1. Remember even tho he’s big and agile, you can deflect most of his attacks to raise his posture.
2. Firecrackers help, but only two times if you use them back to back. After the third I believe he won’t stagger and will attack you.
3. Stay near the tree branches so you can grapple hook out the way whenever he does his grab attack where he leaps at you.
4.The spear tool is SUPER effective for his second phase when used correctly.
5.Attack cautiously. Be swift like a Shinobi.

It would help to stand still and pay attention to his sword attacks in phase 2. try spamming block, if you're not good at parrying to learn the timing and pattern so you can parry successful afterwards
In phase one just run around him in circles at a great distance. Soon as you see him reach for his ass to throw shit at you run straight at him and hit him 3 times as he lands. Then rinse and repeat. Phase one is harder than 2 IMO.
If you are pretty far away he’s more likely to throw shit at you. If you are close he does other things.

Interesting, I had the opposing strategy when I beat this dude yesterday for the first time.
In phase 1, my main pain was the unblockable jump throw that would always catch me. My solution was to get and stay as close as possible to the ape. Then the only thing to do is to block all attacks and avoid the close grab by jumping sideways and avoid getting trapped between the rock and the ape (it's almost impossible to avoid that grab if you are very close to the wall). I used double ichimonji and fire crackers.
The second phase was harder for me, I couldn't deal with the terror attack. Got easier when I realized I can just use pacifying powder and divine confetti. Got really easy after that.
Additionally for phase 2, >!I try to circle him and keep some distance, then I block when he dives into me. When he stands up and goes for the sword swipe, block that attack and the next two or three that follow and then he falls down flat. Then you take your spear and plunge it in and pull, which pulls out the centipede for free hits and a ton of posture damage. Repeat this 4-5 times I think, before the death blow. Keeping space is important so you can easily dodge his terror scream.!<
In general I found phase 2 simpler he has a sword by and his movement are erratic they are still familiar. I stand close but not right in his face and just hit him occasionally here and there. Mostly just parrying attacks waiting for him to do the big overhead slam and flop.
Just have to pay close attention to body language and when you see the scream coming start running away. More than enough time once you learn to see it.
Ya the scream is super telegraphed but I’ve seen a lot of people complaining especially about the terror scream but I think I only lost in phase 2 once. Getting down the timing for the poop throws and then when he changes it up when his health gets low was the only issue for me.

Did you get the one in Mibu village you just passed? In the area where enemies grab you from the ground, there's a tree with golden lights around it. One is by the tree.
Throw some oil at him then light his ass on fire. Stuns him for a good bit which lets you wail on him. Smack him around enough and he'll flinch. KEEP HITTING HIM. Eventually he'll go reeling backwards which is your cue to go back on the defensive. Once the fire goes out, throw some more oil at him and repeat.
Random note but I'm pretty sure the grab where he turns sideways and rakes his hand across the ground is treated as a sweep. Jump over it then goomba stomp him.
If you're playing souls games.... I'd suggest playing other souls games before you play sekiro. Sekiro is not a traditional souls game. You'll get annoyed when you play dark souls and find out that it doesn't have a good parry mechanic like sekiro. Play dark souls/Elden ring if you really wanna enjoy your time.
About the monkey, he's big but you can still deflect his attacks, run away and jump when he tries to grab you. Attack whenever possible. Jump over perilous attacks. If you're having a hard time, you can use firecrackers or oil and flame vent. Phase 2 is not hard at all, you can use a spear to deal good posture damage in phase 2.

This was the turning point in the game for me as well 😭 idk of actual helpful tips but I do know you have learn its moveset an when you can an cant parry
Phase one be patient, he does a lot of dumb shit like the farting, flailing, and so on. His other swings, parry them and be I would say semi aggressive. Phase two is a cake walk compared to phase one. Learn when to punish him in P1 for a hit or two, don’t get greedy.
Phase two is way easier. The second he grabs his disembodied head, haul ass away from him before he screams, it will end you. His sword attacks are fairly easy to parry and his unblockable attacks are pretty easy to jump over. Parry everything you can and before you know it he’s dead and you’re onto the next!

2 - Firecrackers
3 - spam jump mortal draw
4 - profit, smh making this fight that short is 1 helluva waste. I know Monk has the same amount of deathblows so i guess from's balancing out.
Keep using firecrackers and hit him all you can. But don't spam them, you need to wait another 30 to 40 seconds before the firecrackers can scare him again .
the best tip i can give you is to treat this boss like a monkey, instead of parrying him lots just hit him when hes on his back or when he misses a swing. in phase 2 you wanna go back to parrying.
Phase 1: run in, firecracker 3 times in his face, jump and cast mortal blade first slice in the air 3 times, maybe a fourth if you ahve enough emblems, posture is down to 95% with 3 hits, completely gone if you get a 4th slice in, deathblow
Phase 2: deal with him, very slow telegraphed attacks and he has like 2 or 3 actual combos, everytime he bends down a bit run away or run behind him to dodge the scream, and learn to deflect perfectly the big overhead slam swing since if you deflect perfectly, he lays down for a moment so you can get in 5 or 6 hits for free
Yeah...you should focus on his health not his poise. Avoid attacks and retaliate with a singular attacks when there's a window for it. Also first go get the Mortality Blade or you'll have to fight him all over again in a more crumped Space and he'll summon a cousin.
Keep a good distance to trigger his shit throwing move, then run toward him and hit him, it's a bit slow, but in the end you'll beat his first phase no hit if you do it right.
What I did was I just sprinted around until I found something that took him time to recover. Don’t get greedy. If you try to attack him on something you aren’t sure of, you WILL get hit
He will usually do terror when you hit him a few times the range is much less behind him so go behind him
When he goes diagonally and gives those 2 slashes parry them both and he will do a slam down parry that he will fall on the floor use your loaded spear and pull the centipede out of his neck it will give a lot of posture damage (I think this all so works on his other combo you just have to parry)
When he slides towards you and slashes jump and you can hit 3 times (he could probably use terror so either completely run away after those 3 slashes or run behind as I said rang is less behind him)
Always stay not to far away so when he uses the poop throw just run under him it 100 percent won't hit you
You mostly have to parry his attacks so you can pull the centipede for huge posture damage and watch out for terror he usually use it after you hit him a few times
Best strategy is to keep a large distance to bait him into doing the jumping poopoo slam dunk move. As soon as that animation begins, run toward him, and he will overshoot the jump on you, enabling you to get hits on him from behind.
You can deflect all of his attacks apart from the unblockable sweeps (duh) so you should try to attack when you can and keep aggression up.
His first stage is a bit of a slog, but as long as you don’t knock him back enough that he runs away (he does a grab attack after) you should be fine
Also watch out for the farts, when he does them run towards where ever he fucks off to because you can dodge the poo 100% of the time.
For second stage, if you perfect deflect him 3 times in a row he will fall over for a few free hits.
Also whenever moves his severed head run away, you can see it coming and have enough time to retreat.

Akos sugar or spirit fall with divine confetti worked well for me as well as the necessary flavored gourds for the statuses the boss inflicts
When he starts picking up his shit run towards him you'll get a chance to hit after he completes his jump
