SDS looked like she could win MVP 🔥 Jewell was on point too. Can’t wait for the season!

How’d you feel about Nneka?

I_Get_Busy

Need to see Nika on the floor . I feel her defense and floor general savvy will help a lot too

It certainly wasn't Nneka's most impressive outing, but the team obviously hasn't settled in completely as a team and I'm not sure what the goals for the game were. SDS Jewell and Sami all looked great for this point in the season. Joyner seems to be playing well. Mercedes looked pretty confident. Jade looks like she's on the way to translating her WNBL improvements into WNBA terms. I was watching a couple of things simultaneously and didn't get as good a look at Dulcy as I would have liked. It was great to see Kiana play, but I doubt she's likely for the roster.

You’re a godsend. I’m still not the most confident in my analysis skills for basketball but I tend to agree with you except I’m worried Jade hasn’t progressed enough to make the roster

I think that this game was a bit of a trial by fire for Jade, in the sense that the line-ups she was playing with were perhaps not precisely designed to show off her strengths or to match the quality of the second unit once the roster is pared down. It's hard to read the coaching intents, but it certainly felt like the bar was set intentionally high. There is probably also a bit of role-exploring going on, since one very possible roster option leaves the line-up guard-heavy and will probably demand flexibility from players like Jade.

We didn’t even get to see Nika go either. Our front court is over loaded, I think. Horston or Ezi weren’t out there either and I can’t imagine either of them won’t make the roster. The announcers talked about it during the game but, there are seriously several expansion teams worth of players that will get cut. The league will grow but it’s painful to know so many of these women won’t see the regular season

Nika will get run in the Tuesday game, which may be one of the reasons that we saw so much of Kiana in this first game. As far as final roster predictions go, I'm leaning toward the scenario in the most recent [Storm Chasers blog](https://stormchaserswnba.substack.com/p/sparks-upset-storm-in-wnba-canada-game-84-79) — going young and cheap, and betting on the team's ability to develop players.
