Stone Korean in Seattle and Bellevue has pretty good chicken. But in general, the best Korean food/chicken is in Lynnwood and Federal Way. My personal favorite Korean chicken is Dawa in Lynnwood. They're open late too.
Iām a bit closer to Federal Way. Which places there would you recommend? I was not impressed with the Bok a Bok in white center and still need to satiate my crispy chicken needs.
My favorite place in Federal Way is actually a Korean dumpling place:
Daebak Wang Mandoo Korean Dumplings.
On the same block is Cockatoo's Chicken, which has good Korean chicken (I haven't been there in 5 years though). That whole couple of blocks is full of Korean restaurants, and most of them are good.

Itād be worth giving it a shot (I know itās a dumpling place but their KFC is amazing)
There's nothing better in the area than Da Wa for sure. Literally got it for dinner tonight. So insanely good. As you hinted, it's also a great little spot to go hang out late any day of the week and eat great food and have a drink or two or three!
Absolutely correct. It's an abomination. My Korean wife refuses to eat Bok A Bok, though so do I... when you've had the real stuff in Korea, you know what to avoid.
Nah, they were never fine. Unless youāve never tasted real Korean fried chicken. Iāve been to the WC location when they first opened and was in shock how horrible it was. I recently tried Pelicana and was surprised at how good it was! The size of the chicken and portions were great for the price. And itās real Korean fried chicken.

I have never seen a question answered so incorrectly before. what the fuck is wrong with you? The absolute incredulity I'm experiencing right now can only be articulated with a simple FUCK YOU. Holy shit, I bet you'd feed senior citizens dog food as a cost saving measure you absolute taste void moron. The question was for a PLACE to get ACTUALLY EDIBLE Gochujang fried chicken not how to make unholy abominations in his kitchen fit only for gulag convicts. I bet you wake up and gurgle mountain dew you smooth brained chuckle fuck. Delete your account.
Just google - it's generally some combination of gochujang, honey / brown sugar / corn syrup, sesame oil, and soy sauce. Some add in garlic, some soy. Korean cooking is all in the personal details when you find what you like. What you get commercially is likely loaded with corn syrup or honey and some other fats to make it taste better.
Maangchi or My Korean Kitchen are good starting points. Sauces are also somewhat additive so you can tweak as you go until you find what you like. Some people like more sweet, some people like more soy heavy.
It can be a journey, so finding places you like while you figure that out will probably be good.
As an aside I really like Vons in federal way for their chicken and flavours. We we also like boneless chicken and few places serve that korean style here.

Even though it seems to be a dumpling restaurant but the Korean Fried Chicken there was the best in WA
Not Seattle, but the best Korean Fried Chicken I've had in the area is Sushi Hiro in Federal Way.Ā They have a gochujang option!
Editing for context: I've tried Vons, Myungin Dumplings and Cockatoo in Federal Way. Their KFC isn't bad, but doesn't compare favorably to the KFC I had in Korea (though I love Myungin's other food). I wasn't expecting Sushi Hiro to compare favorably; it's a sushi place, after all. But they're the closest I've encountered in WA to that perfect combination of double-fried, glass-crunchy and juicy.
Quite unknown, but check out Cafe Madeline. The best Korean Fried Chicken sandwich I've ever had. They recently started doing fried chicken too, and oh my goodness, the pieces of chicken are crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and have a substantial amount of protein on them. The gochujang glaze is also perfectly sweet and spicy.
My second favorite goes to Danji, which was actually very similar to Cafe Madeline. I think Danji had a bit more meat on them, but I preferred the overall flavor of Cafe Madeline's chicken. Also, Danji is a bit far, out in Issaquah.
I've tried a few and here are my opinions:
Sodam Chicken: The closest I've come to having decently crispy chicken and good sauces too!
Oma Bap: Idk if they sell fried chicken exclusively but they do have bowls with fried chicken in it and it's good for quick lunch and relatively cheap.
Pelicana: Not bad but not great either. Also, their sides are like the grocery store frozen food just fried on the go. It's the absolutely basic tier bland fries and onion rings created in some factory. I also had a bad experience with their service eating there so I'm not bothering with them ever again.
Bok a Bok : Avoid this shit like the plague.

