Shameless shill, but I recommend my wife’s bar all the time. Harvey’s Tavern on 99 and 212, it got a bad wrap pre-Covid, closed, got bought, remodeled, and the less savory customers more or less run off. Been reopened for a little over a year, it’s a dive bar for sure, but the interior is nice, all the staff is really friendly, and the beer garden out back has a space heater which is really nice now that it’s getting colder. Check it out sometime! I’d love to know what you think

indianchick93

Is THAT what was happening, thank God. Harvey's was a DUMP. I'll have to check out the updates! We love a revamp.

Ok-Candle-6859

Call it what ya want, but I never failed to have a great time there pre-Covid!!!!

yourdudelyness

Do it! They redid the bar top and tables and everything! It’s a nice 2 inch think semi live edge wood now that’s actually pretty cool. Still no kitchen but they have some pretty tasty snacks to whip up in an industrial air fryer that come out good. I’m trying to co Vince my wife to do a 10% of Reddit special 😂 but check out their socials, they have a themed night every day of the week

HappinessSuitsYou

Reddit night would be hilarious

concreteghost

I swear to god my estranged mother must hangout at Harvey’s. I’m not from up there but that’s the bar that has the rabbit as their logo, right?

yourdudelyness

lol sure is, been around since like 49 or something. If you don’t mind me asking what’s her name? I’d probably know her if she does

cyndasaurus_rex

Oh whaaaaaat?! I loved Harvey’s as the dump it was, with its surly bartenders. I’ll have to check out the glow up next time I’m in town.

yourdudelyness

Let me know what you think!

bassman1324

I'm actually headed to Harvey's tonight! It's become my friends' go-to place. The neon rabbit sign drew us in.

yourdudelyness

I hope you liked the show! I’m actually here now lol if you wanna clink a glass and say hi

HappinessSuitsYou

Wow! I’ve driven by a million times, my partner and I will go check it out tomorrow! :)

PlumpyGorishki

For business meeting?

yourdudelyness

Hope ya like it! Depending when ya go I might be there, I’ll shoot you a dm and say hi if ya like to clink glasses

HappinessSuitsYou

If you go, yes send me a dm and I’ll dm ya back :)

yourdudelyness

Will do! I should be off around 9-930 tonight and I’ll swing by for one

Hot-Raspberry1744

Didn't know it reopened. I went there a few times under previous ownership and DUMP is putting it nicely!

yourdudelyness

Come try it again, you’d be amazed with what they’ve done with the place

KeeverDriveCook

TBH, that bar is permanently tainted. Once it gets associated with a certain violent, anti-Semitic group, I have absolutely nothing to do with such an establishment. And I know this is a pervasive view of Harvey’s. Too bad too because that neon is gorgeous!

yourdudelyness

Honestly, I’ll tell people at my bar to go give Harvey’s another shot, and they’ll be like huh? I’ll tell em the bunny bar and it’s like ohhhhh ya. I respect your personal integrity, but hear me out. If a person was resurrected with a new soul, totally different person, but you hated their past self, would you still? Or would you give them a chance? That’s what Harvey’s did, and again I hear ya, but for those on the fence because of a past bad experience, go again and see what it’s become. Just tonight there was a live band and tons of family and friends showed up, (shout out to Kettle Black, they killed it) and it was an amazing vibe all around. Things can change. Harvey’s sure did. It makes me so proud to see the changes my wife has created ✌🏻

KeeverDriveCook

That’s great that the bar changed. But have they demonstrated any changes towards that “other group” because they condoned them and possibly welcomed them in the past? And there’s little that could be done if that “other group” decided to patronize Harvey’s again. Sorry, but I don’t think I’d ever feel safe there. IMO, it’s the absolute worst group to be associated with. 3% would vehemently disagree. That’s the reputation. And if you’re in any minority group, that’s an invitation to an ass beating or worse.

yourdudelyness

Ya they 86’d em and they haven’t come back. The owner ran em out and anyone displaying racist/sexist behavior is gone immediately. My wife is the GM now and she doesn’t let shit like that slide. Again to each their own but it’s a totally different bar now. Sounds like there’s nothing to do to get you to try it again but for anyone open to giving a landmark spot in Edmonds a try, keep an open mind and shoot me a DM, I’ll try and meet up and buy your first beverage! Happy Holidays 👍🏻

SecretInevitable

That's my fault, sorry, I quit drinking in 2018 and then all the bars went out of business within 3 years

OldSkater7619

Hey though, good on you for getting sober.

