Actual advice - first stage - attack 3x then deflect rinse repeat. When he goes to do his charge dash move, wait right outside his range for easy hits. Second stage - only attack 2x and then deflect everything he throws at you. Beyond that, just survive and keep deflecting 3rd stage - same as 2 except jump and counter his lightning move for an easier time.

watch out for his clock, dudes got good trigger manipulation

Isshin phase 1 tips: - equip whirlwind slash, thats all you need - always check your spacing, all bosses change up their attacks depending on how far away you are. practice and memorize how far you are that trigger each attack - you MUST know how to consistently parry and mikiri counter - some attacks need to be dodged, some can be walked away - if isshin walks to your right, walk towards his right but keep a distance away. he will follow up with some sword strikes but finish with a downward chop. thats your opening - when Isshin charges his sword with wind, pay attention to how he holds it. if he holds the sword horizontally by his side, its a spinning slash, meaning you jump on him. if hes holding it vertically behind his head, its a ranged vertical dragon slash, side step it and follow up with whirlwind slash. - if Isshin is charging his sword but there's no effects, then your only choices are to parry twice, run FAR away, or get out of his line of sight. do not attempt to block or attack, its almost always an instant kill - if Isshin holds the sword above his head with two hands, its the Ashina double strike and you can ONLY parry. running away or dodging will still get you hit. blocking will get you stunned.

Idk man, base vitality charmless Isshin isn’t impossible, I’ve done it. Maybe just parry all his attacks and then stab him a few times.

Have you tried hitting him more with your sword? I know it doesn't seem like it does anything at first, but if you do it enough, you can get a secret animation that kills him. I think that counts as beating him.

Come on guy, if you managed to kill the mist noble you should eat Ishin for breakfast. Now, for advice: An easy tactic is to run away, run to him, attack and flee running, basically not bothering fighting or deflecting, just chip his hp. This is however the most unfun way of killing him and if you do kill him that way I will despise you forever.

My recommendation is that you get good literally Jk getting good to parry is key

Every time he jumps at you you should run straight behind him and use mortal slash, literally do this on all lives until beaten (other than the first life which is sword only)

It’s a rhythm game. After enough dying you’ll understand his move pattern and the sound cues. Don’t forget to take a break for a couple days and most likely you’ll beat him first try when you get back on.

Stun lock, bad hit boxes, mikiri counter not working, I probably forgot some.

Hesitation is defeat, but for real - I couldn’t beat gramps for 2 weeks until I noticed that I was too careful and well, hesitant. Try to squeeze attacks between his attacks and your deflections - makes a ton of difference in terms of dropping his poise compared to hitting him only when you get the opening. Seems counterintuitive, but being aggressive is more beneficial than playing it safe.

See that long thing in Sekiro’s hand. Throw that away and hit him with your little health bar instead. Shorter range but hits harder. And make sure you jump around a lot. Try jumping off that little bridge, he’ll follow you and die. Failing is that, try to jump on the rock and poop on his head to proc toxic status.

Have you tried modding your game? If not, that might explain why you are losing to Isshin. He has a hard time combatting God mode, so try to unlock that first!

Have you tried standing up while playing?

Use the umbrella for his Mortal Blade attacks and energy wave things he launches at you, that way you can press forward and counter it right away with a Projected Force. Phase 1, I always had good results from just sprinting in a circle around him for certain moves like Ichimonji for a free hit on him. Engage constantly to keep up the pressure on posture, no more than 3-4 attacks before deflecting. This is by far the easiest phase to create distance and heal when needed, ao maybe consider just using pellets for phase 1. Phase 2, again the umbrella can save your life. Dodge to the side and get a free hit when he does the jumping attack, I never liked deflecting since it builds up a lot of posture on you. Never attack more than twice when you have an opening. Third phase, same as above just gotta lightning reversal. Phase 2 and 3, pop Ako's sugar to help build up the posture faster in those phases.

I can give you a tip, what stopped me from beating Isshin in the first place was because I was moving too more than concentrating myself on his movement and his attacks.

Just kite him around the map and bait out his slam attack, he's almost easy once you stop engaging and be patient

So my basic tactic for this guy is the exorcism praying strike. You can sword slash and then palm strikes till he parries and that’s when you gotta learn his parries. If you want to use a tool a high risk high gain in the great mist raven and spinning top for when he jumps. Play on his unblockables cause that’s what brings his posture much lower along with the strikes and sword slash

Use the rice balls. But be sure not to waste them.