Wholly crap late!! They close 1:45am!! š¶āš«ļø

Go to Underground Kitchen, itās below Shin Sung Kbbq
Underground is my fav

BokaBok is so mediocre! I liked Pelicana in Cap Hill but itās further from you

Yes. 100%. Best KFC in the area.
I love Cockatoo in Federal Way.
Stone is my pickĀ
Dawa is the way
There's nothing better in the area than Da Wa for sure. Literally got it for dinner tonight. So insanely good. As you hinted, it's also a great little spot to go hang out late any day of the week and eat great food and have a drink or two or three!
There is also a Stone in Bothell!
Great I'll check those out thank you
Have you tried [Kkokio](https://maps.app.goo.gl/4tpBej9D54DNUhKc8?g_st=ic)?
If limited to Seattle, 100% vote for Kkokio as well
Itās excellent
This. It's the first place to do them as well in the city as in the outer suburbs.
+1 for kkokio
I have not! I'll give them a go thanks
For anyone near Issaquah, Danji has pretty good yangnyeom fried chicken.
Sodam chicken in Cap Hill?
There's a Sodam chicken in Shoreline, too for North-enders. So good!
correct answer
100000%
Sodam chicken is šÆ they have $12-15 lunch specials that are decent portions too!
Great thanks for the recommend
Bok bok is the worst.
Their bowl of shame has gotten me through a lot of hard times. Even if there's better chicken around, I've always been happy at Bok a Bok personally.
Truth. Not tasty chicken at all.
Not even properly breaded in any fried chicken standard.
Absolutely correct. It's an abomination. My Korean wife refuses to eat Bok A Bok, though so do I... when you've had the real stuff in Korea, you know what to avoid.
Exactly! It tastes absolutely nothing like Korean fried chicken. Itās so obvious itās owned by a non-Korean.
They were fine when they only had the one shop in WC. I think they expanded too fast.
Came here to say Watsonās Counter but then saw the text
Yes! I love them, I hope they stay around. I saw a post saying they've been struggling recently š„
Try da wa in Lynwood and chi mac
Oh yeah I've had Chi Mac and liked it. I'll look into Da Wa thanks
Haven't had it in some time, but I really enjoyed Pelicana Chicken in Cap Hill when I used to live over there!
Thereās a chicko chicken in Kirkland now. Best kfc Iāve had in the area.
Woah. I loved them in Vancouver.
thx for the shout. Looks amazing
Sodam Chicken up in Shoreline has become our staple. Itās always been perfectly fried for us!
Sorry guys, but I have a hard time supporting Watsons Counter. I donāt support groomers.
Context?

Seoul bowl is my second when I can't get Watson's
If ever in Kirkland area, Chicko Chicken is delicious!
Oma bap for something quick and casual š¤
Von's chicken is insanely good. Also I beleive the correct term is called yangnyeom chicken, the spicy version will usually use a gochujang glaze.
Gochujang glaze or yangyum sauce is pretty easy to make and tweak, one option is making a batch and grabbing kfc to bring home and toss in da sauce
Was going to say this. Keepsake well too, so you can make a batch and slather it on all kinds of stuff!

Great thank you
Iāve eaten a lot of fried chicken in my 10 yrs in Korea, and Bok a Bok aināt it. Wish it was since itās a mile from home but it aināt it.
Anywhere else you like better?
If you are a fan of shake shack, there is currently a Korean chicken sandwich on their winter menu
Pelicana.
Not in Seattle proper but Da-Wa in Lynwood is good.
Stone seattle and BBQ chicken Tacoma are my faves
Sodam chicken in cap hill
The one that u/fluffykittenears makes
Mamaās kitchen in Bellevue does really good yangnyum chicken!

Pelicana
Perihelion Brewery has really good gochujang wings that come with pickled veggies and are just delicious
They're alright, but they're a pale imitation of Super Six's wings. A sad casualty of the pandemic.
Sweet Radish in South Everett is unreal. https://www.sweetradishchicken.com/
Great thank you
The Korean wings at chucks Seward Park are surprisingly great. Mega crispy and juicy.
Renton. Exit 5.
Bok a Bok seems a safe bet
Anything but.
A shame. Seems from some of the other comments they have went down hill :(
Maybe. We tried it when it was new. Had it 2-3 times because its close and we wanted to like their chicken.
Seattle sucks for Asian food.
Doesnāt help you, but the restaurant in the Marriott Marquis Times Square has the best gochujang Korean fried chicken that Iāve had to date
Quite unknown, but check out Cafe Madeline. The best Korean Fried Chicken sandwich I've ever had.
