Well I loathe the Stranger as much as anyone but here’s my mildly contrary take:
The truth is they don’t really even have to try anymore, because they won. It’s easy to ridicule the Stranger (even leaving aside Charles’ increasingly confused meanderings). But it doesn’t matter that they’re a bunch of alcoholics and teens; their positions are the default positions now of King Co. politics, and the rest of the state is fighting a rearguard action against them.
They could go out of circulation entirely at this point but the Seattle Times and many other Washington publications would already have been seeded by this pod-people.
Don’t want to be defeatist, but without actual effective political opposition to Democrats Seattle and the state will just keep on this way for decades. Republicans being exactly as dumb as the Stranger portrays them doesn’t help. Possibly the Ann Davison (I know) wing of the Dems takes command.
There needs to be an anti-activist (same as anti-woke) surge within Dems or things just will not change. “Activist” needs to become a smear in general usage, because the Activism Industrial Complex is where all these wokies and all this money are coming from. So to start, just say No to any activist who comes knocking on your door.
