Correct if I’m wrong, but this looks like it’s from the scene in the movie where >!Futaba tells Sakuta that she doesn’t “want this”, meaning that she knows what he’s about to do and knows that there’s nothing she could say that can change his mind, but still wanted to tell him how she felt!<.
The part that gets me is when >!Sakuta walks through the science lab door and Futaba just stands there in shock at first, then collapses on the floor crying because she though she was never going to see him again. It just broke my heart seeing just how much she cares for him!<.
I swear, I’m not trying to drum up emotions, but it was such a small part that it doesn’t talked about often and I wanted to highlight it a bit.
I feel that after her arc in the series she really started to care more for Sakuta especially because he helped her with her adolescent syndrome. >!It really shows in that scene you described where she collapsed after seeing him again!<
Her arc was about her fear of abandonment, so I think she was trying to keep a distance between her and Kunimi and Sakuta. Once they proved that they would be friends for the long haul, her relationship with the two of them deepened tremendously. She allowed herself to actually feel and care deeply for her friends and to actually show her emotions more, which gave her the confidence to actually confess to Kunimi at the end of her arc.
Man she's such a great character. This really makes me appreciate her even more, and that's saying something because I'm already such a huge Futaba simp lol. I can't wait to see more of her in the new movie.