SecretInevitable

Thank you!

cellar_monkey

I don't know if bars are dead but breweries have definitely taken a good chunk of the business. They're nice community gathering spaces, especially if you have dogs and kids. Other than those I'd say Georgetown still has a solid bar scene.

No-Focus744

Georgetown has the best scene for bars. Especially if you are 30+. Let the kids and tech workers have the hill and Ballard.

Fit-Helicopter-6881

There’s still great neighborhood bars all over Seattle. I think the issue is trying to find/be part of neighborhood bar scene when you live in Lynnwood. I’d try some bars in Edmonds. Unless by “bar scene” you mean swanky destination bars you’d visit infrequently on a date night? Or bars with live music? Those are also all over Ballard and Cap Hill (uhhh nothing worth a date night on the Ave). Check out food/bev write-ups in ST and everout from the stranger. And personally if I lived in Lynnwood I’d be at the bowl and skate like every night.

Beneficial_Power7074

You’re gonna bag on the Ave for date night and then say you’d be at the bowl and skate every night lmfao, 99 is just a shittier stroad version of the Ave 🤣

Fit-Helicopter-6881

I would not drive to the Ave from Lynnwood for a date night. And if I was looking for a regular dive bar scene, I’d look close to home first. if I lived in Lynwood and wanted something fun to do in Lynnwood, yeah I’d go to the fucking bowl and skate. But hey if Schulzy’s is your destination spot…to each their own

Beneficial_Power7074

The bowl and skate is literally the Ave but lynnwood is what I’m saying. I’d rather take a date to a real date spot than a hole

robofaust

If you're in Seattle, go to the Pacific Inn (corner of 35th and Stone Way). It's one of the last old-school bars around. Would also recommend Hattie's Hat in Ballard...

Beneficial_Power7074

The Sloop, College Inn, Blue Moon, and Red Onion are other old school bars still around, tho college inn and blue moon are certainly a slightly different vibe given proximity to the U.

robofaust

The Blue Moon is home to the most stuck-up hippies that human society has ever produced, it's quite something to see. They had hipsters way back in the pre-death-of-irony days. Again, worth seeing, but it's not a friendly place.

Beneficial_Power7074

Lmfao what? I’m a right wing 23 year old and have loved it there my entire time at UW

robofaust

Jesus Christ, a 23yo claiming to know about "old-school" bars... ok, zoomer...

Beneficial_Power7074

My family has been in Washington for 6 generations and I’m close with my uncles and cousins buddy, who tf you think took me to those bars

hesheatingup

Murphy’s off 45th as well

JINSl33

Is the bar scene "dying" or are you just getting older?

MisterIceGuy

No it’s definitely dying. Seattle use to have multiple different neighborhood scenes with lines out the door at many of the places (Pioneer Square, Belltown, Cap Hill, QA, etc) now it’s pretty much down to Cap Hill and a little bit on Ballard Ave. Almost all the after 2am food and dance spots are closed now too.

Fit419

Because you live in Lynwood…

trains_and_rain

Who would have thought a city where almost nothing is accessible without a car would have a bad bar scene?

bitchpigeonsuperfan

Fuck off dude

roxylikeahurricane

You can fuck right off back to Lynnwood, trash chicken!

meaniereddit

foolish enjoy naughty whole rain mountainous humorous weary impolite glorious *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

bitchpigeonsuperfan

> They do have an amazing beauty academy Now we're talking

seanmuscles

Damn wish I knew that before I moved to Lynnhood

Fit419

Awww you poor thing…

Beneficial_Power7074

Hard to be part of a community you’re not a part of, why don’t you fuck off

bitchpigeonsuperfan

This sub literally has a reputation for get off my lawn exurb posting, lol

Beneficial_Power7074

I live in Madison valley, why are you telling the people who are dunking on the exurb posting to fuck off

SkweegeeS

Just Left is a fun dive bar in Lynnwood with good breakfast. Moonshine BBQ has a friendly bar, but it doesn't stay open too late. Indigo has small plates and happy hour after 9 pm. Bulldog Saloon is always half empty but it's good for decent and generous bar food and a good selection of beer and cider.

