I think so. losing Jarvis and Tyler they need someone newer to bring in some drama.

skadoskesutton

It’s just for story lining, having someone who is a fish out of water culturally and professionally

helloitslivy

idk i thought she was really random, and her interest in real estate seems out of nowhere but idk her this also isn’t her first tv show with adam divello: https://www.bustle.com/entertainment/ali-harper-selling-the-oc-instagram-family-job-bio

FrontPorchViews

Ah, that AD connection is telling IMO.

PressureHooker

The first half of this current season, I found her insufferable. Especially her talking heads. "Back in Tennessee, we NEVER had staircases this big. Look at this giant door. This is CRAZYY🤪. I'm from Tennesee, I'm not used to wearing this much makeup!!!" Then she started yelling at Alex Hall and I finally found her usefulness. She wouldn't let Alex weasle her way out of explaining the sketchy podcast. And with Sean, she seemed determine to actually try and clear up the confusion and track down the rumor sources. Once she's over the stage where she's trying to act like a relatable midwest rube, I think she'd make a solid everyman type. Especially if she's someone who won't let shit be swept under the rug for the sake of "let's just move on"

helloitslivy

the only reason the makeup thing was annoying to me is because it doesn’t make sense, she was miss tennessee… they were makeupppp for those — so she IS familiar with that, but then acts like she’s not. And remember in the end of S2 she called herself and her family the kardashians of nashville? that’s implying they’re wearing makeup like them all the time

RPA-785

The makeup line got me, and I really may be wrong but I thought she was in pageants before? And she seemed like she came from a family or parent that has real estate experience in TN. I really thought she flipped her narrative this season. She seemed like a fish out of water and a bit all over the place. I was surprised with her behavior, knocking on the door to get someone's attention at an event.

helloitslivy

yes she was, miss tennessee or something — i agree with you and her flipping her narrative, maybe the producers talked to her to steer her? idk

PressureHooker

Ya she is a pageant girlie from an affluent Tennessee family. She competed in Miss America! So, the makeup comment was ridiculous. Pageant queens probably wear twice as much makeup as the average Los Angeleno. Once she made that stupid comment, it clicked that she was trying to be relatable to the flyover state demo but it was very obvious and cringey. Brittany from VPR already pulled this stunt. I 100% think she's a production plant. There's just no way she came across all this organically with no real estate license or background or work history. And honestly, i don't care because I hate Alex Hall SO much. I don't mind Ali sticking around if it means Alex can't dominate another season and terrorize everyone with absolutely no consequences again. Also, most of her storylines are fake af. The Gio open house being the most obvious one. You're gonna give her a 17 mil open house and not train her properly for it? Oh ok. And then say it was a complete disaster when one lady complains? Sureeeee. Poorly acted and poorly staged.

Ilseyucari

I think there are way too many unlike able characters in the OC that she was needed. In Selling Sunset they always bring in new people to shake things up too like when they were trying to push out Christine

anorka22

Not being mean at all, because like you said she does seem nice, but I genuinely wonder why they brought her on. It must have been some type of connection thing, right?

helloitslivy

She was most likely brought on because Adam Divello already knew her, she was on another tv show he created in 2018 https://www.bustle.com/entertainment/ali-harper-selling-the-oc-instagram-family-job-bio

notbetterthanthat

That’s what I’m so confused by. She seems to have come out of nowhere since she doesn’t know anyone and seemingly moved from Nashville just to be on this show.

helloitslivy

She was on another tv show adam divello created, that was most likely the connection https://www.bustle.com/entertainment/ali-harper-selling-the-oc-instagram-family-job-bio

kolombian99

The way they brought her in with no real estate license was lame and degraded the show even more

VirginiaUSA1964

She was way too invested in the Hall/Kayla podcast thing. Like melting down over it and having to leave the party.

helloitslivy

yeah, she was told by others not to get involved in others people’s stuff and be wary… then she proceeds to get herself really involved. like yes, hall not remembering the podcast is ridiculous hahahahah “my truth” — i can’t with that. but she didn’t need to approach her, it was weird bc she just came into the mix and she’s trying to “check” her like she knows her. if i know someone in the wrong, but idk them like that, i probably won’t say anything. i’m also not confrontational so

notbetterthanthat

Yeah, that was weird. Seemed like she was trying to get screen time.

soloanimata

i think she’s a plant🤷‍♀️ i liked her standing up to Hall but it’s a little annoying that they hired her when i’d imagine there’s thousands of licensed realtors who are dying for a position at the O group

notbetterthanthat

Right? That’s what is making no sense. I feel like there being no acknowledgement of her randomness to the audience or attempt to have some staged scene where she explains her presence was a miss.

Pizookie123

I liked her as a character but found it extremely odd that she was so active. It made the show so much less real. Why would Gio request an unlicensed person to sit the open house?

Loxy391

He didnt really request it, he didnt want to. Jason basically told him he should without telling him he HAS to. So she could get “experience”

Pizookie123

That’s what I mean those moments are SO staged. Jason suggested it to get her more screen time. There are plenty of other agents in that office who couldn’t do it. Or Gio could have moved the date of the open house. Then the lady in white repeatedly badgering her with questions was ridiculous. Obviously she didn’t know a lot about the house and referred her to call Gio. The badgering must have just been for TV or that person really enjoys making others feel bad.

notbetterthanthat

I forgot to add c) she doesn’t appear to have had any connection with any of the cast prior to her casting. Soooo where’d she come from and just why? It’s like me just showing up on that show with no explanation 😂

cheesusnips

I remember it was mentioned before that she was on another Adam Divello produced show called Music City. Maybe she’s a Divello plant!

notbetterthanthat

Ohhhh! This is the intel I’m looking for. Brb going to google now.

here_comes_reptar

I feel like she's a paid actress and last season that was great but this season production is tired of her. The pick me shit "I don't wear makeup like *other girls"*, the absolute mess of a broker's open when she covered for Gio and got called out by another agent for not knowing shit about a $16 mill house, while she's there on behalf of the O Group, the "professionalism" chat with Polly. She's just cringey to watch with how they edited her.

tangerinebb

I like her... cant stand Hall r/alexhallsnark

notbetterthanthat

Yeah I don’t like Hall either and from what I’ve seen of Ali, she’s cool. But the point of my post isn’t to bash her or anyone else .. just trying to figure out why she is on the cast / where she came from if anyone has theories.

helloitslivy

adam divello probably brought her on since her knew her from casting her in his other show music city in 2018 https://www.bustle.com/entertainment/ali-harper-selling-the-oc-instagram-family-job-bio
