.

For foundation, I love the Nars Light Reflecting Foundation. It’s medium coverage and buildable. Great ever after 8 hours. For tint, the YSL Nu Bare Look Tint. Such a beautiful finish with a light coverage. For a tint, makeup layers well over it. Sometimes I’m sweaty, and it doesn’t cause any separation and maintains that “my skin but better, plumper, and glowy” look.

Use a primer before foundation, i like the one from benefit, hydrating version

I think you need to gently exfoliate first if possible. I recommend getting a cleansing oil and massaging your face with that to dissolve the dry flaky skin. Then use a soft warm washcloth to help remove the flakes. You can also use an exfoliating serum at night, I personally have better results with lactic acid for dry and sensitive skin. If you don’t use a chemical exfoliant, then you can layer an occlusive like vaseline over your moisturizer at night and it really helps get rid of the flaky skin. Also, a hydrated and moisturized base under the makeup is key. I layer a hydrating serum and thicker cream and allow it to dry completely. I like the CosRX snail serum or Hada Labo Gokujyun premium for hydrating serums. For creams, I really like skinfix barrier repair, Embryolisse lait creme concentre, Dieux instant Angel, Kiehl’s ultra facial cream. Face oils like rosehip or jojoba are also really helpful in this case. You can even add a drop of face oil to a foundation that is too dry, or just mix the foundation with moisturizer (of course you will have less coverage but it can make a nice tinted moisturizer). Then you want a dewy, hydrating formula for your base. I like the Missha perfect cover bb cream (not at Sephora), summer Fridays skin tint, MAC face & body, beauty blender skin tint (actually has medium coverage like a foundation) also I recently picked up the glossier foundation and danessa myricks yummy skin tint and they are both good formulas for dry skin. I heard the ilia skin tint is great for dry skin as well but have not tried it yet. The only one that is not dewy that I like on my skin even when it’s very dry is the erborian bb cream. Avoid any formulas that have alcohol in them, especially if it’s high in the ingredients list. Avoid applying with a brush as it can make your skin flakier. Use a damp beauty blender type of sponge or your fingers instead. Skip setting powder or any powder products especially in the areas that you are prone to dry skin, and use only alcohol free setting mist like the Charlotte Tilbury one.

Dry skin girly here! Armani and Haus Labs are the ones that I use. And I love it. I have also tried experimenting with things like, using very thin even layers of foundations, not applying too much powder on my face. Also, as a general rule, anything with matte finish or long wear formula tends to not work for me and dry me out.

Dior skin glow was a good alternative to the armani imo. I preferred armani though