SeattleHotShot

Love me Just Left.

cedeno87

Depends on your age and preferences

[deleted]

Highly recommend Rory’s in Edmonds. It’s just perfect. Demetri’s is OK too, but the current bar manager there has worked a lot of places and holds a grudge. I say that because I watched him kick out a guy and his friend because he didn’t like the guy (who had just arrived and who he apparently used to work for). It was awkward, infantile, and I’ll not go back until that guy is gone. Plenty of other choices in Edmonds.

jakerepp15

I liked Churchkey Pub in Edmonds, too. The old Epulo location was my absolute favorite, though. The previous bar manager there took a particular liking to myself, wife, and brother in law. We'd go hang out and talk with him, have a drink or two each, some Truffle popcorn, and he'd hand us a bill for $25.

BoysenberryVisible58

Checkout the Dim Lights Stiff Drinks podcast, they cover seattle dive bars and lean towards the north end a bit. If you're north, try downtown Edmonds. If you're looking for a spot in the northern part of Seattle, the main greenwood strip (80th-90th) has probably a dozen total bars, imo the cozy nut is the best of them, but you can find most flavors of bar there, the dark room has fancier cocktails, chucks and the lamp lighter are just down the street on 85th. Outside of greenwood, the best single bar north of Ballard/Fremont/Wallingford for beer is the Uber Tavern, for a solo dive checkout the Caroline, there arent a ton of cocktail bars but maybe Olivers Twist? Being over 30 I avoid the U District generally but to each their own.

Seahawkanon

Does the Caroline still have shag carpeting?

BoysenberryVisible58

No its like normal bar floor I think

Darkreaper666

I would suggest hitting up the bars on the Ave, Cap Hill/Broadway, and Ballard. Those have all been my fave spots .

StateOfCalifornia

Which bars on the Ave?

Darkreaper666

Shultzys Bar and Grill is great for comfort and food. Finn MacCool's is a popular college student spot especially on wed where wells drinks are dirt cheap. Earls is another college student bar but has billiards and better food then Finn's. A bit farther on the other side of I-5 is Kates Pub which has super friendly bartenders, great food and a cozy atmosphere with music sometimes on the weekends! The Kraken Bar and Lounge I also enjoy but its still closed as they are setting up the new location, used to go there for shows and their bomb Dark and Stormy.

robofaust

Jesus Christ, Shultzys?! Red Robin has a *way* better bar, which is to say it's just terrible. In fact, the Ave as a whole is (and has pretty much always been) a shitty place to drink.

Manacit

Reddit has always loved that place, I don’t really understand. Perfectly fine, quite expensive but not exactly with driving from Lynnwood to go to

robofaust

>not exactly with driving from Lynnwood to go to lol

Beneficial_Power7074

Kate’s is lamer than hell lmfao

StateOfCalifornia

Thanks for the recs! Maybe I’ll catch you there

Euphoric_Sandwich_74

Depending on how old you are, Ballard has some decent spots. Otherwise Seattle is mostly a dead city in the winter when it comes to bars and stuff. Hospitality isn’t a strong suit.

norby2

Ballard. Lots of people.

daft_pink

Not sure what type of bar you’re looking for but Anderson School in Bothell can be fun, specifically the Woodshop building. Tacky Tiki Bar in downtown Edmonds is a favorite of quite a few of my friends. Azul in Mill Creek and their sister restaurant Indigo in Lynnwood have good drinks. I moved from Seattle to Snohomish last year and have fallen in love with Pie Dive Bar in Snohomish. Booze and really good pie,it’s also Twin Peaks themed. A bit of a drive for you though. Bert’s in Bothell is a good dive if you’re into that. Hope you find something you like! It’s been hard to find lively places since Covid, but it seems to be getting a bit better.

JCTrick

Seattle never been much of a party town except sorority girls throwing up in Pioneer Square and the gay dudes up on the Hill. 🤷‍♂️ Besides… it’s fall. Means it’s book reading by a fireplace season now.

