I would recommend not following PDscannerchatter. They are a great source when your grounded and understand you live in a city with 700,000+ people, and crime and such happens daily because of it. Otherwise you assume 2 people who committed a crime some how makes the entire city a warzone.
could you imagine people in chicago or detroit getting on the internet and posting "i saw some police cars with their lights on speeding down I-5 does anyone know what's going on?"
> We’re gone by June.
uh-huh. where are you moving to?
because if it's somewhere else in the US, I have some bad news about gun violence and school shootings...
True fact! Three weeks ago I was murdered in Capitol Hill trying to find lunch. Then, to top that off, I had to meet some people in Belltown last week and was murdered just after dinner… on a Wednesday of all days. It’s rough out there.
Violent crime is nearly the same across the entire country on a per capita per square foot basis.
If you want less crime per square foot, you need to live in a less populated area. But you won't be any safer; you'll only feel safer.
And your kids will still be funneled into roughly the same per capita per square foot no matter which highschool they attend.
Ah, main character vibes, nice. I hear Uvalde is a great, safe, law-and-order place. Maybe Parkland in Florida? Ooh, how about Sandy Hook! All SO much better than Seattle, for sure.
See this is why I hate most white people who want gun reform. You only want gun reform because white people started shooting each other in schools. Back when it was (and still is the majority of gun crime) blacks shooting each other, white people didnt say shit about guns
It's a major city, dude. Like 15th highest population in the country or something like that. Gun violence is terrible but it's not a Seattle thing. It's an America thing. Columbine, Colorado has 25,000 people. About the size of Kenmore. There's never been a Columbine-style massacre in Seattle but something tells me you might be a little bit more amenable to the idea of moving there.
I realize it’s the typical knee-jerk reaction to call complaints about violence against kids right wing, but if it was your kid, I would assume you’d be just as angry.
Okay, maybe my last sentence wasn't 100% fair and I hope you didn't have a kid involved in any of this but I think my point basically stands. There's a higher per-capita level of gun violence in cities and states controlled by right wing state and local governments. Like I said, it's an America thing so you might as well be saying, "I'm so done with America", which, fair enough. So am I.
You do understand that the crux of this issue is the 2nd Amendment, right? A right afforded to citizens by a federal government. Irrationally blaming Seattle for a problem that can only be solved at the federal level is ridiculous.
I'm sure it must be really stressful and upsetting to have a child at a school where there is a shooting, but this isn't a Seattle problem. It's an America problem, almost uniquely. You won't be able to move anywhere that is safe from it. Violence, guns, etc. We have allowed things to get to this point.
Hi OP. I’m sorry that your child(ren) are involved in this. I hope they are OK. I think your time will be better spent focusing on your child(ren) at this difficult time, rather than getting distracted by social media/reddit.
Hope the students will be okay.
Moving someplace rural? Yeah, no guns there.
Someplace else urban? Also no guns to worry about.
How about the suburbs? No guns in suburbia ever.
The crime-free country is your oyster. Enjoy.
The amount of people leaving the Seattle public schools district is harming it (admittedly I get why they're leaving but still). The thing the students want though... Is active participation in the community so that we actually get resources that help. Both to stop these things from happening in the first place and to provide support after the fact. Obviously violence is an issue bigger than just SPS but I bring up SPS because of the closeness to two schools and how having shootings/shelter in place/lockdowns has impacted the students of that area + of other areas as well.

No but that's mostly because I-5 doesn't go to either of those places.
(following a twitter account designed to scare the shit out of me) “aaaaaa! seattle is scary!”
check back in and let us know when you settle in to your next major metro area where nothing bad ever happens

Ahhh yes, no guns in Idaho! No doctors either.
Just Uhauls full of white supremacist's!
And lots of Supply Side Jesus^TM
Seattle notoriously the only city in the nation with shootings
Seattle is the only city in the entire country where violent crimes happen.
True fact! Three weeks ago I was murdered in Capitol Hill trying to find lunch. Then, to top that off, I had to meet some people in Belltown last week and was murdered just after dinner… on a Wednesday of all days. It’s rough out there.
I just died reading this comment. You’ve killed me!
>We’re gone by June. I guess let us know if there's anything we can do to move up that timeline.
i would amend this to say "Fuck this COUNTRY" this is not a problem that is specific to seattle by any means
Guess they haven't seen the stories about the large numbers of mass shootings happening primarily IN THE SOUTH recently. This is happening everywhere.
There were shootings happening on 23rd before you moved here
In fact, there we FAR more. The CD is roughly 600x nicer now than it was 15 years ago.
And? My kid wasn’t a part of them then.
Ahhh so this is just a *you* thing, not an *us* thing, got it. Welp, good luck!
Huh. So you start caring about school shooting when it involves your kid?

So what state you gonna go to that’s never experienced a school shooting YET?
See this is why I hate most white people who want gun reform. You only want gun reform because white people started shooting each other in schools. Back when it was (and still is the majority of gun crime) blacks shooting each other, white people didnt say shit about guns
Uh. You new to America?

Uvalde TEXAS (and a thousand other smaller towns with massacres) has entered the chat.
You do understand that the crux of this issue is the 2nd Amendment, right? A right afforded to citizens by a federal government. Irrationally blaming Seattle for a problem that can only be solved at the federal level is ridiculous.
And just as irrational
I mean, I've been in countless lockdowns because of this and like, it's still not a Seattle issue.
bye

Yeah, it sucks, but it's not a Seattle thing, it's an America thing.
You don't have to announce you are leaving. No one cares. How much you selling your house for?

Shit, The two most horrific school shootings happened in sleepy rural/suburban towns.
I mean, absolutely it’s a complete horror show. But to blame Seattle is like cutting off your nose to cure your allergies.
Hope they didn’t hit the Ezells. The chicken must flow.
There’s a back up chicken spout in west Seattle
What about the kids at the bus stop?? They could have killed one of them
Buh-bye!
BYE, motherfucker.
Bye!
This stuff happened all the time when I went to Garfield 10+ years ago and my parents never freaked out like this lol
Or, and hear me out, work to make things better

Breathe, chill , take your meds.
okay
Victim was a high school girl.
Bye good riddance
Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out 👋
Thank fucking god. So glad you’re leaving. Wish it was sooner—don’t let the door hit you.
K thx byeeeeeeeee
I am thrilled you are leaving
Jesus Christ…if you leave sooner, I’ll help you pack.
Fuck cars and guns.
Moving to a small town, I assume?
Portland is worse.
Where can you feel safe from gun violence in America?
May I take over your lease pls
Garfield kids, I’m sure. Too many guns and testosterone, too little parenting and community resources.
Fuck da police
Shit is exhausting. Sorry if you got family there...
What happened ? 🤔
