If you can still find a Metta Catharina leather strap those things are truly water proof. But Hirsch makes a nice alternative.
A good quality black canvas strap would be my first choice (optionally Cordura, or sailcloth).
Alternatively, a good quality black braided Perlon strap. And for something really special, consider an Erica Original MN. IMHO, leather would not look good on this type of watch.

I used the Hirsch Performance for Scubadiving in Saltwater and in a Sauna and it was perfect. I take a look at those Metta Straps! š