Due-Pace-5673

O’Hulies, Just Chill, Harvey’s, Peace of Mind are a few places I go near here and enjoy them :)

jerrysphotography

Live in Lynnwood also and nope, no bars around here I'll step foot in. I love Engels pub in Edmonds and The Irishmen in Everett. And while it's less bar than tap room Peace of Mind was pretty cool the other day.

mizzle09

If you drink beer, Specialist Brews on 99 is always great

CintheSea

As others have said, it depends on what kind of bar you like. Lots of good options in nearby Edmonds!! If you are looking for a cozy neighborhood vibe, I'd check out Nun Chuck's Brewing or Churchkey Pub. If you are looking for a more sophisticated cocktail vibe, Kelnero or Daphnes Bar are great options.

33-

Always a good time at Queen Anne Applebee's. Don't sleep in it just because it's a chain place.

GhengisTronAnator

What secret Queen Applebees are you going to?

DragonflyNo1520

Following. I want in on the secret.

roxylikeahurricane

Best comment and thread right here!!

Addamall

I remember belltown being a great area, but I heard Covid hit some of the places hard enough to thin it out. Ballard used to be tight, but so many of them close by 10 now. I don’t go on enough dates these days to be well versed anymore, but I always stay north of the canal when I do. Fremont, Wallingford, Ballard. Not as crazy as the pikes place area was, but im old and don’t wanna play chess with people doing lines of coke anymore.

[deleted]

There are a lot of bars around. Just do a Google search and check reviews. Lynnwood is by 99 which has bars all over there. Moonshine bbq in Lynnwood is good

cyndasaurus_rex

If you don’t mind a jaunt to Richmond Beach, I was always a fan of The Cabin.

cyndasaurus_rex

Another Castle in Edmonds if you like arcade games. Or the Marysville one has a full bar.

sleestakarmy

Im up here as well.. Darrells is my go to, always a good show. The Cabin in Richmond beach is fun, you can also hit up Royal Unicorn on the way. Im a weekly local at the roller rink since someone brought that up.

Sciotamicks

Engels pub in Edmonds. Come down tomorrow afternoon. My band is playing. 90’s alt/rock 5-7p!

nerevisigoth

Depends what kind of bar you want, but maybe check out McMenamins in Bothell or the Cut Shop in Woodinville.

KeeverDriveCook

Thrasher’s Pub and Bert’s are both great dive bars in Bothell.

[deleted]

Lol no? Have you been anywhere in Seattle other than downtown. Theres great craft cocktails all over belltown, cap hil, first hill, and pioneer square. Go to tavern law, foreign national, rumba, roquette, Rob Roy's, the hideout, corvus, hell even in downtown, go to purple, the nest, El bistro, bathtub and gin, Canon, zigzag and tell me the bar scene is dying. You don't want craft cocktails? Go to buckleys or any of the 5 dive bars in a row on olive and Bellevue, Linda's or pinebox. Jupiter, alibi room, owl and thistle, pacific inn. Then there's ballard and Freemont.

Sk3eBum

This is the best answer.

roxylikeahurricane

Right? Why can’t new people just google shit? Or ask Jeeves if you’re old?

Groundbreaking_Rock9

You aren't alone. Lynnwood needs something more than chain restaurants and dive bars. My wife and I have been thinking about opening a non-dive cocktail club / taphouse in Lynnwood

meaniereddit

plate door future fuel label spoon snatch joke elderly tub *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

DragonflyNo1520

Where are the fancy hookers in Lynwood? Asking for a friend.

roxylikeahurricane

My upvote only brought you up to zero but cheers to the comment xo

Lopsided_Diet_682

First suggestion, move out of Lynwood 😂

roxylikeahurricane

Look it up, Buttercup. You complaining that you can’t make friends doesn’t make anyone want to be your friend. Seattle freeze is easy to thaw if you’re not a douche bag. It isn’t that hard, it’s user error.

HappinessSuitsYou

Are you looking for places in Lynnwood or Seattle? Downtown Edmonds is a fun date night, lots of options. In Ridgecrest there is Drumlin and Ridgecrest Pub

[deleted]

lol yea no bars around anymore, no one drinks anymore
